I think one or the other needs to give. £1.50ish a litre for fuel and a hike in road tax is just taking the*iss!

my point exactly. I didn't pay £25k for my car and if I did I wouldn't be too concerned about a hike in tax.

I think if I had the money to buy a brand new sports car for £50k+ or even £30k the tax really wouldn't bother me that much.

But the fact is most of us own sx's that are worth less than £10k the...

doubled over ten years is not nearly as bad as doubled over the next year! I don't expect road tax to be lower but the rising fuel prices should compensate some what towards road tax!
