Morning all,
Could be nothing, but I got the feeling my fuel pump might be wanting to goto the after life! :(
Had a Walbro fitted at 70k miles back in Feb 2008.....
Am now at 139k miles, just had recent service/mot , but now the noise you can hear is almost like a high pitched whirring noise :wack:
Car drives fine and so on, but I wonder, is that noise a sign that the pump is nearing its lifespan ? no idea how long these pumps are supposed to last ?
Wasn't much wrong with the car Monday night when you were nailing it towards asda by your house mate! Looked to be going well lol;)

Nailed it to 40mph, I remember that!! hehe ! ;)
Hook a fuel pressure gauge between fuel filter and fuel rail.
Check pressure at full boost, WOT though rev range up to limiter.
If you still worried, see it as a service item and change it anyway.

next time you hear it getting louder unscrew the fuel filler cap.
try taking the pump out and seeing if the sock is dirty/fallen off.
When checking the fuel pressure get a long hose on the T and cable tie the gauge to the wiper arm so you can see it while driving at high load.
Bringing a temporary fuel line into the car isn't a very good idea.
If it has started to make noise, get a new one! A cheap investment compared to holes in your pistons.
My walbro's made a light buzzing whirring from day one, thought it was pretty normal for aftermarket fuel pumps to be heard.
it always made a light whirring noise, but in past week or so, that whirring noise got louder!
Although, after the car has been running a while, its not so noticeable, and when you turn off engine (say u goto the shops, etc), when you start up again, its not loud.....
Just seems loud when the car hasn't been used for a while!
Happy to get a new one, ebay probably best bet ?
