I presume you'd have to change the loom or plugs, or is it a case of simple plug and play?

Headgasket gone? That could explain why it lost so much oil.

This week I'll finally have some time off work (4 days!) so hopefully I'll get the engine out and apart :wack:
S14's normally weap oil out of the front :(
doesn't mean the head gasket has gone  :)
if your fitting a metal head gasket then put a little bit of sealant on both sides of the gasket around that front cover :)
I'm pretty pleased at the progress I made during the weekend.
Got the engine out and started taking it apart.
I have never done anything like this before so it takes a bit longer than for someone with more experience :)
Anyway here are some pics:

Have made some progress with the car and will post pictures later when the mate taking the pics has time to edit them.
Took my engine apart and the block and head are at a machining workshop now.
Found out the cause for the oil loss. All of the piston oil rings were completely stuck :wack:
Later found out that the block has to be bored to oversize as it has so much wear. Also found out that it has been honed before as there was wear, but no "edge" in the cylinders.
Anyway got a call today from the workshop saying that the head has multiple cracks :wack:
Looks pretty bad, so I guess I'l need to also find a new head asap :(

Anyone happen to have a spare head lying around? Need to find a decently priced head as my budget is already way overstretched. :(
And on top of all things a tire exploded on my daily Vectra OPC. Damn expensive those 17" winter tyres. Bloody 345mm brakes :furious:
Here are some pictures of the progress that has been made so far :)

I know it's not done nowhere near as well as most of the cars here, but I'm pretty satisfied with how it starts to look. Would do everything better if I had more time :(
But the main thing is that it will be better protected agains rust
