Thats a cool car  just by putting the wheels on and lowering it makes it look so much better:nod:

Top job mate.
Can't wait to see it on the roads. This is truely an awesome car.
Update
The weekends lovely non-stop rain didn't allow much to be done unfortunately but I worked as well as I could in my narrow tiny council garage. I stripped down an old spare CA and hand lifted it into the engine bay. Then got underneath the car with the gearbox and held it in position whilst my mate located a few bolts. By using the original Datsun gearbox mount its direct bolt up luckily. Only it won't bolt up properly until I cut the shifter hole further back to clear that part of the gearbox.
The next question was that of a propshaft. Luckily I had quite a few prop shafts (910, mk1 S12, mk2 S12, S13, S14), and after a while came up with 2 combo's. With the S13 rear half, the prop is about 10mm too short, and with the thinner Datsun rear half its about 20mm too long.
I will make final measurements once the engine and gearbox are properly aligned.
Keep the updates coming mate looks well nice:thumbs:
hey mate.. that is awesome.. you will be shocking some people! Pimp street sleeper :wack:
Wheels look a bit off key IMO but if thats what it takes to clear the brakes then so be it ;)
That is so cool
Full on awesome machine
Really nice car! Was thinking of getting one as a project in the future, but the seem to be quite rare! And looking at the amount of things you had to change not too sure now :(
Well now I know what to do it isn't too difficult. Its just experimenting with things thats a bit of a ball ache.
You could use an S13 front cross member in there with a few minor mods. The diff could be welded up to make it stronger because its the spiders gears that are weak.
As for finding another one, I know of only 2 others, but I'm sure they will crop up from time to time.
Been a few weeks since I reported on things.
I used a bare engine block for testing purposes to fit the gearbox. Cut the hole in the floor back a few inches for the shifter, and then spent some time messing around with props. I've found a nice combo of 2 halves, but it requires shortening by only a few mm. Once I'm sure on alignment of the engine and box in relation to the diff I will recalculate the length.
Upon assembly with the dummy engine I noticed a rather big issue with the clutch slave cylinder. The aftermarket inlet manifold I intent to use is so big that its was either the inlet or the clutch cylinder. The clutch slave was about 4 cms to long. After a nice visit to a scrapper I ripped a tiny one out of an MR2, and then promptly modified it with a die set, an angle grinder and a welder. Its even the same ratio as the original slave.

The intention is to use an engine temporarily so I scouted up to Nottingham last weekend to get a CA. Within one minute after getting home I dragged it out of the boot and pulled the sump of to inspect the big ends. All were nice except No.4 was a little poor.
Yesterday I had to remove the fuel tank to get the fuel hoses on, and then built up the solid pipe under the car from 8mm tubing. The S12 tank is such a tight squeeze it took me ages to get the bolts in place. Thanks to the rain it made the whole job very annoying.
Today, I replaced the bearings in the engine and then got it in the boot of my trusty Escort along with a crane as well. Went down to the crap council garages to fit it in the car today. Forgot to take a pic though.
I removed the heater hoses from the firewall to find the heater matrix pipes crumble away as I removed them. Nice... Looks like changing that will be a fun job
Outstanding:
Propshaft
ECU wiring
Fuel pump wiring
Exhaust
Braided brake lines
Heater matrix
Radiator piping
Intercooler bodgery
any pics of the inlet manifold??:)
can't believe the pipes were such a pain :( seemed to be going so well when I left you. At least you have a nice brand new heater matrix though, bonus :D
26 days to the car show mate :whip: :)
Yeah lucky I have that spare. I might just link up the 2 heater matrix pipes and live without heating for a bit just to get it roadworthy. The main difficulties were purely down to the environment. Just not easy getting under the car with such limited space.
Well yes 'tis true, but because I'm going to Toronto the weekend after next it only leaves me 2 weekends to finish it :annoyed:
i know how you feel, not sure mine will be ready tbh, looking very dought full
:(
That is coolest looking car i've seen in a LONG time!! :notworthy
I once got asked by a copper if I was using mine as a taxi! Odd sort of taxi to be parked up for 3 hours from 8 to 11 on Sat night.
I wound down the rear window, demonstrated the lack of B pillar and asked the twat to open the back door. He looked confused, I drove off.
Lol. Didn't know you used to have a 910 2 door?
Picture of the pikey engine that I dropped in on Sunday:

Been getting down the garage to do some work for an hour or 2 after work, have managed to wire up half the loom, the fuel pump, sort the throttle cable, wire up the alternator, measure the engine's alignment to the diff and vice versa (some minor adjustment required). Just got to finish off the power side of the loom, chuck some fuel in and see if the pump primes etc. Need dropping resistors though. Looking forward to the rain thats due this weekend to more or less halt my progress :annoyed:
