Was having a quick engine bay clean this morning, first for a long time, and found this...

That's pretty standard and an easy enough repair for those with the required skills :)
I'd break it for spares with rust like that!
Easy, I sorted mine in half a day and I'm only a hobbyist with a welder.
Lols, barely even rust.
Thats pretty clean for an S13
S13?
That is one of the very last S14a 200s ever sold. In fact, what with rust and accidents, it may be the youngest S14a there is. I do wonder which field it sat in for two years before they sold it though...
I know the rust isn't that bad, it was just a nasty surprise when I saw it. What I'm really after is a recommendation of a reliable place in London/Essex who can sort out the rust, as well as giving the rest of the car a good going over. I can twirl a spanner with the best but welding is something I know I'd cock up and make the problem worse.
My apologies, I see rust and automatically assume it's an S13 :wack:
I wouldn't even bother doing anything about that tbh
Very easy repair that and very common. Check the rear of the suspension turret as well, especially on the passenger side. Also, check at the base of the strut tower where it meets the chassis rail as that's also a common spot.
Really? A simple rust repair you would leave to get worse and worse?
The right turret looks like it needs cutting out and a new piece welding in.
The left side just needs rubbing back and treating.
Where abouts in London are you? And how much are you willing to spend?

I've had this for a few years now and it's definitely not a daily car, it lives in a garage and only goes out if there's guaranteed not to be any rain within a hundred miles :)
I was planning on spending some money on the car this year anyway, getting the paint perfect, maybe doing a few improvements and refurbishing the wheels.
I was going to say that I'm getting too old to be crawling around underneath cars, but the truth is I'm out of practice, and fatter and lazier than I used to be so I'm prepared to pay for for the work to be done properly. There are certain to be a few other bits underneath that need seeing to as well so I might as well get it all done at once and then get everything properly protected.
I'm in IG8.
Send a message to Dal on here. He'll sort you out
I bet the right side isn't just cosmetic. Mine looked like that and I left it, within a year parts of the turret metal were 'peeling' from the turret, and I had to cut out and replace. Left side I'd flap wheel back to clean metal, treat, and then paint. (left and right looking from the front)
Better to get it sorted sooner rather than later but no rush to find just anyone to do it. When I had my Jag I used Les Paul in Woodford green. They are Jag specialists but given jags rust for England, they should know what they're doing. I only used them for engine work. They aren't cheap but they are local and well established. It will probably be quite a lot cheaper if you take a wire wheel to it and remove the paint and rust to reveal the extent of the problem then clean up their handiwork afterwards and do the painting.

Honestly mate do it yourself!
For what some places charge you to do a repair like that you can buy a welder and material and teach yourself, it's not as scary as you might think, I did all the rust repair on my car myself and didn't know anything about how to weld or fabricate when I started, get on YouTube and the welding forums and you can learn it yourself.
Nothing better than fixing your own car. Massive sense of accomplishment
If you do want to have a go, I have a pretty decent mig welder and kit you can borrow, ToG.
You'd have to collect from Chelmsford but that's only 30 mins from Woodford.
Thanks for all the interest, advice and offers.
I'll give some thought to having a bash myself, but whether I do it or it gets paid for, it's definitely going to be fixed.
