Just got flashed by one of the bastids on one of 200 fooking road works on the M5 with a 50 speed limit. I was only doing just under 60. I'd best not get any ****ing points. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/mad.gif

Bad luck mate. I think I got flashed twice last night. Not sure but I hope not, once on the A1 and again on the A13. AR$E!!

If you dont hear or recieve anything within 2 weeks of the offence then forget about it. They have to inform you of 'intent to prosecute' within 2 weeks.

I got done by a cop with a laser entering a country lane, he didn't say whether it would go any further, but I got the court summons 5 months later. Do they need to tell me within 2 weeks too or is that just for cameras? http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

Its all motoring offences. If you get stopped by the Bill then they must either tell you then that they may, or intend to, prosecute (if you dont get a ticket there and then) or you should receive the intent to prosecute within 2 weeks through the post.

Not sure that's accurate. My uncle got a summons for Due Care on Friday for an accident that took place in early July. I think that plod are allowed to do what the f*cking well like to us mere mortals.

But was he informed that he may be prosecuted at the time of the accident? I would presume that he would have been if he had caused an accident and the police attended (just reading between the lines there).

Cadburys man

You have been done.

Here is the law

For motoring offences such as speeding, the police must inform you within 14 days of the alleged offence that they intend to prosecute. Normally if you get stopped you sign a form. This is the NIP. Notice of intended prosecution. You sign to say that you are aware that you may be prosecuted. You should be given a copy of this.

If it is a gatso or other camera device you will recieve a NIP through the post. 14 days is all the time they are allowed.

The only time when they can argue about this is when you have moved and failed to update the DVLA records about your change of address. In this case you have commited another offence since it is alegal requirement to inform DVLA for this very reason.

If the NIP comes after 14 days and you have not been trying to evade them then you return everything unsigned pointing out that they have failed to comply with the RTR of year????? and cannot procede. End of story.

After you have been given a NIP they have 6 months to summons you to court. IF they excede this time limit I believe there is another statute which states that they cannot procede. I would have to look it up in the vast collection of literature I have amassed fighting to keep a clean licence.

Cheers
Turbo pete.

P.S. Although not legally qualified as a barrister the current score is 6-0 ME/dad vs old bill. Anyone want some friendly advice feel free to drop me a line. I have laods of literature that could be of use if you end up going to court for all sorts of stuff.

Pete,
Is it literally 14 days or 14 working days?
If I got flashed on saturday 1st, would a notice have to come through before the saturday 15th?
Cheers

It'll be 14 days - not working days - as the law is based on the theory that you aren't legally expected to remember anything over 14 days ago...

Goes something like this...
"Were you driving the car sonny?"
"I can't remember your honor, it was at least 15 days ago!"
Just try not to add "And I was well pi$$ed up!"

Yep.

Get flashed on the 1st december - you must have a NIP by the end of the 15th december. After that you clean forget what happened.

Something to cheer you up.

What's the difference between a traffic patrol car and a g string?

You only get one **** in a gstring.

Sorry officers for any offence. I don't really hate you.

I've decided I'm going to take up mugging old ladies:- there's no way you'll get caught, no-one seems to give a t0ss anyway and, even if you ARE caught, you only get poncy community service which no-one does.

Much safer that risking everything doing over 70 on an empty motorway.....

Read in a weekend newspaper...

Lady had car stolen.
Lady found where car was.
Plod to busy to recover the car or do any investigation, fingerprints etc.
Plod told lady to steal her car back.

She stole the car back, but I bet if she'd broken the speed limit driving home they wouldhave nailed her... B@startds

And what about the lines they put on the road and then LEAVE there when the camera's removed?

On the M5 Southbound the cameras have been gone for about 2 years but STILL the lines are on the road.

It's reallt fun following some berk along the motorway who then does an emergency stop because he thinks there's a f*cking camera.

Nice one, Tony....

Ive driven in many countries and find that
Australia and the Uk are the worst for speed
cameras, speeding fines, etc ..it sort of like another tax ..a way of making money for the government ,a way to pay some policemans salary and it sucks, funny down this way I have only had one speeding fine in three years...

There's lots of spots like this on the M6 northbound between M/cr and the Lake District. And that berk would have been me http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif , the first time I ever saw them... http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

It's probabley best to convienently loose your DL when you get flashed by a camera, and send of for a new one, then you can at least show plod a clean liecense if you get pulled over.

This morning I saw a Range Rover with it's rear plate so covered in road crap that it was totally impossible to read, even from close up.

Could this be a solution?

"Sorry officer I had no idea. I'll clean it up & won't let it happen again http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif"

Incidently, didn't the government issue guidelines a few weeks ago stating that all speed cameras should be repainted in highly visible colours & moved so they were easy to spot? This came after a trail in Plymouth showed accidents go down by something like 700%....people saw the cameras, slowed down & weren't going fast enough the hurt anyone.

Cheers

The catch is they only have to paint "NEW" cameras, seems they cant be botherd to paint the old ones and possibly avoid some accidents from occuring.
But we all know why their there realy, dont we

That was the case until about 18 months ago. Now they cross-reference them and make sure you keep all of your hard-earned points.

However, if you get convicted for the 30th time for breaking into cars no-one does anything about it......b@stards.

If there is any traffic plod looking at this site, first of all P I S S off your not welcome, secondly, stop wasting time and chase real criminals, not people who are just minding there own bussiness, and like to own a nice car!

Maybe if everyone gave these old camera's in their area that they dont want to paint a nice coat of matt black, possibly then they would paint them the new visible colour. Now we all know our local camera's but others don't and also we don't always drive local do we. Just to add an old friend of mine sitting on 10pts got flashed by a camera at about 120mph in the early hours. In order to safeguard his license he slammed on the brakes and reversed back up the road into the camera bringing it to the ground and put his Emergency 4 quids worth over it and torched it ( Only cause he was so p***ed at the 2 grands worth of damage he had to do to his MR2. Still saved his license, fine ansd most importantly his job!

Should have torched it 'in situ'. I wouldn't try and knock one over. I'd rather get a long chain and attach it to the towing eye. Rip it out the ground and hurl it into the nearest river http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/mad.gif
