Hi guys,

New to this so bear with me.
Anyone found the perfect replacement for those crappy 6"x4" they put in the front doors yet?
Don't really want to start cutting thingds up until somebody else has proved they can be replaced.

I've fitted a set of 180Watt Pioneer 6x9'' speakers in the front doors of my S13.
It's easy to do!

1. Take off the door panel.
2. Unscrew the speaker plate and remove the speaker and plate.
3. Throw in the bin.
4. Use a jigsaw to cut a small amount out of the door panel. The size of the old speaker grill is enough.
5. Drill the 4 mounting holes for the new speaker and mount.
6. Replace the door panel after connecting the wires.

These speakers sound great as they are very bassy and balance the sound inside the cockpit.
You can really notice the difference over the standard setup.

Does the window still wind fully down?

I've noticed that they do come a bit close to the speakers that are already in there.

I've had no problems since I put mine in

It is well worth the effort when you hear the improvement in both sound quality and how loud they are.

Let me know how you get on.

Graham.

Erm ........ you sure youve got it turned up mate??
I saw a demo with a punch 40 I think - they connected the wires to opposing ends of a pencil, cranked and burnt all the wood off the pencil in about 5 seconds http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
Loudest amps Ive ever heard; definately louder with punch subs though http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

Speakers are running off the head unit (4x40 "Watts" rating not rms so absolutely meaningless) When I mean not loud, I won't be winning any SPL drags..

What I've done is put a component 6 1/2 in. and a 1 in. tweeter in it's place. The 6x9 works, but you get a richer mid bass sound from a round cone than you would from an oval. The tweeter picks up the highs. But all of that is just for stereophonic sound, 6x9's will get much louder and keep their sound at higher levels.

Update:

Managed to get some 6x9 in the front doors and I've also put two KEF 10" subs in the parcel shelf.

Quite a nice sound but could probably do with an amp...
