View Full Version : How about a bowling meet

Crooked200SX
05-03-2004, 20:00
Hello all

After some discussion with Shaman, I wondered how many people would be up for a meet with a bit of a difference.

Bowling!!!

As the Midlands lot seem to have some interest in a bowling meet I thought we could do a similar meet, and maybe an inter SXOC competition (If it catches on with the other areas).

Would anyone be up for this ?

the bowling alley would probably be the Gravesend AMF bowling center as its easy to get to and pretty central, unless anyone has a better suggestion that would be easier to get to but also has a big free lit car park that is safe as we will all be leaving our pride and joys there for a few ours.

dates and times are yet to be decided but can be sorted anytime. Best days would probably be monday and wednesday (Least busy so better prices as I know the manager)

Cheers

Smashing idea but i think people would prefer a Friday or Saturday evening or weekend during the day. People might travel further then ;)

Was going to plan one for around Braintree for the Essex/Suffolk/Cambs lot but if there is interest in this i will do something else like go-karting or paintball during the summer/autumn :D

Maybe a Sunday day. The only prob is that the bowling center fills up with Kids on the sat and sun, and Friday evening I won't be able to get a special rate as it is the busy time.

I am open to suggestions and can ask the bowling center for prices and dates etc when I find out how much interest there is.

Good idea, I'd be up for a spot of bowling:)

Paul, the bowling center in Gravesend isn't bad at all. If it was other parts of Gravesend though I would agree.

When there are a few more people interested I will put a proper list together, but so far we have

Nismo Mark + 1
Pugwash (possibly)
Ken
Me + 1
Vaughnwinn + 4
GrahamB
Vipers
Mark from Sumo-power
James N + 1
m4tt_c
Cdo1uk + 1
Thewizz

Total so far = 19 definates

I was hoping for a few more, so come on get your balls out and come bowling.

Good Idea Ken, I like the way you think :notworthy LOL

The total is up to nine, and I think I know of another 2 at least.

It would be a good idea for everone to post there availabality to get an idea of the best day to hold the meet.

I know for certain that Thursdays are out, and Fridays will be difficult to get enough lanes in one go without weeks of notice.

A Sunday evening may be good as all the shops surrounding the Bowling alley will be closed, and I know the local Asda has lost 70% of there car parking space so alot of people use the Bowling alley car park making parking difficult during the week!

But let me know whats best for everone and I will try and please as many people as pos.

Cheers

Right, I havent forgotton about the meet. I will be organising it for the end of April if that is OK with everone.

I am bowling in a competion this weekend and the weekend after next (4/4). As soon as these are out of the way, I will talk to the bowling center regarding cost and dates, and when I have the details I will post them here.

This will also give other people time to show interest.

Hi vaughnwinn hope u r well.

A date hasn't been set yet, but the plan is for the end of April.

Si

Crooked200SX
01-04-2004, 22:13
Right, I have some information at last

Can you let me know what you all think as soon as pos.

The plan is to hold the meet on the Sunday 2nd of May (Bank holiday weekend) time to be decided but I would go for something like 4PM so it's still warm and light.

The bowling alley is doing a special deal at the moment for a bowl and food party. The prices are as follows:

£13.95 for 3 games of bowling and a ploughmans (Free game)
£11.95 for 2 games of bowling and a ploughmans (Normally 13.95)
£12.95 for 3 games of bowling and a Basket meal (Free game)
£10.95 for 2 games of bowling and a Basket meal (Normally 12.95)

The Ploughmans is a buffet consisting of : Sliced Ham, Chedder cheese, Pate, Eggs harlequin, assorted Rolls, coleslaw, pickled onions, baby beetroot and branston pickle.

The Basket meal options are : Cheese & Spring onion panini, Tuna & sweetcorn ciabatta, Cheese and Bacon Burger, Spicy chicken wings and are all served with a salad garnish & lattice fries.

I personally would recomend the Basket Meal. All the party members must choose from the same menu though.

Shoe hire is included in the price. Certificates are also awarded to the winner and looser.

What do you all want to do. I am planning on putting 4 people to each lane which means that 3 games of bowling will take 2 hours + food, and 2 games will take 1hour 20mins + food, so it should still be light enough to have a butchers and each other's motors afterwoods.

It should be a laugh. I will need a £5 deposit for every person that will be bowling no later than 7 days before the event to secure places.

Discuss and let me know.

Si

Ken

Sorry Pugwash, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I have removed the tags from the website.

Faye does sometimes bowl OK. I think she bowled just over her average

It is a shame I didn't bowl like I did last night - 202, 167 and a 148 (not such a good game). Never mind.
