voodoo_melon
18-02-2004, 23:21
Dunno where the A1 is :wack: M1 isn't far though, just along the A50. Stoke is about 40ish miles north of Birmingham on the M6. Btw I know this is the SE section, I was just letting you lot know that we're gonna be there too :)

tonysmiff
18-02-2004, 23:26

voodoo_melon

GmasterT is coming over from Cambridge and meeting me near Bedford on the way, if a few Bedford boys are going we usually meet at sainsburys on Clapham road at 8.30-9. then convoy up the a6

dan e
21-02-2004, 16:41
Don't know my way round Bedford in the slightest , but if you guys do meet up there I'll tag along.

will confirm during the week but it's a good meeting place. If you go through Bedford (quickest way IMHO) to get to the pod you will pass sainsburys just before you get onto the new dual carriageway on the A6 (clapham bypass)

Anyone fancy popping over to the MK meet after the pod for a beverage and a natter? I'll be there and i've been forced to keep the ***** on the road as the pug has gone pop so keeping up the numbers

Grim
24-02-2004, 15:08
i'll tag along if it's dry. what time at sainsbury's?

A509 is a nicer road than a6 thou. imo

would be good to merge it into the evening meet:wave:

well that's not quite true is it? you know the bit where you pass me! the bp garage up on top, is the a6. if your going, i could meet you there.

but that's completely the wrong side of Bedford:confused: you want to be on the northbound A6

just turn right instead of going onto the bypass, and follow the road all the way through Bedford, it's a left then right just after the high street as part of the 1 way system. Follow the signs for Clapham and Rushden and you'll find sainsburys. I'll aim to be there by 8.45, leave at 9 to sign on nice and early

hadyn
24-02-2004, 18:34
wont be able to make this one  as Brutus will be fitting my new spoiler and generally hacking my car to bits

yes, i was going to post that we should meet at wicks or homebase, i knew dan knew where the bp was tho:nod:

dan, as danny says, when you get to the roundabout at the start of the bypass, don't go down the dual carriageway as usual, go stright on, up the hill on the single carriageway. first roundabout you have mfi on the right, go straight on, onto the DC. next roundabout turn left, then first lesft into homebase/wicks.

there is a pub there. we can meet there 8:30? ok dan? ok danny?
prehaps we should do moile swappsies. pm though, there are a lot of cranks on here:D last thing i need is jb ringing at 3 in the morning.....

dan e
24-02-2004, 19:18
That's fine with me.

Looking at the BBC weather forecast though, it says -2 to 4 degrees with rain and snow for Saturday (doesn't list sunday yet) so let's not get our hopes up. :indiff:

Not been before, but it's only down the road from Bedford... so we'll probably get there around 9:00.

GmasterT
24-02-2004, 22:50
I'll keep you posted Dan, cause if I dont stay in bedford (best mate back from uni at w/end) then we can meet in cambridge and we'll go from there (as former resident of bedford I know it well).

Its quite easy though :D

dan e
24-02-2004, 22:56
Had a look at my map and looks like finding Homebase will be a doddle, but we can mini-convoy if you want. :p

hadyn
24-02-2004, 22:57
make sure your AA/RAC cover will tow you home lads.....

And hope your clutches are up to the abuse, and if ur gearbox makes noise now, its gonna be deafening after a good bash down the pod!

To me, everyday is pod day!!!
Tryed to run 3 times before, in 3 different saabs & every sat nite before, i'd get g/box trouble (aka the santa pod curse) my mates GTE gets it too.

Hope it doesnt effect datsun's!!!

Dan E, if i'm not in cambs, me/danny/grim will meet up at hombase with you to lead you to clapham, dont worry mon!!! (need a rasta smily)

Sideways Danny
24-02-2004, 23:19
Ah the pod curse, oh how fondly i remember spending all night repairing a gear linkage then getting 45 minutes kip before heading off

Hadyn- s13's can always be bodged to get home:wack:

Grim
25-02-2004, 11:16

YES! Be very careful around Olney, or you may well come home with an extra complimentary time slip!

Grim
27-02-2004, 22:20
we are going a6 not 509, so olney not a problem

is the weather any consideration at all? if it's cold and wet, is everyone still going? not a problem for me, it's only 20 minutes down the road and i have all the gear from my rally spectating days, so i willbe warm and dry, but if they don't run is it worth it?

not saying i am not going, i will be at the orchard 8.30, just a discussion

Sideways Danny
28-02-2004, 19:43
well i dont think the cold will stop them running but the rain will if it's constant, I'm going out now, then we'r gona change some turbo gaskets when we get in

Tradition innit:D Can't sleep before a pod day, that's be cheating

Grim
28-02-2004, 20:27
looking out the window right now (12 hours before we meet up) my question would bemore about snow than rain:annoyed:

thermal undies are ready though...

Sideways Danny

find the fuel fump fuse and try starting it again then when it starts pu the fuse back in, (it's an s13 trick but same theory) give it a jump of another car too to give it some decent juice

dan e
28-02-2004, 21:25
Yeah that's the plan... just having a cuppa first. :)

dan e
29-02-2004, 06:32

Sideways Danny

Best reaction: 0.7something

Very slippery, couldn't start with more than 2k rpm or just span the wheels.

GmasterT
01-03-2004, 20:23
15.3  dissapointed, It could of it 14's but we didnt do the turbo gaskets in the end.

Damn right ;)

I was 1.013, He was 1.790
I have no LSD, He has and launch control!

It was the only chance I had! (still, 1.013 is still crap!)

Head start! You challanged me! (under the influence of grim who was too scared to run!)

Still, best man won :wack:

well me and dan thought it would look bad for the club if the s13's with their years and years of development lost to an unmodded 14a, with a fat bloke driving, so he voluntered to run his s14. trouble is, he still beat everyone, danny started sulking, then went to sleep. the only way we could think of making it fair, was for him to start with the handbrake on, and when the lights changed, he quickly opened the manual for his traction control, found the page for launch control and pressed the right buttons.

any mention of terminal speeds on that last run?

i can't remember exactly but wasn't it

s13 86mph
s14 101mph

or something? nice to see those years of nissan develepment weren't for nothing.....
