I went to a favorite Jap restaurant in london tonight. Okonomiyaki Abeno. 47 Museum Street.

They're specialist (only one of their kind in Europe!) and the food is great. They make the japanese 'Pizza' Equivalent (Eggy/flowery things with a huge selection of toppings)

Averages £30-35 a head for a good meal + pudding + drinks. Quite reasonable considering it's Japanese, Specialist and Central London.. They cook the Okonomiyaki on the table :)

very small and cozy restaurant.

So, anyone interested in going there en-mass one night ?

We'd need to book at least a month ahead and I'd need a clear show of hands to do so. For the sake of giving us some point to aim at, how does a a Saturday night, late Aarch or early April sound to those interested ? Both would be after pay day (well, for me) :D

Cheers

and I've never even heard of it. I'll keep it in mind :)

the reason I suggested a jap restaurant was erm, for cultural (read "car manufacturer"!) reasons :D

noticed mellon stu's pimping a meal up north. Are we all so down and out in and about London that nobody has any interested in a nice meal out ? :D

Brighten up! :D

This is quite substantialy unlike any other japanese food you're likely to ever have been exposed to :D

Think Pizza but with egg, all the ingredients having been cooked very well indeed. ;)

Oh, and there is no particular concentration on fish, either, for those who aren't into the seafood.

Hell, they even put cheese on it :) :notworthy

what ? mcdonalds ? :p

Other cool alternatives are Wagamama, who are relatively cheaper, and still alot of fun (noodles, interesting tables) - fusion food! (thai, jap, chinese, malay, etc)

They're near selfridges, one road north of oxford street, close to bond street station.

to compare the two, Wagamama is more mass market, with food which will probabley suite a wider range of tastes. Abeno is like you've just landed in a small japanese home-food eatery ;).

Averages are around:

Wagamama - 20 a head :)
Abeno - 30 :indiff:
