I need to replace the pads and discs on my '97 s14a and I am looking at potential upgrades.

Are the EBC pads and discs OK?
Where is the best place to buy - Demon Tweaks?

Cheers

Nik

NO!
If you want EBC give me a shout!
(I haven't had any complaints (YET!) from the guys who've fitted them and I'm probably gonna fit EBC to my car until I get the R33 GTR calipers fitted (eventually, when I've bought them! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif)

Try Middlehurst motorsport. They must often have R33 Disks Calipers leftover from Skyline upgrades.

I paid £300 for a complete set (incl. Brembo calipers, hoses) from a 9,000 miler. Not only is the braking awesome but they look HUGE!

Bear in mind you need bigger wheels though.

What sort of price can you do mate?

Cheers

I've just had the motor in for a service, as the disks need replacing I thought I'd up grade them. Where can I get hold of EBC disk?
Whats the model number and most important.. how much?

Ooops! just read your post Matt, couldn't see the wood etc. I'll give you a ring in the morning, if thats ok. Its my front disks that are worn, would I need to change out the rears to keep things balanced?

Hi JohnD76,

Sorry for the late reply...been a busy day.

Take a look at (last Pic at the bottom):
http://www.geocities.com/golders_uk/VCRossCownleys200SX.html

I was fairly lucky to get them at that price, it included Disks (330mm), Pads, Calipers, hoses, gromets , sprockets, Widgets etc...got ND to fit them and they work like a dream. Not much room so I hope you have 18" Wheels!

Cheers Ross,

Am looking into these R33 brakes, need to change mine soon. They are poo.

I heard that the R33 discs are £500 each though? I had a chat with Gary at Middlehurst about them. Would like 4 pots, and may know someone upgradeing his R33 to 6 pots soon. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks once agina,

John.

PS Nice car!

Cheers John,

Wow, did'nt know they were £500 each.....better sell the car before they need replacing!

Mine are 4-Pots and more than enough for road driving...you would have to be some sort of nutter to get any fade.

Only problem is that that make the rear disks look miniscule! Why not lurk on a Skyline board and post a message...

Good thinking batman! I have done already..

Thats what Gary recommended, may have someone who is interested...

Mind you, my neighbour had to have his rear (miniscule) discs replaced to get the car through an MOT and they want £500 for the pair I think!!! Can you believe that? Standard S14 rear discs £500.

That does seem a bit steep. I was the same, needed new Discs to get through MOT so decided to upgrade....same with the rears but they were only around £350 from Nissan (I think - sure I would have remembered if they were £500!)...that must have hurt.

I dont mind spending money on the car for 'fun' things but Nissan want £250 to fix my faulty Fan Motor (aircon/heater fan!)..I told them they could suck my ****.

Haha

I went for Pagid discs and EBC green stuff pads in the end after looking into what was available and the prices.
8 Groove discs for my S14 were £160+vat (part no. D52337/8G)
Got them from

Err guys, I'm quite sure you're talking pap. I've spoken to SEJOC in Tilbury (Essex) and their large (front) disk and bell conversion was less that 500 notes.
I've got front and rear Skyline GTR disks and calipers sitting in my garage and I can confirm that the rears are not a direct swap. The calipers will bolt straight on, but the drum part of the rear disks is larger for the Skyline, which means major arsing around to make them fit. I'm going to investigate getting some custom rear disks made up to fit...
I'll let you know....
