Hello people,i am hoping to be an s14 owner soon. There are some bargains about at the moment.I am looking at spending under £5000 but the only ones i have seen have mileages around 100k.Are these still a good buy or will there be possible problems with this mileage. How long does the turbo usually last on them? thanks for your help.

You'll be extremely lucky to get a decent S14 for £5K, unless you buy from Japan or get a high mileage example.

The Turbo should last around 70000miles depending on how its been driven or whether its been modified.

Hi,
Yeah, I wouldn't go down as low as 5K if I were you. I got mine a year ago for 7K, and it's got a fair few miles on the clock. I drove a couple, one with 45k on the clock, and mine with 93k on the clock. I remember being amazed how easy they were to drive and how identical they were.
Since then mines now on about 110k and apart from the clutch begining to pack in (probably the original so not bad huh ?) there's nothing wrong with it. If you do get one with a high mileage try to find out how much has been replaced, especially the turbo. I've read the suspension bushes on the rear subframe tend to go - but i guess this depends a lot on how it's been driven.
I reckon most high milage examples have spent most of their lives on the motorway.

Service history is a must. If the oil isn't changed at least every 6K then things tend to wear in the engine, esp the turbo. Problem with cheaper/older cars is that the previous owner may have been a cheapscate and missed out on those oil changes.

go for a late L or M reg s13 if I were you , should get you a fully loaded low mileage one for that with change. But maybe I am biased. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yep, go for a 94 L/M S13 if possible, should get a decent low mileage example for under £5k, plus the later one's come with leather.

Cheers for the help,i did originally want an s13 but the more i've seen the s14 the more i've wanted one.So i might spend a bit more and get a good one, if i have a word with the old bank manager that is.Looked at an s14 on sunday actually but the wheels had been sprayed gold and it was a bit untidy looking, probably why it was £4495.I'll keep looking for now, keep you posted.

Hi Silver, Yep sorted got my S14 about a month ago now.Well pleased with it http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif.I bought mine privately out of auto trader.I could only afford to spend £4000 really but i managed to find one for this price. Its an m reg with 98k miles with full nissan history, which is very important with that sort of mileage. Its a brilliant car to drive very fast with smooth power delivery.Check out autotrader, adtrader and exchange and mart they all have websites.Let us know how you get on.
