Wheel questions

OK, I'm probably gonna get some wheels soon and need to know a few things about sizes and tyre combinations.
What I need to know is what width wheels are best for the front and back on 17" and 18" and the tyre size combinations front and back. I think that makes sense. Basically what width tyres fit on what width wheels and what width do I need for the back and what width for the front.
This is getting a little confusing now, read it a couple of times and it will make sense.
Also what offset do I need.
I think thats all I need to know.

Hi there,

I also want to buy me some rims. And here are the sizes that I have in mind

Either 17"

Front 17x8 with 235/45/17 tyres
Rear 17x9 with 255/40/17 tyres

Or 18"

Front 18x8 with 235/40/18 tyres
Rear 18x9 with 255/35/18 tyres

Not too sure about the offset actually. I would be happy if I could find some rims that are 9" wide and which are not too expensive.

I'm in two minds about the wheels I want. I would also prefer 8x17 at the front and 9x17 on the rear.

I'm thinking custom split rims - but this is an expensive option. At least you'll be sure of getting the exact size and offset you want though.

I agree with you on that one.

It seems that only the more expensive rims offer those sizes. The cheaper ones only come in 17x7 and maybe even in 17x8...

But usually they aren't available in 17x8.5 or 17x9 or even 17x10...

And that's a real shame really, because FR cars should have wiiiiiiiiiiiide wheels in the back... especially turbocharged cars like the 200sx.
