I'm looking to buy a 200sx because they seem to be the best value performance car on the market. is it a case of the latest cars were the best? are there common problems on early/late cars? what are there weak points? are there any good tuners? are there any clubs, meetings etc? thanks for any help

Off subject, but is there still a modified and american car do at the restaurant that used to be called Calenders, its near solarbowl, I think???

I'm looking for one as well a 97- touring for about 8-9k. If you see any post it here. Let us know what your thinking of and if I find any I'll post the details.

Ian D,

As everyone on this board will tell you, the best 200 by far is the late s14a. Manual of course, and finished in emerald green with cream leather.

Don't consider touching an s13, by now they are all smokey basket cases. Also, remember the 200 is a sports car, so of course should never be purchased with an auto box. To be fair though, auto 200sx arely come up for sale as they are almost exclusively owned by dear old ladies who only use their cars to drive to the local coffee morning, and who tend to hang on to their motors till they die.

This is true.

Quick note...
s14* manual @350bhp needs a new gearbox
s14* auto @350bhp just wants more power.

A good reason to consider an auto.

Glyn Hopkin are selling ex Nissan company auto 200sx's for around 10K ish at the moment, I got my NEW auto touring for 13K from them.

One thing to think about with either a s13 or s14 200sx is that they are both high power rear wheel drive cars and i would say that unless you have driven high power rear wheel drive cars in the past that you should probably go for a manual if you can find one, as they are more predictable than an auto.

Hope this helps.

cheers for the help? I want an s14 because i'm looking 4 a new car, the s13 is a nice car but to old! I want a manual because the're more fun, the auto for most people would be the better choice because they can be driven quick (unless you are a truly good driver), the driver is looking at racing lines etc, not pissing around with changing gear.i really want to know if the car has many problems? engine, gear box etc. thanks again for all the help.

Have to agree with Geoff that S14s, especially in Emerald are the ones to get.

S13 Manuals tend to get driven by boyracer/drugdealer types with no sense of responsibility http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

However, Geoff is wrong about manuals. All right-thinking people recognise their superiority to the outdated manual gearbox version. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

The buyers guide gives you most of the info you need. Although it's based on the S13 all the basic checks are the same.

Geoff_S14 watch it, everyone knows that the S13 is by far the best Nissan ever made. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif
