How easy are turbo timers to fit? Why doesn't the removal of the key from the ignition not cause the immobiliser to cut the engine? And any recommendations on different makes?

Must admit I took the easy way and let Silvia Engineering fit my Blitz MSTT while they were servicing it.
Great toy that also does a good job in protecting your turbo.
The MSTT has some real good timing tricks 0-100kph, 0-200kph and the near impossible dream 0-300kph, standing 400m and 800m.
The TT overides you taking the key out, there is a handbrake switch that cuts the engine if the handbrake is released ie some scum trying to nick your car.
The standard (S14?)immobiliser only cuts in 20 secs after the engine stops and therefore removing the chip in your key from proximity to the ignition doesn't kick in until the TT has cut the engine.

So what happens about the alarm? Is there an override on the TT to stop the alarm tripping when is senses the voltage change once the engine finally swithes off?

My turbo timer from Blitz is the basic function model, easy to install once speed sensor wire located, info supplied in jap but coding for S14 & SR20DET (?) make ID of correct ECU pattern easy. Cross checked on 240SX site in USA www.240sx.org (http://www.240sx.org) Had to use multimeter to ID correct ignition wires. Alarm does not set on timer countdown. Can advise on wiring colours if needed. Peter

I'm afraid i've found you either lock the door, with key, and walk away un alarmed, but immobilised or you wait until TT runs down before triggering central locking and alarm otherwise you realy piss off your neighbours.
If you've wound up the tubby timer to a real long wait, you have probably been driving in a manner to render your legs a bit weak anyway!

Sorry thats an S14 standard alarm type answer, I dunno about S13's and aftermarket alarms.
