I thought we would be lifting/fitting your engine, not Dave! Better make that a crane then!:D

Honestly - yes, we will need a hoist. A long reach one, unless you wanna take the bumper off...

If Steve does it (and I would say the same) its easier totake the lump and box out complete, swap box/turbo over, then put back in as a whole...

In that case, dont forget the following:
Gaskets for turbo/maifold
Oil for gearbox (and engine, do it all at once)
Antifreeze

Anything else you wanna fit (like quick shift/T28 etc - do it now, its easier....)

arry
21-09-2003, 00:43
the T28 is on at the mo

gearbox oil is gonna be changed for decent gear

turbo mani gaskets have just been changed so will keep same one, should be ok right?

If thats all i need - sorted :)

If the engine is deffo going to be at mine on Saturday I'll sort out a crane. I might be able to borrow one but getting it to mine is a prob. Otherwise I can arrange hire of one for about £25ish.

arry
21-09-2003, 21:53
arrange one steve, will sort you the money for it saturday if thats ok? Dont worry about borrowing if its gonna be hassle, aint worth it for that kinda dough.

The engine should almost 100% be there, only thing is would like to get it sent for the friday instead of sat - would you be about to take it? I may even get it delivered to me and stick it in me trailer down to you sat morning.

Also the car needs to come down by trailer - will prolly do that midweek - probably best if i ring you to discuss tomorrow :) Are you working?

Stevecarter200
22-09-2003, 05:56
Im working wed-fri and cant guarantee what time I'll be home as some days its 11pm and crap like that so there wont be anyone here.

Gimme a bell tomorrow (today?) mate and we'll sort something out.:)

Stevecarter200

Couldnt get a rear oil seal but managed to get the spigot out of the crank using a bit of copper pipe.:)

Not looking forward to today, got to put the sump back on and I'm feeling a touch iffy at the mo', vodka and redbull last night and not getting home till 4.30 is bad.

arry
28-09-2003, 17:24
She's a RUNNER :D

Never seen so much oil pressure in my life lol - about 80psi of it warm when gunnin it :) No knocks, no smoke = BIG SMILES :D

Thanks SO SO SO much to everyone that helped out yesterday, and so so SOOOOOOOO much to steve who nursed a hooooooge hangover to get the right result today

Still got the odd problem here and there, mainly the waterpump shaft being a touch bent :( so thats gotta come off, new cam belt needed in the process.

Other than that shes belting :) Only running 7psi at the mo as on a std T28 actuator, std intercooler and fuelling so need to let the bank balance recoup before whacking all the go faster goodies on and having myself a blinding motor

Thanks to EVERYONE for your support. So glad to finally be clear of (SE's ahem i mean) trouble :)

Call this a hunch, but I expect it to somehow be more reliable on its 10th attempt:D
Good luck Arry!
Hope you got those engineers reports before fitting the engine!

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I'm feeling sentimental.

It's exactly 2 years since Steve, Mark, Crazy Eddie and others gave up their time on a saturday morning in Colchester to help me.

I'm still as grateful now as I was then. Thank you :notworthy

Is this the same engine that has out lasted the nine rebuilt Silvia Engineering/SE Nissan/Nistech engines that you had previously?

arry
27-09-2005, 13:23
Yup, same engine - running sweet as you like at Stage3

(touches wood - oooo that feels nice :smitten: :D)

Cosy
27-09-2005, 14:35
Look we know it's your birthday, but surely touching wood is a thing we sghould not know. I am considering that trailer option to take you to the pod.
