Roughly how many MPGs should I be expecting from my S13 auto? It seems to turn in about 25 backwards and forwards to work and (I thought amazingly) about 35 on a run (330 miles on <3/4 of a tank the other day). The latter figure seems to correlate with the owners handbook figure (says 36). Is the around town fig about on the mark?

I have a manual so auto is usually a little bit less.

Worst I got was 16mpg.
Best was 30mpg. Usual 26-28mpg. Depends on your mood more than anything.

My auto does 26-27mpg and, on a big run, about 30.

Yeah....to get my 35 mpg I made a point of driving very sensibly from Carlisle up to my folks house at Berwick (and then, rather against my will, up to a bloody garden centre near Edinburgh with my aged mother wedged in the back seat whining about watching the speed limit) and back. So probably never exceeded 3,000 rpm while cruising along. Is there a rear ejector seat mod for this car? I suspect if I was going to take the car to the Continent, which I might later in the year, I could get 39 mpg! But then I'm a stingey old thing.

Of course, if you were driving to the Continent it wouldn't matter what your MPG was because fuel costs next to f*** all to buy - so long as you're not in the UK!

The Government keep rabbiring on about using public transport but then they would, they never have to use it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dunno about that...petrol in France always seems to be only slightly cheaper or about the same price as UK.
