View Full Version : Location of the S/W Mega meet
Please vote for where you think we should hold the South West 'Mega Meet' ;) :D
Please try to think about where you think would encourage the greatest number of people to show up, rather than just voting for where ever is nearest to your house :p
Once we have decided a location, we'll come up with a date, perhaps with another poll?
I think a sensible time limit on this poll would be about a week, maybe two? So get voting and in a week or two, which ever location has the most votes will be the winner :)
Mods - can this be a sticky please :)
Where's the option for Bath/Longwell Green? :p :D

voted for Bournemouth/Poole, :)
but would vote for Castle Coombe if we could use the track!
as Pete C mentioned, could hold it at Longwell, we know that:
1, We can hold meets there
2, Its undercover if it rains
3, There are plenty of "refreshment" areas'
Does sound good............:D
The only problem is, is it central?????????????
Come on peeps get your votes in soon!!!!!!!.........
B'mouth would be (understandably) easy for me.
But Castle Combe and Longwell boh sound like good places too.
The problem with being on the coast is access. There are only a few DC's that lead into B'mouth and the rest are cracking 'B' roads unless you get stuck behind a caravan:mad:
***;)
You've got it easy! Try getting anywhere from Salisbury!

shepton is bad but where i am in frome :wack:
I don't know what it takes to get people to vote on this poll! I've posted two threads drawing attention to it and still there's only been 23 votes! :annoyed: :annoyed:

Maybe that is all of the S.W. membership. No, I don't believe that.
Come on everyone vote as to where to hold it.
Not being a local I don't know where half the places are, so I haven't voted lol.
As always, will consider gatecrashing the SW meet if I'm free and the weather's nice and interesting people are going ;) :p :D

Weston could cause some hassle with the local rozzers, all they need to see is a go faster stripe and they're all over you like a rash!
well, o.k. it's not that bad but it's not far off! :furious:

well, o.k. it's not that bad but it's not far off! :furious: We could advise them of our intentions...
Longwell sounds good to me -and i dont live that closeso am not being selfish :D
Like bart said, they dont have a problem with us being there....
plenty of places to eat, drink and be merry:D
undercover - good for the blittish rain :)
Castle Combe or Bournemouth sound good to me :)
Theres a problem with CC........either:
1 - we have it to ourselves, which would cost a HUGE amount, or
2 - we gatecrash something like a CCC even as we have in the past, but you cant get many stand spaces - and im hoping more than 20 peeps will be turning up.
This is a problem that's been knocking about in my head for the last few days... :(

If there's no event on at the Combe (if it gets the vote), think its better be Longwell. What do others think?

:smash: going once.....going twice.......sold to longwell :D
I've just checked the events calendar on the Castle Combe web site, and there's bugger all that would suit a club event. I have to say I would prefer a more interesting venue than Longwell...
If Castle Coombe is a no go then which ever location finishes as runner up could be used?
You can square it all with the Weston police then Jeff! :D
There is a campsite just outside Weston which may do the job? I can get further info if you like?
Quite a few in that area:
http://albionroamer.co.uk/lstsnwestonsupermare.htm
http://albionroamer.co.uk/lstsmburnhamonsea.htm
http://albionroamer.co.uk/lstsmhighbridge.htm
Do people want a meet somewhere we can camp over night?
Camping's probably a popular choice. Think we'd better start thinking about making this a definite location and setting a date. People have had plenty of chances to vote differently.

Further to the camping idea, know of any campsites near cider farms? :D
I only live 20mins from Weston-super-Donkey but a word of warning:-
It's boy-racer Heaven
I would NOT recommend Weston.
Plod are all over the place, it's infested with cameras and camera vans and there are simply THOUSANDS of knobhead teenagers everywhere in Fiestas with big wheels and loud stereos.
Wherever we go, can someone local give the lowdown on speed cameras and likely van locations?
:annoyed: ;) If Weston is also a no go, then Bournemouth/Poole is next on the list. Anyone got any issues with having it there?
probably the same reasons as Weston.......all those sort of places attract the fiesta/pram crew :(
and in turn the local constabulary who are just itching to see what your car looks like in cube form.
Anything wrong with Warminster then? Besides the gangs of squaddies wandering around looking for things to smash :D
Suppose we could go to somewhere like Bowood .
They'd be chuffed to f*ckin' bits to see a load of Turbo'd Japanese Coupes turn up to view their stately home! :p
Doughnuts on the lawns, anyone........?:wack: :notworthy

Well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd place locations all have 'issues' I was suggesting we carried on down the list to 4th ;) There must be somewhere to camp near Warminster for those that wanted to?
 We can discuss this with Bart at Longwell. He lives there.
You're in charge then mate :D I can't make Longwell this month
Nicely delegated! :D OK, will discuss. Hopefully most people will be OK with the location. If not it might be back to square one.
How about the New Forest.
Some of the best roads I've driven on (I cut my rear wheel drive teeth there:thumbs: ) Loads of camping places and several good pubs to get lashed at in the evening.
And the best bit is I've never, ever seen any Old Bill there:wave:

New Forest is Poole sort of area isn't it? That location did rather well on the poll so perhaps that is the best bet?

I like the idea. Good for camping and pubs as ***** says.

the only place I can think of in the NF is a campsite called 'Sandy Balls' ....no i'm not making that up!:D ...... It's very nice but quite possible a little on the expensive side, it's also very much a family site so may not be too pleased about a load of turbo nutter b:censored: tard cars ( as my boss referes to mine:notworthy ) turning up.
Yeah. Sandy Balls is in Godshill near Fordingbridge. They'll be cheaper places than that. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm going home this weekend. so as I'm passing through the New Forest I'll have a look around for appropriate meeting/camping sites.
For those who don't know it, the only possible hazards I can see are the local horses (equine NOT female!), you don't want to be hitting one of them on a blind bend:D

I've got a good place in mind but will need to checkit further.
Found the web site I was after.
Its the Red Shoot Camping Park, Linwood (near Ringwood). Its got great facilities and a good pub next to it and is reasonably priced (as long as it isn't Bank Holiday weekend! )

My mate used to play in a band there occasionaly. It's a cracking pub next to the camp sight and there are some superb roads in and around (anyone for Top Gear stylee photoshoots?)
This one definately gets my vote.

The new forest sounds like a good idea to me:thumbs:
any idea of dates yet! sept would be best for me!
Bart's mentioned the regular Bournemouth car event (can't remember what it's called). This falls on a Sunday, so there may be a possibility of combining depending on dates.
Sounds good to me
The Bournemouth thing is the 23rd, which clashes with Weston Wheels apparently.
