Anyone ever had a bent crankshaft? I am looking for a company to regrind mine and some are telling me it is possibly bent and therefore extra cash to grind. I've heard many people have had re-grinds.

Also anyone know how much can be ground off? I'm looking at a 10 thou low spot on mine.

cheers

Colin, Mine was ground by a local company, big ends and main journals for £50 + VAT, the most they can take of is 40 thou from the original spec. I only had 20 thou off though.

If it's bent, then bin it. There are people around who will straighten them, but they tend to bend again from what I've heard.

It doesn't add up financially either.

Second hand crank purchase, re-grinding, new bearings, end of story.

Straightened crank, cost of straightening, re-grinding, new bearings.

Nothing in it really, until the crank bends again, at which point you wish you'd fitted a new crank in the first place!
