anyone reckon one of these could be plumbed in? Does anyone know what the stock intercooler can flow and at what power output it gives up being any use?
more importantly, does anyone know if it will fit or has anyone tried it?

Hi mate, I didn't get too see a Skyline IC, but after a chat with some Starion owners it seems that the Escort Cossie one would fit, it has very good flow and it also has a charge cooler built in, I can probably get one for £150.

I should think it would fit. I've just got an Evo VI intercooler and after stripping the car down have found today that you can fit it basically without having to cut much and i reckon I can use most of the old pipes. If so £100 for the intercooler seems very cheap to me. Theres plenty of room once you take the bumper off to fit the intercooler right in the air intake opening just in front of the bonnet trelease lever. if you look at the HKS one on www.puresx.co.uk (http://www.puresx.co.uk) you'll see what I mean. dont reall see the point in moving the radiator back like most people seem to do. its also best to have your intercooler as near the cold air as possible. will put pics up of mine next week. My mates got an R32 GTR and his intercooler would definitely fit. good luck

I had a look at the GTR website yesterday and the Skyline IC is in the same place as on the S13 & S14. It might fit, worth a try if you can get one for good money.

The Skyline boys do upgrade their IC's when they want serious power anything up to 1200bhp. After reading about their mods I believe they don't upgrade them until they want >400bhp.

I could be wrong?

According to Abbey Motorsport the standard Skyline IC can handle up to 1.2BAR, can't remember what that is in PSI, forgotten the equation?

1.2 bar is about 17.5 PSI - not really that much... I guess they didn't need to worry so much about the pressure with the bigger turbo's ... any idea what horsepower those intercoolers are rated to ?

BeansS14 - do you know which intercoolers they usually go for when going over 800bhp ?

Yep, just calculated 1.0BAR to be roughly 14.23PSI.

After looking at some of the car on the GTR Register,
http://www.gtr.co.uk

They seem to go for HKS and PACE IC's, there are probably more, take a look for yourself at their site.

About the Max BHP. I guess the Boost Pressure is more important than the BHP rating of an IC.

For example, I believe Skylines run around 400bhp at only 1.2 BAR before going for an upgraded IC.

For a 200SX to get near 400bhp you'd need to be running nearer 2BAR.

You'd obviously need a **** load of other modifications done as well!

It's all proportional.
