And ALL the shells AND regrind for £110?? I've suddenly got that 'stitched up' feeling. Paid £200 for mine! And you'll prob be back on the road sooner too!

...this big end job of mine is REALLY depressing me now!!!

I know this sounds dumb but, I can't believe that a gasket set really does have every concievable gasket, oil seal, valve seal etc in it.

I understand why they are 70 odd quid now.

I'm very impressed.

Just hope I remember to put 'em in before I bolt everything up.

hi jezz !

it sounds as if they've almost certainly quoted you for cheap shells -
i would definitely splash out the extra for goods ones - the good ones have any extra layer (white metal on copper on metal)
the cheap ones don't have the copper layer and wear the crank very quickly when they start to wear
i think the ae part numbers you want are AEM5395 and AEB4616 in whatever oversize you need -
even if you pay a good trade price the decent b/ends and mains will still cost around £85 together + approx £8 each for journals that need regrinding

i'm not sure what you mean when you say you haven't checked the big-ends ? they'll be more likely to need grinding than the mains, or did i mis-understand ?

best,
andy
