View Full Version : Dodgy Dipstick? or am I the dipstick?
Is it me or is the 200sx Dipstick dodgy?
I have put in over a litre and a half of FS Oil and it hardly registers on my stick.
There is a reading but it's very faint.
Is this normal? The car does not leak any oil at all.
Can you please help as I am scared of damaging the turbo through lack of oil.

Listen, I dont want to be a soothsayer of doom but I had the same problem. I could not get a reading. Soon after a conrod left the engine block.
Check your oil pressure.

Yep the dipstick is crap,
Assuming u have no leaks the beat way to ensure u have the correct level is do an oil change (3 litres,3.5 with new filter).
I agree totally what were Nissan thinking of when they designed the dipstick!!!
I second the opinion that the dipstick is pants! I went to look at a 200sx once that was showing nothing on the dipstick even though the oil had just been changed..
Just got this thread confused with "Race Technology Performance Meter, any good?" and got Race Technology Performance Dipstick.. Matt_S, do you sell these? http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif
There isn't a great deal to complain about with the S13 but the leccy aerial is sh!te and whoever dreamt up the dipstick is a f*cking idiot.

Would it be worth measuring the dipstick, and going down the local breakers in hunt for a better one.. like from a 405 or something.. It is cr@p!
Surely many of them are the same diameter, and just have a helpful measure onthe end!
