Just bought a 200SX - help needed!

Hi, picked up my 200SX earlier today. It's a 1989 automatic version. Never driven one before, so can anyone enlighten me on the sort of noise levels that are normal? It's hardly noisy, but seems really thrashy when revved. Also seems to be an exhaust smell coming into the cabin. Anyone else had such a difficulty?

Hi Riddler, welcome. I find my S13 to be a bit thrashy past 5 1/2K revs, but I suppose that is fairly high revs and it is an engine design over 10 years old. Maybe check the oil level.
As for the exhaust smell, I can only suggest that you check the exhaust system and down pipe at the front of the car. A bit lame but I hope it helps.
