Any help appreciated as I'm hunting down the breakers yard

Is there a certain caliper u need to fit ( i understand its the ealier Aluminium type) no the steel one.

Please help ( as my late spec s13 ones are a little poop, especially as i like to brake HARD!!!

Hi mate, I have the later steel ones, and they were fitted By norris designs while he was doing some other work on my car. I didnt have any probs with the ABS light though. I've heard that afetr a bit of hard breaking the alloy units can overheat and give uneven pressure to the disk, this is probably why they where changed at a later date.

I've got the steel ones, I heard that only Japanese & American 300's got the aluminium calipers, and I also heard that they warp.

I've got the 300ZX ali. calipers. They were off a 1991 Twin turbo. They cost £80 for the pair. Didn't have any probs with the ABS.

Sound like you may have caught the wires to the speed sensors on one of the front wheels. In the S13 manual theres a comprehensive diagnostic prodcedure to follow to find out what the problem is.

If you've got any more questions, just ask.

Cheers

I think the reason they changed the calipers from ali to steel was just down to the cost. I've been using my ali calipers for over a year now and have done around 10 - 15 trackdays with no probs at all.

Waiting till i fit the 17's first.

Hmm if they can stand a track day with no probs the that must mean the warping rumours must be pap.

All I can say is that I've never had any problems with them using them very hard on the track.

I would recommend using the 30mm thick 300ZX disks instead of the std S13 22mm ones though. The caliper pistons come out a long way when using 22mm disks and worn pads.

On the track I use std. 300ZX disks (only £80 for a pair) and Mintex M1155 pads - work really well with nearly no fade after repeated brakes from 120mph+

Oh yeah - spose I should say you have to drill 3 extra stud holes in teh 300ZX disks cos they're 5 stud and not 4. It's very easy to do if you have a pillar drill...
