I recently learned on the aussie yahoo forum, that the ca18det has an oil cooler ?
Funny lookin' round shinney thing at the oil filter.... it fails and is responsible for leaks, as a few have experienced.
Anyone here had any problems with theirs ?
I'd think a coolant passage was used as a media to absorb heat - do you think that funny looking stuff appearing in the coolant, posted here recently, may be related ?
What affect on oil pressure would such a cooler failure have ?
Any one eliminated this cooler and installed the conventional air cooled type ? How ?
Oddly, seems to be more concern about oil temperature *instead* of fitting oil pressure guages to these cars.... think low pressure guage reading may alert one *before* costly bottom end bearing failure ?
any thoughts on this ?
