what do i need?

Right mate this is not as difficult as you may have thought.

You need the engine and gearbox (obviously!) plus the ECU and wires.

The engine and box will bolt straight in, so no problems there.
Wires, well it depends on you. There are quite a few places on the web that detail this swap and could help you out with wiring, otherwise pay someone to do it.
Getting hold of a motor is not too hard, I've seen complete S14's with light front damage for under 2k, take the engine and break the rest then you'll make some cash back.

All in all, it'll cost about the same to fit a second hand SR20DET as it will to fully rebuild your CA18DET.
