I take all the easy bits off first (where it's not fully touching the body) then gentle stab/scrape at it with a flat head screwdriver and take chucks off like that. Then with the harder stuff I scratch into it criss crossing then just stab/scrape at it again. Just becareful not to scratch the bodywork too deep, I've not done that yet *touches wood* the primer has covered over the light scratches - I'm going to be finishing it off in black

I used a chisel and a big hammer:wack: if you angle the chisel at a 45 degree angle and hit medium hard mine popped of reasonably easy,it was rubbing down the stickt brown tar residue with petrol that sucked! be careful not to dent the metal with the chisel though.

I tried as many different methods as I could think of removing my sound deadening. Apart from dry ice.

1) Hand + flat-head screwdriver
2) Hammer + chisel
3) Heatgun & chisel
4) Soaking in white spirit.

1) Boring, painful, slow. Shit.
2) Perfect for the boot section, and certain parts where the adhesion to the steel was poor or non-existent.
3) Perfect for the inner arches, transmission tunnel and front floor sections. Quick-as-you-like
4) Fcuking LOL! Allows you to remove the bitumen with just tissue paper. Liquefied bitumen = Nasty & messy.

or get somebody else to do it :D:whip:

Finally my back is a little better and I can handle more than 10seconds of 'work'

So now I've got the head off and turbo manifoldetc (3 bolts on the front pipe/elbow were a pain in the arse

Now I need the bottom end, box and propshaft out... then it'll be grinding the flange off the CA box and sending the CA flange, z32 clutch housing for a bit of loving as with the CA and z32 propshaft!

This picture makes me 'lol' a bit :wack: shows a little more perspective

I borrowed my uncles Driveway jetwash... the engine bay is cleaner, gonna use some gunk and clean it again... I sprayed some of the bodywork and it's a new colour lol, it's getting a respray though.. apart from that done bot all else

Wonder if it'll fit the standard manifold without fouling anything :wack: probably not... dunno whether to go top or bottom mount though

Id go top mount if you can mate,it just makes access to the turbo easier imo.Its coming along though:thumbs:

Didn't take many pics today...

But FINALLY took out the WMIC... yey!

I've taken out the washer bottle as I'm gonna relocate it to the rear of the car... the motors are fubar, so I'll have to see what I can do with them - ideas anyone? apart from buy a 2nd hand one

All the gearbox bolts are off (mental note, still need to drop the gearbox oil!), I just need some help with getting the bottom end out - I'm not gonna try and lift it myself, it'll just pop my back straight back out :wack: [hopefully done this week!]

I'm going to be moving the PAS resevior onto the cross member, but then again I might take the PAS system out... I won't be drifting it [will be decided and done this week]

I'm going to be relocating the fuse boxes, not too far away from their original position - just too tidy it up a little [will be done this week]

My lowering springs are faulty

Whats left of the engine bay
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e23/tonee4130/SX/Image007.jpg

Anyone know how to stop the lights popping up opposite to each other :wack: I'll be off to search after I've posted this, but it's quite annoying

I'm guessing I'll have to drain the diffs' oil so I can take the propshaft out?

Anth4130

I obliterated the sound deadening today and some other daft jobs... got dark before I realised so no pics... nowt exciting anyways really!

But... wtf is this!? Must be something to do with the OLD alarm in there?

AFAIK no one has made a flange for the z32 box - CA bottom end (there's KA and SR I know of) so I'm gonna have to get my thinking cap on... if not I'll have to just cut and shut the CA Gearbox flange onto the z32 clutch housing like what I was originally going to do

They dont look that far out looking at them, id be tempted to knock up a wooden mock up and have one made, or buy a slab of ally an make one my self. I recon a bit a billy would do it  then all you'd have to do sort out a hole for the starter

What a pain in the frigging arse that was to get out.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e23/tonee4130/SX/Image001-1.jpg

Time to get the soldering iron out because it's not going to be anywhere near the size it is - and the majority of it will be inside, connections that are needed outside will be extended out there

I've also marked up alot of things to angle grind out - tubbing the arches, removing rust etc

Looking good dude:thumbs: nice to see Ive been quoted in your sig:D the wiring looks a nightmare:eek: good luck with it fella:)

Anth4130
16-11-2008, 14:38
:P

Actually to be honest the wiring is pretty easy - doing 1 wire at a time minimizes potential errors and nightmares :)

Well the wiring has started, it may not look pretty 2 reasons... 1 Its not going to be pretty anyways, 2 it's not taped up (I'm gonna have to buy some shares into electrial tape :ninja eyes m: )

Main aim is to get the fuse boxes and all the wiring inside, shorten some wires and extend the wires out that need to be out (Brake fluid, indicators, lights, etc)

I'm 100% confident that nothing is going to go wrong basically because I'm cutting one wire at a time

Just a little crappy update

Found passenger seat belt!

PAS pipes in - need fluid and brackets for the pipes!

Give it a quick start up (<1 second as it's got a stage 3 chip and not alot of oil)...

Still need a turbo (at one of my dads mates garage, still unknown whether it's a t25/t28 MIGHT be a t28 as the manifold is SR shaped) so soon I can melt peoples faces and smash all their windows MAHAHHAHHAHGHASDGhOJSFXKJCBVKL IGHS :whip:

All wiriing sorted which results in;
Me playing with the pop ups for quite some time tongue.gif I was even playing with the windows
Tested the blowers and got a face full of cobwebs and shite
Fuel pump singing again
Some lights not working - front indicators and sidelights, passenger wing indicator
The rear lights weren't working at first... then I realised they weren't connected up :wack:
Couldn't play with the horn because I don't have the centre piece of my steering wheel :p

Once I've bracketed up the PAS pipes, I'll be putting in the radiator (then looking for some pipes for it)

Now just waiting for lots of places I've applied for TO GIVE ME A JOB :whip: :)
