Just bought myself a s14 diff and will be getting it welded up for the 11th of june ready for the pod.

The actuators buggered on the car which is why i have been getting boost round 5k and the avcr not being able to control the boost propley so will be changing that aswell.
why dont you just weld up the diff thats on it as the s14 should be lsd
spin king

Managed to fit passenger side driftworks bottom arms and tension rods along with my tein rod and rod ends bottom ball joing was a pain in the arse and well seezed so ended up taking the whole arms to kwick fit and having it heated and pressed out.

tub-Manifold and apex elbow are all together and water feed looped back into the block and no longer through the turbo so fingers crossed the car will run cooler at driftdays.

Cracked on changing the frontend and putting the boot on (still havnt glued the window in yet still need to pick the glue up. Panel gaps need sorting aswell but its comming together and should looks great.

Left ones no good and my mates asked for the drivers side mate sorry.
Cars getting there just wish i had more days off to finish it quicker as i am fed up of it not being on the road.
Hi Tony, My Silvia bumper came with the bumper bar so it was a bolt on job. Personally i think it's worth keeping, as it gives good support to the bumper. Pretty sure the Silvia bumper will fit over the S13 bar if you cut the stickyout end bits off. Looking good:thumbs:
shane
When you swapped over did you remove the big bar that was behind the front bumper (s13) and how did you suport the front ps/sil80 bumper??

Didnt know what pins to get for the bonnet but think i will get these
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sennatupac/LockBonnetpins.jpg
And finish off putting the frontend together.
Had some spare cash in the bank that i didnt think i had so bought the aftermarket elbow the right one this time so hoping this arrives before my days off so i can get the car running again so i can turn it round and take the rear subframe off ready for sandblasting and painting plus have the new solid bushes fitted.
Once all thats done i'll fit the hydro (with alittle help) rear skyline calipers and disks.

I've just commited to the carbon bonnet/boot groupy at srb. For popup front end so its a bit late for me to go sil80, unless i by a silvia and have a sil80 and onevia :)
Those aero catches should be more than man enough for the boonet and they lockable so know worries there.

Little update.
My disks are off being drilled for 4 stud ready for the skyline calipers to go on the rear so started mounting the hand brake.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sennatupac/santapod031.jpg
And got the lights sorted need bulbs for the sidlights which i'll pick up soon.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sennatupac/santapod032.jpg
Also sorted the driftworks bottom arms out and played about with lenghts and camber settings
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sennatupac/santapod033-1.jpg
Only problem i have is there is a leak from the manifold didnt see any cracks so think its my dodgy spanner work so will sort that out when i next get a day off which is about 12 days Away LOL.
thats looking really nice, should be a really nice one when done, top work!!!
I found getting rid of the standard bonnet catch (keep the support bar) and using the Flush Fit Bonnet Pins got the bonnet siting right. Also the standard bonnet rubbers adjustments help. Takes a while lining up the wings/doors/bonnet but there's normally enough movement.
Can't wait to see it:thumbs:

Frontbumpers only a temp job till the origin one i have is rebuilt :annoyed:
Well been having a acouple of running problems and with the fact just dont know enough about fixing oily bits on my car its starting to really piss me off.
My car was ment to be going to tweeks Monday so i could have the aligment done ready for the bdc licence day on the 24th but that been shelved as i cant find/fix the problem.
The cars killing plugs and there is alot of oil on them aswell. The cars starting to sound like a scooby with little to now power when trying to drive it.

I have cleaned the plugs up and its just done it stright away also. Will try again monday and change everything over airflow meter coilpacks and i have some denso plugs there only svk20rz8 will these be ok to use on the car its stage 2 ish.
Also took the manifold off again and fitted it better done think its leaking now (could this have fouled the plugs and caused my problem)

Its a easy conversion to do matey.
If i swap plugs would i be able to use the car???
As long as it lasts till the 24th of this month i dont care i'd swap to a sr20 if i need to.

im deffos tempted to do it :D !
you should be okay mate as long as its not using a major amount of oil, i still drift mine and its not popped yet, just keep an eye on your oil level
as I said on the S13 tech section, it seems like the rocker cover gaskets are no longer doing their job...
might be worth changing them, as if they are leaking like that the oil covers the plugs and then it won't "accept" power from the coils as they should, because it sort of insulate them if you know what I mean...
but hey, I might be wrong...

Well after changing the plugs twice two 10 different coil and a coil lead the problem came own to being a bad connection with the plug to injector number 4 big thanks to chris or helping me out with this had us stumped for a while (more me cos i am thick with engines)
Now the car runs great just need to put a new rocker cover gasket on just a pitty it wasnt before today as i missed out on going to demon tweeks but will be at Oulon on the 24th thankfook.
damn... well... glad you had it sorted ;)
anyway... theres too much oil coming out of the old gasket...

Thanks to my mate Chris for doing the tracking for me car steers much better not and dosnt lock when on full lock.
However i know i cant fix cars for shite or for that matter chgeck what i have done to see if its right.
I have had all the suspension off the car as you may well know and the only things i tightened up most of the bolts the coilovers-rear-subframe-all the adjust arms on the rear and on the front the driftworks bottom arms have a inch difference in lenght on them and were loose and the tension rod fell off when Chris jacked up the car no wounder it drove crap Oh and the brake lines are catching on the coilovers and need fixing into place LOL.
So lesson learnt today check double check and triple check my work its funny now but this could of been alot worse.

Spent most of the day doing this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sennatupac/santapod091-3.jpg
The drive home was interesting as the steering went to cock on the day and the tyres screamed all the way home managing to bald them they did have 5mm before the day
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sennatupac/santapod114-1.jpg
Also had a massive boost leak a misfire and snapping the handbrake bracket under the car (were it mounts to the body)
Had a day off work today so started sorting the problems out.
steering looked like this
Wheels pointing away from each other
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sennatupac/santapod115-1.jpg
right wheel

left wheel
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sennatupac/santapod118-1.jpg
everything under the car was tight cant figure out why the steering went to cock. I have taken the driftworks bottom arms off and will have the measured up propley and make sure this time they are done correctly.
so the cars back like this again which i am sick of
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sennatupac/santapod119-1.jpg
The cars off to my mates who should be able to work his magic and sort out my problems wont be able to make the next Licence day but will spend the rest of the year getting seatime and have another crack at getting my Licence when it starts again later on this year.
Car will be caged and up to spec then aswell.

I asked the lad who is spraying my car to see how bad the rust is and howmuch it would cost as i know the inner arches and a small hole behind the driver seat turns out its much much more
inner sills both sides the full lenght chassie rails and bits around the floor.
I have done 2245 miles since i bought the car in may and there is now way i bought this car with a legal mot which has pissed me right off.

Jobs are
turbo gaskets are blowing
no lamba sensor
boost leak but cant find it
boosting after 4.5k
car wont idle correctly
belts need replacing
avcr boosts to 0.84 on setting A+B even though b is set to 1bar
handbrakes crap
hydro needs hooking up
mot is up on the 26th
over fueling

Forgot how ****ing anoying people can be when it comes to trying to sell cars not only do they turn up late but they insult you with stupid offers 2.5k i know the markets not good at the min but its not that bad yet.
Think what i'll just do is leave the car off the road until i can afford to use it again insurance is due up in acouple of weeks so i'll just sorn it till aug/sept and just carry on with the hours i am putting in at work so i can clear my dept and get the car sorted so when it does come back on the road it will be running alot better.
Being skint and the car always breaking had just made me want to get rid but having a drive in it tonight has changed my mind.

Finished removing the sound deadening from the rear of the car and gave it a quick paint to try and tidy it up pain in the arse job to do suprised it was heavier than i thought it would be.
I did leave alittle on the front of the inner arch as it was sticky and couldnt be arsed chucking petrol on it to soak off.

Well yet again i am at the place were i am unsure what to do with the car.
After sorting out the sound deadening i came across more rust almost asmuch as the last lot i had which cost me £400 and that was discounted.
At the moment i am thinking of breaking it and saving but then i have that problem of me not being able to save so was thinking of selling but i wouldnt get anywere near what i could get breaking it plus its got parts on i want for the next which brings me to the next bit LOL (keep up)
SIL80 i have a mate who could import me a good spec car cheap would be pretty much rust free and have the sr20 motor in it and poss a 2way as these are 2 things i want for this ar but cost good money sr20 and bits 2k 2way diff around £400 second hand.
What to do

If I were you I would keep the car and get as much seat time as you can, cose you ain't gonna worry about pranging the shell.
Then save and build a tidy shell and swap everything over when the mot runs out.

That shell was knowhere near as bad as you make out, was alot better than alot of 13's out there and its not like you had to do the welding yourself now is it. It gets to the point where you have to make a decision though, alot are beyond repair now and its not like they are a mega valuable car that collectors are mad for. Its often easier to reshell and thats if you have the time and space. I'm happy to help whatever you decide tony. If you need to stick some bits in my garage then thats fine or if you want to strip it i'm building a rollover jig to do mine so that would make it easier to tackle the rust.

My 300zx disks have arrived once the braided lines come i'll convert the rear brakes and get the hydro on tried today to sort the standard handbrake and it still crap do the handbrake cable cross over before the get to the handbrake bracket????
I noticed that your antiroll bar link rods the washers are the other way up from mine. I fitted a whiteline bar to mine and the fitting instructions showed the washers the other way up so that is how I fitted them. It makes more sense to fit them the way you have them as the cup bit of the washer encloses the bush a bit. I wonder what difference it makes, if any?
Looks good though spinking, I feel for you about the rust, what a nightmare!!
spin king
12-06-2009, 22:42
Yeah i hate rust LOL
When i changed the drop links i just followed how they were when i took them off to be honest dunno if there right though made more sense having it cuped
swiftmini
13-06-2009, 08:08
Yeah the bushes should be cupped as it helps stop the bush splitting.
Iam glad you have seen the light (i don't mean through your bodywork) and decided to keep it. you would regret getting rid for sure
I wonder why whiteline show the cups the other way up then. I agree with you it would make more sense if they were the other way up. I shall keep an eye on mine to make sure that they don't split. I have an issue with my bar as it isn't really long enough in my opinion but have been assured that it is the right one and it is the same as other people's fitment.

Front cages to go with existing rears are £129. Thats a pair of front legs, top window bar and doors bars including all necessary mounting fixings.
Just need to get sombody to weld a cross section in the middle so i can use my carbon roof and compete.
BARGAIN
The full cages are full FIA EDC/BDC/Pro Drift/Time Attack spec made from cold drawn steel so will be able to use it next year if i get my license to do BDC.

The wife finaly didnt have any bloody plans for me today so got some work done on the car.
Big thanks to Dale (parkmonkey) and Oscar for there help with the hydro and fenders.
1st off was to sort the arches out this is the somthing i havnt done before so was alittle hit and miss so out with the grinder
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/donnatony/22072009177.jpg
found plenty of rust though which has now been cut out and the stuff i couldnt remove has been treated.
1st off cutting
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/donnatony/22072009176.jpg
Wasnt high enough so cut alittle higher once done cut slices in the metal and folded the inner arches out over the rear qtr
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/donnatony/22072009178.jpg
Then Oscar come round and Helped with the rest cheers kidda
Riveted them to the outer qtr and bonded and sealed so no water gets in its very messy but its somthing you wont be seeing unless i rip the fenders off (with my driving thats a good chance)
Then matched up the fenders and riveted them on
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/donnatony/22072009179.jpg
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/donnatony/22072009180.jpg

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/donnatony/22072009182.jpg
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/donnatony/22072009183.jpg
Transfors the look of the car i think its much wider and gives it a more agressive stance i think.
Next up paint and wheels that will fill the arches.
Once that was done lined up the front light as thats been on the piss since i put the front end on also fitted the rest of the cage down as i kept breaking drill bits so gave up but its sorted now lol.
Next Dale helped chuck the Driftworks Hydraulic Handbrake on i broke the standard s13 handbrake cable suport at Oulton park last year and after fixing it twice have ripped it out the floor again so the hydro was a must really.
1st off the T-Piece section at the rear
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/donnatony/22072009184.jpg
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/donnatony/22072009187.jpg
Fed the line through a hole i had just behind the drivers seat and to the hydro itself (havnt fastend the lines to the floor yet)
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/donnatony/22072009188.jpg
Dale had to make up a little section for me as i lost the unions for the front that came with the kit but need to get another one as the one that runs to the front is a different thread to the one he had made up once this is done the its just a case of bleeding the system then its mot time.

i've never seen a handbrake fitted on that plane before just wondering if it will bleed out properly!
i know i did try to fit one on the tunnel with the master cylinder fitted up-side down once, to hide the brake lines, but had to change it back around as we couldn't shift the air lock

I blead the system with Tony and I removed the hydro from its mount and then tried every position known to man to try and aid the bleeding prosesses with no joy.It was as if the hydro needed more fluid than the master cylinder could supply...even if you pumped the pedal several times to prime the hydro...

These are nice and hard aswell the others i had were far to soft.
AND YES I KNOW I NEED SPACERS OR BETTER WHEELS I AM SAVING FOR SOME NICE 10J rims at the moment.

I am matey i really really want to get it back on the road and keep it on i have only done 1200 miles in it and i bought it may 2008 spent most of its time in bits as my mechanical skillz are worse than stevie wounders lol.
Managed to get a brake fluid res cap as the pressure bleeded i got didnt have a cap big enough have modded it and sealed it up will check and see if it works once its dried.
Looking good, but that car is screaming to be painted in one colour and have some PIMP :cool:wheels put on it.... and then job done. Keep up the good work mate!

Cheers matey
it really needs painting but i want it mot'd 1st
As for rims i really want some nice deep ssr's but kust cant afford them so will be saving for some rota drift grids
I suppose just get some Grids with a nice offset and then just save up for some dishy SSR's!

I think you car deserves a set of nice wheels, you don't need to get rotas. Just keep looking until the right wheels turn up. Maybe look on the jap auctions to find some nice rims. My equips are probably worth 600-700 odd notes but I only payed 375 for them.

Well the handbrakes sorted now
It bleeds better when you put the calipers on the right way i had the bleed nipple at the bottom FAIL lol
Wheels are sorted too getting some rota grids 16x8 et 10s should have them soon these will do while i save for some posh rims.
Anybody know what size spacers i'll need to fill the rear 50mm wider fenders with these on???

Brake lines now fitted down and home made quick release fasteners for the front bumper looks shite but does the job so dont have to fight to fit zip ties there just need them in the midddle and sides this way i can release bits and let the bumper hang with the zip ties.
mot in the morning which i am not looking forward to lol
