Just seen this post on the RS BB, and was wondering what peoples preferences are here?
Personally I think the scene at the start of Bullit (Steve McQween) is really good, he did all his own driving and the set makes it all the better.
Other faves over there where Ronin, quality Audi A8, and Gone in 60 Seconds.

The Bullitt chase was always my favourite - I saw it in the flicks when I was maybe 12 AND HAD TO GO OUT TO BE SICK!!!!!! The thought of feeling ill then makes me feel slightly queezy when I see it on the telly now.
A close second (although it's a car chasing a train) has to be the The French Connection.
Oi Chimp.............just watch it. Presumably it's only because of the word "bananas" you semi-developed simian.

Yeahhhhhhhh...Vanishing Point. Great film. Car chase beginning to end ...and what an end. Was it a Dodge Challenger he was driving? Whatever happened to Barry Newman?
Fave chase has to be the Blues Bros, just to watch all those pigs crash!!
Fave car in a chase has to be the Shelby Mustang in Gone in 60 seconds - I want one!!!

Ronin for me too. Never saw a car flipping boot forwards at high speed downhill before...
Mind you, the chase in Mission Impossible II is excellent before the silly pirouetting starts. Is that effects or does the Porche really do a handbrake 360 around the TT?

gotta be ronin, some of the work in that is excellent, the fast and the furious had very good camerawork in the race scenes, really added to the excitement, shame the script wasn't up to much....

Bullit and Ronin, I got both films just for chases. Also another film I remember with Charlie Sheen and some other guy who steal old Porsche 911's ? ? anyone seen this film, there are quite a few good chases in it if I remember rightly.

The pugeot in Taxi (french film) being chased by 2 Mercs is excellent. The bike chase in Mission Impossible 2 is cool aswell. Gone in 60 seconds is quite good for chases aswell.

Dunno what the film was called.... only caught the back end of it on channel 4 one night.
An assasin in Australia nicks a genuine Ford Capri touring car with a 5 litre Weslake racing engine.
The noise alone made the film

Speaking of car chases....
Watch Terminator 2 again, when Arnie and the kid are on the 50cc trailie being chased by the T1000 in the black rig.
That little bike only ever changes up gears - me and my mates counted 176 of em!
Arnie again in Commando - steals that red sprite/midget/healey thing. That ends up revving to 12,500rpm and has some 300 forward gears.
What about the opening scene of The Cannonball Run?!
Not much of a chase, but who wouldnt like to drive up behing Mr Plod in a Lamborghini(or 200SX for that matter), honk your horn and then blast past him into the distance? http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

I once pulled up behind three cars on an A-road (some berk in a 2.0 Cavalier was glued to my rear bumper for the previous three miles through all the no-overtaking, bollard-laden twisty stuff) and nailed all three, boot to the floor, up a hill.
Problems was it was:
1) A 40 zone going into a 60 zone
2) I was pulling 110 when I pulled in
3) The middle car of the three was a fully marked-up Police Omega 2.5.....
W@NKER!
Let's just say I had to do some world-class explaining......

just like to wake up areally old thread.
the best car chase ever is in a 1970's cop film "blazing magnum"
set in san fransico, so lots of jumps, but they don't cut from the action. when a car crashes, they carry on the chase with the same car. total destruction. it's bwilliant.
go and get it on video.
just do it.
carp film, so fast foward to the chase.
you won't be sorry!
My favourite has got to be The Italian Job. :D
Ronin without doubt. The chase through Nice and then through the tunnels in Paris :thumbs:
Just bought it on DVD and can't stop playing those scenes over and over again.

yeah the original 'gone on 60 seconds' is awesome !! (the remake was very poor though)
but my favourite is definitely 'the Driver', i like the bit where he smashes every single side/panel of the car whilst driving around the multi-story car park :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs:

Taxi 2 was "amusing" to say the least. The first scene involves the taxi catching up and passing the works 306 rally car and the driver moaning about the slow-driving tourists....

The bit where he drives into the police station, pisses off a few police officers, drives out through the window is sooo funny.
So is the chase that follows, and the pileup of about 20 police cars :notworthy :notworthy :D

Ronin, Bullit, but as Paul said, every episode of the Dukes of Hazzard. (They're making a movie soon :notworthy )
Oh and the Chase with the crane in T3 was pretty good, as was the chase in Matrix 2
