Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends we're so glad you could attend, come inside come inside.

and here we find ourselves again at the start of yet another project thread i dont like typing much so this'll be mainly pictures and a few comments here and there so thanks for looking and let it begin :)

ive been started for about 3 weeks now and have stripped the sound deadening out the car, stripped the engine ready to lift, stripped the inner wings ready to re wrap and minimize the looms and relocate the fuse boxes, stripped the front end with the power braces and anti roll bar coming off so far to get painted.

I recieved my first boxes of goodies today from Apex Performance radiator and associated gubbins and a proper short shifter.

what stuff mate mines has came off pretty cleanly i just left it open to 'chill' overnight in scottish countryside then went at it first thing in the morning with a claw hammer and paint scraper (same method we used on a mates mini) gently tapping it to break its seal to the floor then if i couldnt get my finger under used the paint scraper to lift it no mess and easy to lift it all :)

did a bit more tonight finally stripped all of the loom wrapping on the passenger side. I've mainly done this because when my turbo gaskets blew it melted some of the wrap and insulation together and it made quite a mess. Being a spark i have access to all ways of keeping cables tidy so i have found some stuff i'm going to try to neaten the looms up with. Also have the gearbox, alternator, brake calipers, caliper carriers and starter motor all stripped off. And i have the lower part of the windscreen in bits to replace the linkages hopefully get some more pics up tomorrow.

might even get the engine out :)

well the engine is all ready to lift out but have had a rest this weekend due to mum needing some work done. Going to pick up my new clutch and flywheel and a new passenger wing today cheers roacher :) also got my new pistons from dunkz today so my spare engine will be getting stripped this week to go to the engine builders this weekend. Also going to start rubbing down the front crossmember and chassis legs as well and start hammeriting !

We always did that until we put my engine back in... put it all back in as one and it made it sooo much easier :nod:

But me and duncan can now get a CA18 out from the lifting of the bonnet to dropping it on the floor in just under 50 mins :)

Havent checked but i hope the pics of the big ends show just what shocking condition they were in i.e. non existant!!!

not to poop on your parade, the thread is great so far :thumbs: be careful using a jun flywheel with a paddle clutch - this is what ended up of mine..

that was about maybe 4k miles. no track work, mostly traffic so probably my own fault, just make sure you choose your clutch wisely :)

(though i believe there's other reports of similar happening with other cars, evos and the like)

More started to rebuild my interior just now as im still waiting on my bushes from Angelus and my suspension arms from the painters

Tried tidying up the engine bay with a bit of gloss black and tbh it looked crap so i went all out and matt blacked it much tidier but it will get a proper paint over winter

Then moving back inside there was a couple dangly wires behind the dash board so i followed them and identified one or two but there is still 3 or 4 unknowns

TBH as i know the car works i'll prob just tidy under the dash up and replace all the trim as i dont want to start hacking into the stupid old non factory fit alarm :(

ill help you remove the alarm when we do the brake pipes etc ill use me trusted cut the red ire it still runs woo hoo teqniche it worked well on my s13 untill i could not stop the hzard lights but judt had not found all the wires lol

its actually just about out min just run out of light, a couple of factory looking wires is all thats left but yeah you can give us a hand checking over and stuff if you want :)

I took out the air con matrix as well, its pretty easy to open up the plastic housing (couple of clips & screws), removed the matrix, sensors, wires, etc and traced them all back to the switches and seal up the holes!

I really should get round to posting a pic of the wiring I've removed so far! Its rediculous!

Stuff I removed completely:

ABS wires/ECU/Sensors
Cold Start
Air Con (inc matrix, sensors, etc)
Rear washer Pump
Headlight washer Pump
Washer Water Level
Boot Light
Rear Speaker Cables
Cig Lighter
Centre Console Lights
Glove Box Light and Switch

All in all about a black bin bags worth!!

Any other plans for the wiring in yours?

Well saturday Stuart (aka thehats13) came down and gave us a big hand along with Tweed (another mate) So now the welding is done brake pipes are done and ABS is fully removed.

Right not updated this in a while and dont really have much pics either but new changes since the last update

1. After finding 1 front strut leaking i bought tein coilovers and fitted them :)
2. Fitted all the rear subframe and arms again
3. Fitted all my brakes back on
4. tidyed my shed and took delivery of a new ride on lawnmower :)
5. Prepped my new engine ready to drop in :)

Will try and get somemore pics this week :)

a lot done now since the last update wiring loom sorted and plugged back in, gearbox all fitted back up properly engine plumbed in and secured and lots of little niggly bits all over the car.

just in from the car and thats the new FMIC hooked up cheers Dunc :thumbs: the exhaust fitted cheers Hat battery live run in and engine earthed oil pressure sensor hooked up and my gearstick fitted back in :)

Dunkz helped me for a couple hours one night to align the gearbox and drop the engine in
Stuart did my brake lines
Kamikaze (rory with the starlet) has been up helping me the last couple nights

other than that ive done it all myself and i have to say im quite proud of myself for it (apart from various bits of over the phone advice!)


But as my MOT loomed, 8 o'clock this morning, problems started to arise - last night the brakes wouldnt bleed eventually got it figured down to a fubared caliper

also noticed the front drivers ball joint was fubared one quick text to Dunkz and i had 2 new ones at my disposal. problem solved :) was it bollocks, fitted the caliper re-bled the brakes pedal seemed a little soft but not to bad , cool ......
moved onto the next jobs sorted them then thought yes ready took it for a drive and lo and behold no FCUKING BRAKES:annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

also still a big missfire at around 4k rpm:cry:

and a knocking noise coming from the back that i dont like anyone any ideas?? :cry:

so no MOT tomoro and no crail on sunday :cry:

Did you replace the plugs with the new ones? Sounds like ignition.
Get the timing checked.

The last night i was up, the exhaust was sitting really close to the subframe, could be the cause with the engine moving around.

Will sort the brakes asap, who helped you bleed them last night?

knocking people are reckoning could be just the noises coming through the car with the alloy bushes

it was Mr Honda broonie that helped bleed the brakes i was bleeding and he did pedal did get more air out but obviously wasnt enough :(

No haven't changed the plugs yet will do tomorrow

good work there mate, love the wellas too, did they come with the car cos we are having trouble trying to find some in sizes bigger than 13" for a mates r5 rally car.

just out of interest tho. are those ally wheel nuts, if so id get rid of them asap before they get rid of themselves.....with your wheel attached down the road. or break when your trying to change the wheel next time.

was at the car tonight so heres what i got to and where im going

the plan is still to compete in BDC '09
the car was all ready to go for its mot but i wasnt quite happy so it didnt make it (this was august)
so the car was pretty much finished bumpers back on number plates etc got it looking like this

Also i think im going to be getting a Nistune ECU and some large injectors;)
