So after building up parts for the last two years and not getting around to fitting them the time came to get my ass moving. I lost my job in february so decided i was bored at home so the car would get some tlc.....

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a394/slammedmind/DSCN0102.jpg

I started with the arches and the bottom of the car, decided to underseal them because i wasnt happy with the condition of the body

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a394/slammedmind/DSCN0017.jpg

So after building the head and attemting to turn it over by hand this happened...

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a394/slammedmind/DSCN0020.jpg

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a394/slammedmind/DSCN0019.jpg

yup thats a broken tomei exhaust cam, the timing was double checked before i turned it over by hand and the caps were tightened. It looks to be an imperfection in the casting (2 different colours on the aluminium) you can see the light/dark where its oxidised. Ive had to order a new cam last night and throw in the stock ex cam just to get the car up and running.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a394/slammedmind/DSCN0018.jpg

thats all for now..

25-06-2009, 23:02
Tomei cam snapped on yah, that's a pain in the arse, well you can guarantee that tomei don't ultrasound scan their gear before it leaves the factory... Not so good for performance parts. I'd be onto tomei going mad at them, you should be able to beat people all day long with that cam!!
Great progress though!

cheers lads, i emailed tomei about the cam and sent some detailed pictures so just gotta wait now. As for the car it should be up and running tomorrow ive gotta sort some new earthing points and just check over it then fire her up!

raytsang
26-06-2009, 06:13
Can't beleive tomei cams snapped like that, I would have second thoughs of using tomei now! You would have thought that all there stuff would have been quality checked before leave the factory. Or unless it was damage during transit. Will be interesting to see what tomei gotta say about it. Anyways super job on the build, can't wait see her up and running again.

Bet it feels good to have it up and running again. I was hoping to have mine finished for the 20th but doesn't look like i'll have parts in time :(

Where did you buy the r888's?

Trial_S15
30-06-2009, 11:24
You'll be needing more than R888's to keep 350+bhp and that 2-way in check :sxoc: Can't wait to see the car back on the road though
