Ok, so a history of the car up to the present state it is in now.
After seeing one of my mates buy and tune a lovely S14A i thought it might be time to get something a bit better than a 1.6 escort ! So after a few weeks scouring the internet i found this beauty
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/27012008026-Copy.jpg
It was up for £800 (engine was a 'bit' rattley) and completely standard.
After working a 12 hour night shift i got my bro to drive me all the way to london to pick it up to drive all the way back home intime to start another 12 hour night shift :annoyed:
Anyway stayed standard for i think 3 days, first ever mods were a HKS air power flow meter, walbro fuel pump and a HKS SSQV ( that didnt stay on for long )
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/24122006053.jpg
After 2 months i thought it was time to start doing something with it so....
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/19012007075.jpg
all of this turned up one day which made me happy. I had a deadline to fit it all because i had my car booked into norris designs for a new engine.
I had 1 week to fit it all and i had to work 10 hour shifts in between. I gotta say now thanks to my mate AdamB for the use of his garage, tools and more importantly him! None of this would be possible without him.
Stripped down the front end ready to fit the intercooler and stripped the old turbo out...

Some prep work for the intercooler pipes...
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/20012007091.jpg
This was quite worrying watching my mate go at my car with an angle grinder (And a big smile on his face)
After 1 day the intercooler was in...

Heres the old turbo and new one (TurboDynamics T25 hybrid)
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/21012007098.jpg
All in...
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/21012007106.jpg
The last 2 things to do before it was ready to go to Mr Norris was the Apexi AVCR and the exhaust...
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/24012007117.jpg
Pic of the AVCR in its place...
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/21042007003.jpg
With all these bits on, it was time to get the new engine. Heres a quick pic of there car park....:smitten:
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/02022007127-1.jpg
My car tucked away in the background!
Got her back after a week and was plesently surprised with the result, still had to run her in for a month but after that i had a Stage 2 chip fitted from H-Dev and got myself some handling goodies.
Apex performance coilovers 8/6.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/22032007150.jpg
Heres a pic of it with them fitted and my new Rota Torque 17x8's...
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/12052007028.jpg
At this point my girlfriend was starting to get a bit annoyed with all the money and time i was spending on her, so i went out and bought some defi gauges :D
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/23032007152.jpg
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/21042007004.jpg
And also got a set of whiteline antiroll bars and some nismo engine mounts and gearbox mounts.
Not much had been done for a while as i ended up buying another s13 with the idea of fitting a RB26DETT, but as i had already spent so much on this one i thought its best to finish this off before i start on another.
Coming into winter the lights were beginning too, well not light up
So decidede on a HID kit ftom H-DEV
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/14102007053.jpg
Not long after having the engine done the clutch died so i decide to fit a RPS Max street clutch with an uprated slave cylinder and clutch pivot point. Cooling was begining to be an issue during the summer so i had to buy a Koyo rad, have got electric fans but havent fitted them yet.
At this point she was running sweet so gave me time to save up for a bigger turbo and some suspension components. I ended up buying a GT2871R (0.64) this was in september and only last week i got round to fitting it, and thats only because my turbo gasket went (im very lazy).
Some pics of the new trubo...
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/10012008001-1.jpg
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/10012008004.jpg
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/10012008005.jpg
Heres the latest of pic of the engine bay...
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/19012008009.jpg
So over the next few weeks i have to fit...
Z32 AFM with Apexi air flow meter
Sard 700cc injectors
Apex Performance suspension components and bushes
and then get her to Jez for a custom map.
cool like the car . some well spent money
Cheers dude, its been an ongoing thing for about year now.
I forgot to add that I bought this car as a treat for my 20th birthday, my g/f found out that i was getting one so for my birthday she got me that sparco steering wheel, that was actually the first ever mod so i kinda blame her for getting me started :D

Nice mate! Looks like a very clean car! whats the rest of the body like? The coilovers made the biggest improvement on my old S13. Next i think you should go for brakes! (that was the 2nd best thing i did on mine)

The bodywork is really good that was one of the reasons that drew me too this car. Although i always hated the uk spec rear bumper so i ended up getting a 180sx bumper from alsjunkyard that has seen better days! The boot does have some rust on it but i will hopefully be getting another one very soon, i also have a set of 180sx sideskirts to fit and when my chargespeed front fenders turn up it is going to a bodyshop to be completely resprayed. Sticking with the red but might go for a more vibrant red, will also have the roof sprayed black.
Al
Getting a bit sidetracked at the moment, helping my dad with his new project http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=333661 :smitten:

Crap :wack:, to be honest.
Looks ok in that pic but its actually a lot darker and the paint is peeling of everywere!!! It was cheap so you cant really complain, Im having it resprayed at the end of February anyway!
If you contact them they can source one in better condition but for extra price.
Al

Cheers mate.
I live in Pencoed, but am in bridgend (cefn glas area) nearly everyday. What car do you drive?

They might do, got mine from apex performance. Its a GReddy one and goes from the bottom of the a-pillar to the roof so looks almost standard.

Needed to get the above fitted before I made my journey to H-Dev for a custom map along with a set of Sard 700cc injectors and Z32 AFM.
No pics of any of this but I gotta say that Jez' work is outstanding, he would not leave it be untill it was 100% perfect.
Was hoping to go on the rollers today aswell but didnt have the time :annoyed:
Next is the bodywork. Have booked my car into a local bodyshop on the 25th of this month, so long as my front fenders and side skirts turn up it will all go as planned. Just getting a full respray in red and haing the roof gloss black along with the a-pillars.
Im thinking of having the black stripe that goes around the car removed and having it sprayed gloss black instead.
Whats your opinions remove it all together or have it sprayed?
Ive always thought it looks a bit bare without it.

I am also in the process of rewiring the entire car...the beginning of the end???
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/28022008052.jpg
Hopefully I wont find any major problems, although I have come across some dodgy wiring!!! Previous owner must have had an immobiliser fitted and there are alot of bare cables behind the dash! As this is my daily driver im having to do a bit of the wiring at a time and then when ive got as far as i can i will take it off the road for a while and get everything else done.
Al
Kinda forgot about this
Been getting a bit fed up with it recently and have decided to focus on getting a house so not much done really.
Havent had any time/money to get round to fitting those wings and skirts yet. :(
New rear wheels turned up a while ago, just gota get the rubber to fit them and roll the rears. 17"x9":

http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/28032008070.jpg
All of this is because i have had dodgy lights for a while now so decided to trace everything to do with the lighting circuits and check and repair if neccessary. Found a few problems with split wires. Half way through doing the wiring my girlfriends father suddenly past away  and having no car to go and see her was very difficult. I needed to get my car back together as soon as possible so with help from ADAMB on here  we managed to get it "working". The dash and everything else is still out but atleast I can go and see my girlfriend.
Will hopefully finish it all on the weekend.
Another reason for all this work was that I wanted to integrate all the add-ons (Apexi AVCR, HKS TT, Defi's) into the loom so that it was all neet and tidy. Now it is done i am hapy with it and the lights finally work properly! :)
While the carpet was out I decided to dye it...
Old:
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/22032008064.jpg
This picture is after the second coating and is still wet so you cant really see the finish. Once it is dry and cleaned I will post a pic as the finish is excellent.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/22032008065.jpg
Also gona dye the door cards and glove box on the weekend.
Al
Coming along lovely mate. She is a minter
*Update*
Ok, so still havnt fitted any of those alignment arms yet due to the fact that somebody had knicked my rear subframe :annoyed::mad: Rhys_Sx has kindly offered me one in exchange for the one that is currently on my car so as soon as I go to pick that up it should just be a case of dropping it off at a powder coaters and fit the damn thing :whip:
Finally decided to get some better brakes, was hoping to go for a set of K-Sports but have spent the money else were so for now I got my hands on a set of S14a calipers and will get the 330mm kit from DBPower.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/03052008079.jpg
Got a rebuild kit with them and 8 new pistons. Just gona clean them up a bit and paint them black.

Will give them a good clean once fitted. Theres still sum polish left in the grooves.
Will hopefully have them fitted for the SXOC weekender :)
Alright mate, project is looking good, just wondering what you used to dye your carpets?
Also that header tank you've fitted. Is it open so it can vent to atmosphere and does the connection to the rad go to the bottom of the tank or does it just enter at the top and stop there?

I used this stuff (http://www.valeterspride.co.uk/black-carpet-dye-valeting-products-10-p.asp) for the carpets. Theres enough there to do a couple of carpets. Its good stuff too, sprayed my carpet outside on the floor and after a month or so it is still on the concrete and wont come off!!! Have tried loads of things.
As for the tank. Yep, it vents to atmosphere and the hose coming from the rad goes into the bottome of the new tank.
OK....so after a long time all of the above is still not fitted :annoyed: :whip:.
I am starting to get really annoyed with myself and just cant seem to find the motivation/money anymore. This isnt to say that this is the end, im just going to leave it alone for the next few weeks, build up some funds and continue from there.
Anyway, on a brighter note. My car passed its MOT today with NO minors  :D. To say im happy is an understatement!
Also, my loverly new Samco hoses turned up :D

A set of Samco hoses to replace the standard breather system and intake. The only problem is....I sorted out these hose' months ago, before I fitted the Z32 AFM so now I have to modify the intake hose to fit and these do not stretch! :annoyed:
Another load of parts to add to the pile.
So thats:
Samco breather pipes and intake
New shiney rocker covers and cam belt cover
330mm S14 front brake set-up
Chargespeed front wings
Side skirts
Apex rear camber, toe and traction arms
Powerflex rear subframe bushes
 I really need to sort this lot out. :whip:

Hey mate. You up for giving me a hand next weekend??? I can pop up during the week to pick up the subframe and get it built up ready for saturday/sunday. :)
Cheers,
Al
not a problem mate . Can saturday but time trialing on the sunday
Cool, cheers mate.
Time trialing? Where too?
down in llandow area . Good laugh . Round a load of cones . All 1st, 2nd and reverse stuff . s13 bit long for it but its good fun
Sounds like good fun. :)
Will give you a txt tomorrow to sort out the subframe.
OK mate . You got bushes yet for the frame
 Got a set of powerflex bushes. Been sitting here for about three months :D. Im a lazy git!
Is the subframe already painted? If not i will need to pop down halfrauds to pick something up.
No mate its just standard and a little rusty . Nothing a wire bush and some paint can fix
Cool. Will pick up some paint and a wire brush in the week.
Thanks to Rhys_sx and Woodys13 I now have a decent subframe to start with.
Got it back to mine and "tried" removing the old bushes :wack: EPIC FAIL!
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/16072008006.jpg
You can see the bottom left bush, melted and torn :D
Gave up after about an hour trying to get one bush out :annoyed:. So had a quick look on here and found this... http://www.sxoc.com/site/static/13subframe.php
Didnt really get this bit
Now comes the hard work. Put a hacksaw blade through the centre of the bush and cut through the side of the metal bush housing until you reach the subframe. Get a large chisel and hammer and from the top side of the subframe knock the edges of the housing in towards the centre. Eventually it will collapse upon itself and will be easy to remove. Sort of. This is hard work and time consuming.
All I did was get a hole saw just a bit smaller than the bush, cut through both sides. I then knocked the metal part of the bush out leaving a small amount of rubber around the outside. Hammered a screw driver down the side of this and leaverd up and hey presto out they came.
Took me just 5 minutes per bush .

Heres a pic of the two silicon filled bushes...
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/17072008009.jpg
The one on the right was one that I tried to remove with fire and a screwdriver, and popped, untill I found the right way of doing it.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/Als_S13/17072008010.jpg
Just gotta clean it up a bit, paint it, fit new powerflex bushes and start assembeling all the new arms.
Its getting there. :)
Nice one al .outer metal to come out and be all ready for the weekend at this rate
 Booked the day off work tomorrow to get it painted and built up.
Will start to get the subframe removed tomorrow aswell.
