hi all

im have started to carry out a mad project for my cousin.he bought a s13 of me a while back now.after about 4months he got the case and carried out all the welding that it needed.so the now the shell is now mint with no more holes!! lol

after some thinking of what mods should be done to the engine i said lets do a 2jz conversion.3litre twin turbo. he went mad but said ok lets do it!!

im gonna keep you all updated with the progress.

This sounds great.

After owning an S14 and two Supra twin turbos, I've often dreamed about putting a 2JZGTE into another car. Usually of the old skool ford variety, but an S13 swap sounds great!!

Very interested to see this develop! Great conversion, should be awesome when it's finished.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there are any clearance issues between the manifold/downpipes and steering column when doing this swap? Also, do the fuel lines need to be re-routed down the other side of the car so they're not right next to the hot exhaust, or does this not really matter?

Also what Diff will you be using Leo? S13, supra (does that even fit?) or something else entirely?

leosr
06-11-2007, 16:30
the way the cross member is designed there is enough clearance for the steering colum.with the fuel pipes we are heat wraping them and the downpipe.as for the fuel pipes all we have to do is just re route in the engine bay.the diff we will be useing the standard casing but just modified internals as we have a custom prop on its way.

should work !! he says lol

With a 2 JZ I would seriously consider looking at AEM. A lot of people have had it work very well for them on many cars (including our supra)

If anyone else is looking at a big single for a 2jz then check out this link (http://www.powerhouseracing.com/Templates/frmtemplateM7.asp?SubFolderID=25&SearchYN=N) We went with a stage 4 kit then had the tubro worked on for quicker spool. Its a work of art......

Good luck with your build.

Seriously look at AEM:thumbs:

Just finishing off another project you boyz will see floating around North London, come for a ride if you want as it will give you a taster as to how it will feel once ive tuned it.

hi all

happy new year.as you all know my cousin bought another shell so at the moment we sorting out the engine bay to get it ready for the 2jz to be fitted.we are hoping to get the car done by march this year.

ive still got take the engine out of the other s13 also.the worst thing is we are doing the conversion in his garden on the grass.so its cold and muddy.but we will get there.

the only thing that is on the list is a power fc or a aem.

gander
02-01-2009, 22:42

What makes you say that mate

Just a few things like:- I

spent alot of money on my rb bits and i'm having problems and i could have got the jz lump for 450 less.

I wouldn't have had to buy the greedy style intake to make it fit proper.

The ruckus mounts were same price for both conversions.

Also every man and his dog has an rb these days.

I guess i'm just sour because once again its all in pieces and i'm still yet to drive it. :(

hi all

sorry its been a while with no updates.as you all know my cousin bought another s13 shell.so we spent alot time trying to get all mint.and not only that we are not in the garden anymore.we have bought the car to my house in my garage.

one of the 1st things we done to the new car was cut the panel off!! this was just so we can fit and remove the engine without damaging anything.my uncle works wonders with metal.so the now front panel is 100% removeable..

leosr
11-05-2009, 13:31
Thanks for comments people.whenever I do any work on a car I'm so fussy with how things fit and look.we have spent a lot of time on making thing look factory.maybe a busness venture for me maybe.lol
As for japfest the car will not be ready.still trying to get date for the downpipe to be made.and still need to map and fit and paint a bootlid.

Another thing which people don't think about much when doing a conversion that is throttle cable.just had one made today and fits really well.thanks to rcs cables.

gander
11-05-2009, 13:36
had a look under the spoiler on the boot its all good.

Just read through all of this and all i can say is AMAZING! :notworthy

The work that has gone in wether it was easy or not has been done very well and like someone else said it just looks like it should of been from the factory!
Sounds awesome as well.

Hopes it goes as well as it looks

hi nice build! only comment is.
1.i would have moved the fuel pipes to the correct side of the car rather than runnin them across the bay..
2. the turbo inlet pipework really needs to be 4" cos youll choke the turbo.
3. i would try to straighten out the very tight 90 before the throttle body.. i know there isnt much room. perhaps rework the body itself to give you room to straighten it out.

other than that... TOP JOB!

Looks great, but along with Martin's comments on the previous page, I'd look into a more permanent heat shield for the brake fluid reservoir in addition to the turbine blanket and downpipe wrap.

Hi all

Yeah piers got it running but it was late and the too loud on idle so cut it short.

Just a update! Steve from fctuning was round my cousins today sorting out the finishing touches on haltech pro 2000. cold start is always a issue for tuned cars and a thing that owners and tuners tend to ignore! So up bright and early 11am lol pluged in the ecu and the laptop and the car started on the button from cold.so fine tuning was done on each 10c the car warmed up.so after about 2 hours on the drive steve packed his things away and said see you next week at hayes engineering for dyno time.lol

A big thanks to steve sadler @ fctuning for sourcing the ecu and making all are hard work worth while.

I will update soon people with dyno video
