After Kiruji's little incident on the way home from JAE (details in this thread) (http://sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=302240) a few of us welshies got thinking if there was anything we could do to help. Richy200 had recently broken his car and the shell was outside Buffy's unit up in Blackwood. After a late night conversation between myself and buffy we kinda decided that we would offer to reshell Kiruji's car for him. Then followed a conversation between myself and Kiruji where, tbh, i dont really think he understood a word of what i said but he agreed anyway ;) So begins project sheepuu ;)

So today I borrowed a van from work (Have to say a huge thankyou to my boss for this) and rented a spanky tiltbed trailer and set off from Swansea with Jow for company for the trip. 3.5 hours later we arrived at Doz's farm and found a rather broken 13 sitting on the grass. Kiruji was nowhere to be seen, he was MIA with Playworker.......draw your own conclusions ;) Anyway, when they finally did turn up the dipshit had only forgotten his keys so we were moving a car with a steering lock.. great start ;) We tried towing the car round a bit with Kiruji's 306 but the french pos just insisted on doing ghey scrabble wagon burnouts.... Worrying thing is that he seemed to be enjoying ;) this was followed by doz doing some interesting burnouts in his teeny toyota :D

Anyway... after much feking around we got the thing on the trailer and set off for Blackwood and Buffy's unit ;)

The plan is to rehell the car and have him driving home in it sunday night :)

The usual suspects this weekend are :-

Buffy, Madda, Bulk, Chris, BigTone, Spesh, Jow, Kiruji and Playworker. Dave200 was supposed to be helping but he's in mexico at some mardigras with tassles on his nipples :wack:

Gonna try update this thread throughout the weekend, fingers crossed its all gonna come off :D w00t!

Doz has this very strange way of, somehow, always making himself look quite gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that, of course ;)

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f163/speshman/DSC00275.jpg

Kiruji just saying thankyou like the nice english lad that he is (and yes, there will be lots of english bashing in this thread, and in the unit this weekend)

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f163/speshman/DSC00282.jpg

Aye but assuming someone from, ahem, far afield, delivers some wings, I doubt they would be best pleased to see a set in the corner of the workshop ;)

Nah, not the unit, Mike's actual garage up by his house where his fabled S13 of old resides under a big pile of cr@p :smash:

Hi Jow/Spesh,

Many thanks to you and Spesh for managing to fit the tow into your long and busy day. Should get her back on the road tomorrow, got a spare alternator ready to fit.

lol - knowing Mike he's probably already given them to someone else :)

And stupid question, does anyone have the number plates or even know what the registration is for that shell? :wack:

Yup :) Log book and MOT (9months) was posted to Kiruji a good while back ;) Its richy200's old shell and has not been stripped that long ago, few little niggles as the shell was originally stripped to be scrapped so some pipes were cut rather than undone etc, but nothing that superbuff cant sort :D

Just putting the fuel lines on now with a bit of jiggery pokery (the shell was going for scrap so they were cut on the floorpan) and we're gonna try starting it. If its fine that leaves us to bolt a seat in, bolt the passenger wing on as the ramp foots currently in the way, bleed the brakes through and bolt the wheels on, wire in the leccy fan and sort the front bumper out (its going to be white, we failed on making the car one colour :p)

well the time has come where both myself and spesh have to leave, so it will be up to the others to update and take pictures now, but first I have to share the others I have taken.

spesh note - We think we've found the starting issue.... Chris 'merfered' the fuel pipes on the wrong way round and we also had no spark. Found a dodgy relay (we're blaming doz as he's not here) so we've bypassed it for now and we have a spark :) Fingers crossed its gonna burp into life :D

We've just found the steering column which was MIA for a while... Unfortunately we've also found a weepy fuel line...

Just putting the wheels back on and we've realised that on the back wheel that hadn't burst there's a shitload of rocks stuck between the rim and the bead. So we're deflating that to get them out. Then we need to switch tailgate, cable tie the front bumper on, put the column back on and... I think that's it :D

Still working on it... Hasn't moved under it's own power yet, we've just been trying to improve a slightly dodgy idle -it's possible there's a hole in the intercooler giving a slight boost leak. It'll be fine for the drive home though.

All lights now work, steering wheel's on, bootlid's swapped, all fluids checked and topped off. Just running a tap down the threads for the seat and harness bolts because they're a little bit fooked.

I'll have to type a list of thanks in the morning, cos I'll forget someone now and I don't want to do that... BIG :notworthy to everyone involved at the moment though...

Just taken it for a quick spin and it's back on the ramps to try and improve the alignment a bit and to bleed the brakes properly :D

The end is in sight! And so is the 3 hour drive home :wack:

It wasn't the wheel bearing that caused/played a part in the accident was it?

First of all, the good news - we got home safely :D

Now the bad news - the S13 didn't :wack:

The top rad hose popped on the M50 and I had to get it recovered 3 miles to the next services where it still is. Got a trailer sorted, just need to sort a towing vehicle and we'll go get it tonight.

Got back to mine at half 7 this morning and was in work for 9

I'm falling asleep at my desk :wack:

MASSIVE thanks to everyone that's been involved in this - I will make a proper list and also upload the photos I have on my phone at some point, but right now I really want to get some work done and get home early so I can grab a couple of hours kip before we go and rescue the S13. :)

I know it was a amazing effort, but after all of the work being put into it and seeing it, its kinda gutting that it didnt make it all of the way for something so silly

Top effort and shame about the rad hose popping, bust that's chips compared to the effort you all put in over the weekend.

Greg, if you need some five stud front wheel bearings, I have some decent (100k'ish) five stud fronts off my S14 you can have for nowt. I'm in Ledbury, just off J3 (I think) of the M50 and if that's anywhere near where you had to leave the car (though I'm guessing you had it left at Strensham?), you're welcome to collect any time tonight.

PM me if you need them.

Greg, how are you for interior trim?

kiruji
20-08-2007, 12:45
Tom, thanks :notworthy

The car is at Strensham, but I'll have to go to the M50 junction to turn around anyway, so if you could PM me your address I'll have a look and see how far you are from there - if it's only a few miles, it'll be well worth me popping along ;)

Stu, I don't have a problem with it - we ripped it all out on Saturday ;)

Gregg, I said in the PM I'm 5 mins away from the M50, but that's from my junction. :wack:

I'm probably a good 20 minutes away from Strensham end.

Fairplay to anyone who got involved :notworthy Shame it didnt get all the way home but, 2 days

At the moment, I'm stuck because my brother's being an arse :indiff:

If you can get something meaty enough to tow it dude, that'd be ace - it's a fair trek though, ~65 each way?
