Well, thought it was time to start keeping a thread about the work I am doing on my car as time goes on.

I bought her mid-June from Ferretca18 on the board who is a top lad and maintained the car to a very high standard. I assured him I would continue modding it in the same vein and not ruin his pride and joy. Therefore, this thread is as much for him to know she is taking shape nicely as much as anything else.

I have recently been on hols and during this time, Buffy fitted quite a few bits :D as follows:

Koyo Radiator as I like to give it a caining, it needs to stay cool

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v503/buaan/Joes%20Burgundy%20s13/DSC00015.jpg

Z32 rear brakes as I have always believed its best to improve your stopping power before you soop you’re your go

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v503/buaan/Joes%20Burgundy%20s13/DSC00017.jpg

Whiteline anti roll bars….along with POWERFLEX bushes to replace every standard one underneath and hell what a difference!!!! :sxoc:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v503/buaan/Joes%20Burgundy%20s13/DSC00022.jpg

Rear camber arms for tyre saving and handling reasons

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v503/buaan/Joes%20Burgundy%20s13/DSC00018.jpg

It was way to loud for me so had to swap the apex exhaust (which is for sale) for my old HKS one which sounds awesome yet oh so quiet :D

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v503/buaan/Joes%20Burgundy%20s13/DSC00016.jpg

Cant really get a good pic but the best mod ever, my HID’s are in, and they absolutely rock!!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v503/buaan/Joes%20Burgundy%20s13/DSC00023.jpg

Installed my RSM and G-sensor I had lying around for about 18months….Its accuracy is surprisingly good once setup to the wheels etc using a GPS sensor

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v503/buaan/Joes%20Burgundy%20s13/DSC00020.jpg

Turbo timer…again because it might as well be used :D

Madda

The fan is a Apex item that was bought with the KenLoe controller. Im not sure otherwise and cant find anymore detail on the receipt mate.

Update! Engine swap for its much bigger brother might be happening over the next few weeks :D

I wouldn't run a blueprint timing belt, personally; get a proper one.

Now for the questions... :D
Where did you get the clutch plates from?
I've got an OSG triple plate but the plates will need replacing sometime, did you buy sprung ones, and did you just get the fritcion plates or the metal seperator plates too?

Your advice on the timing belt is duly noted and I will be getting another. :whip:

Do you think the Greddy or Trust ones available from the US are better than a Nissan OEM one. I believe even the most expensive Greddy one is cheaper than buying one form Nissan in the UK! Any advice appreciated!!

The clutch plates were from RHD (link to item (https://www.rhdjapan.com/home/products/product_detail.php?int_product_id=2776)) and about 30% cheaper than what I got quoted by RB Motorsport even if I get stung for import duty when they arrive. As you can see I got the dampened plates only. They do sell a full kit but Mike said it wasn’t needed.

No their not, I hated them haha. Got them on the car when I bought it, but now belong to some guy in London :p

LOL, that might be the case, but initially I wont be running more than 350bhp. This will hopefully be pushed to 650+ when I can afford turbos and mapping, but that’s gonna be a while. So, I’m thinking at the moment I should be ok with a Trust one

Blueprint are the same spec as the origional Nissan belts so why not use one? It's about £100 cheaper than a Nissan one to! I had a Group "A" ford motorsport kevlar belt fail on my old Cossie so whats the point of spending so much money, just keep it changed regularly.
Car looks aweson too Buddy will be cool to see it in the flesh/ Metal.

Are they, how do you know?

Blueprint brake pads certainly aren't, and the after market water pump I had was crap.
On a 2k engine it's not worth running cheap bits.
At least get a Nissan or a Gates one.

what turbo's you going to be running

Madda
26-08-2007, 09:13
For the moment, money troubles mean we will only be running the standard turbos, so for now, pretty limited on power.

It wont be long until we fit some special ones, but I hope to have it on the road for 6months to let my bank account recover before I spend any other 'real' money on it.

The car hasn’t been cleaned for a month now, which is killing me more than I thought it would, I hate seeing her dirty! :p

Not sure what time that will be seems he updated the engine was in the car at 3 this morning

In theory it is gonna make it handle better (by what i can find using google) as the engine will sit lower therefore lowering the centre of gravity and improving road holding :)

hands down to you mike some top stuff would love to see how you've made the brackets :)

madda

my piston made a break for the open air and punched a hole in the side off the block, the crank had work done on it and new bearings installed, think big end went possibly due to me not torquing the cap's up right or possibly due to a dodgy regrind by the engine shop i used, after 500ish miles no4 b/e is shot but no5 has absolutely no wear at all so who knows :( , possibly going to stick a CA back in for a year or so then do the conversion once I've saved up again

That is gutting mate, and makes me worry about mine. "Go for a 26 as its the best designed engine ever etc". Just hope it rings true for me and she runs like a gem.

Mike did all the build so there wont be anything wrong with the way its put together, and the crank didnt need a grind as it was mint. Mikes engine shop just gave it a sweet polish. :D

Well I have put an engine in a car that it was never designed to take, so I know how to do it, but people rarely go into how they successfully align the engine in the bay. This is about methodology in abstract terms, people have different ways so thought it would be interesting.

04-10-2007, 17:29

Not to much left to do now :D

Jobs that have been identified which are left include (I say include as I’m sure there are lots more!):

Swap the diff for a 1.5way one I have (from a skyline GTST)
Cut and shut a decat pipe to connect the exhaust (which is mighty close anyway which was a nice surprise)
Fit GTR BMC and reroute brake pipes as ABS has been removed
Invent some room for the air filters :wack:
Paint rocker covers
Wire up speedo (Mike is still toying with options on this one)
Connect up Vac pipes
Route GTR accelerator cable
Fit prop once it comes back from the machiners
Fit Defi gauges and control box
Squeeze speed sensor into Gearbox
Space down ARB so it clears the engine sump
Fit alternator and belts
Reroute powering steering pipework
Make up some intercooler pipework, so it runs prior to a trip to ProSpeed for some nice shiny ones
Fit kouki lights
Install flocked dash

It seems like its almost done, then when you actually put a list together you realise there’s plenty left to do!

Through all this project I need to point out I am a complete monkey with a spanner, and ALL the work is down to Mikes (aka Buffy – Stealth Performance) knowledge, patience and skill. Its gonna be an amazing car, and he deserves full credit for this impressive project

Sadly mate, still a few bits left to do, the car is driving, and I have driven it but its not all together 100% yet.

List of outstandings is getting smaller by the day, so here is what has been done since the last list:

rerouted lots of wiring to behind the dash as it was out
boost pipe jubilees
gearbox oil
gearstick DONE (Custom job made by Mike, super short and sweet )
reverse light wires
alternator
pas pump
pas bottle
decat pipe
dash wiring (GTR tacho, GTST speedo in s13 surround)
Rad
oil pressure switch
servo vac pipe
paint and refit timing belt cover
adjust clutch peddle height
refit heater stuff
refit bonnet
change rear wheels
Sort the brake lines
Fit GTR BMC
Old lights removed and koukis rewired
fit GTR accelerator cable
Removed dash and centre console

Left to do includes:

fit Defi gauges
fit rear lights
find source of slight miss-fire :smash:
wire in RSM
put on PAS belt
fit flocked dash and centre console
put seats back in
refit stereo

Possibly this will be done today/tonight, but it does depend on the masters diary ;)

Would have been 600bhp on those, best result for my finances was me losing them though! :smash:

Still got a few things to do, but not many...

Move a vac pipe to cure infinite boost :wack:
Change fan controller
Fit centre console (woody !!)
Sort out that annoying noisey belt
Vibration to find and cure (might be wheel balancing)
Cover 500 miles to run the engine in

Besides that she runs like a gem...I drove her about 10miles and the torque is immense..and thats only putting the loud pedal a quarter down! .

I also followed her about 20miles and no smoke at all. So sexy from behind...like the mrs :p Gonna be so happy with her very soon :)

Next round of mods are planned for early next year. I already have:

Version Select Kit VII
New sills (current ones arent that bad, just want the car mint :))
Vented 20mm wider front Chargespeed fenders
and on the look out for an UNVENTED carbon bonnet

Gonna stay standard colour, but still not sure if I will bother fitting the kit seems the sleeper appeal is becoming more and more cool the higher the engine spec becomes

I might even put it down to a poll, like I did with my wheel colour and I will go with the decision on the kit too :p

Are you having powder coating done etc?
As i only need two lips sanded and polished and then a further lip given a tidy up polish. I have already got the centers and inners powdercoated/sprayed ready to be laced up.
I would begrudge paying £135 for what would pobably take 30mins on a bench polisher.
If thats the going rate i will carry on by hand and have then done for christmas (2008:wack:).

When we changed the oil, we fitted a sandwich plate and some additions to the Defi Link stuff...

I have nothing but good things to say about the Concept-X other than i haven't worked out how to use all it functions yet! I shot a little video on my phone of it in action:

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/WNyXrPAUxqc&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/WNyXrPAUxqc&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

I am liking where we have put it, but I'm not sure if it will be its permanent home. The display is super clear and all the readouts, warnings and recordings you can keep are pretty cool.

There is a lot less glare on it than these pics suggest but you get the idea, excuse the rain on the lens.

Would you leave it here or put in on the dash? I dont want to ruin my flockedness :wack:

mate im loving it, the wheels look ace too.

i would personally get the top of the dash cut out, make a little pocket for it so it sits flush with the dash,

i would like something like this myself one day

I’d leave it on the column, don’t ruin the flocked dash its not worth it incase you want to move/change it in future...

Fitted to the columns it's in the normal position so you can just read the revs/speed through the HUD instead of looking at the standard dials which don't read correctly anyway :thumbs:

theyre awesome arent they, i love mine :smitten:

it looks good there but why not get a spare column cover and try mould it into it to hide it? im sure quail has a photo of what i mean!
