dude you have a pm, the idear with buying the mounts is they move the engine back about an inch and down about an inch clearing the trans tunnel and giveing a much more natral weight balance to the car.

I suspect the engine mounts you mention mean that you don't have any issues with the RB plenum touching the bonnet and you don't have to change the front subframe either.
When I did my swap I changed the subframe for the skyline one and the plenum for a Greddy front facing type. The engine sat in there very neatly without fouling the bulk head or anything, the plenum made it easy to fit an FMIC too. The only little problem was that the gear lever needed modding as it touched the centre consul mainly in 1st and 3rd. So perhaps you engine mounts will alleviate this too.

I reckon the S13 was made for RB power it's just awesome :D

Good look

You guys might find these useful

http://www.greenline.jp/

http://www.greenline.jp/catalogue/bccatpartlist.php?make=Nissan&carcode=R33B&intake=FI&category=engine

Surge tank (plenum) from greenline makes the swap a whole lot easier and you wouldn't beleive the space you get in the engine bay till you see it.

this was the only major rust on the car, so it figured would be silly not to fix it.
going to attempt to fit this lot tommrow hopefully :wack:
the engine mounts weigh a ton, so i'd assume they are going to pretty solid :)

a word of warning to anyone who thinks its easy to fit a engine with a 120 quid engine krane, ITS a **** to say the least. :annoyed: :wack:
takeing them out is fine. hehehe mckinney specfi that you must put the engine and gearbox in as one, but I dont know how I'm going to do this, so i'm going to have to do it separately, does anyone know if its possible to connect the gearbox with the engine in ?

its getting to the bolts to the gearbox which is the hard bit, they will be basically touching the bulkhead with it moved back like that,

also mate, where is the gearstick going to sit with the engine moved???

You put the engine and box on a small trolley, or a crawling board that garages have on little castors to slide under vehicles. Lift the car up and slide the engine and box underneath and lower the car on to the engine and box. You will find it a lot easier and it should eliminate the chance of you dropping the engine on yourself if you use a cheap crane :wack:
Obviously if you haven't dropped your front cross member you will have to do this.
I did mine using the RB cross memeber so the engine and box where already mounted on it, the whole lot slid under really easily and by using a couple of jacks it was all bolted up in about an hour from starting the job.

MD I would think the gear stick will be sat on the garage floor at this stage of proceedings, or safe in a bax of bits somewhere.

I've just spoke to buffy and for anyone who mite need to know, it is possible to put the gearbox in afterwards if you make a good enough job of bashing the gearbox tunnel at the start. I've looked into mounting it from underneath and at the moment its a last resort, I've only got one jack and one engine crane :(. Aparently the gearbox sits perfectly in place like the old one did, with no alignment issues, mainly because of the new engine mounts. On a normal conversion I'm told the gear stick sits a little to far forward and can sometime foul the dash.

Hi i spoke to buffy and he told me the same so while im prepin the engine ive knocked the tunnel up and out so i can mount the box after :D

One warning - GReddy and the like inlet manifolds will not fit on a RHD car unless you want to get into moving the clutch master cylinder . . .

cheers for that, was going to be my next purchase :wack: .
managed to get the engine on one of the mounts, the other ones being a bit stubborn, been at it all day, so I decided to take it up tommrow.

I have to say its a VERY tight fit with these mounts the engines almost touching the bulkhead, and it looks like theres almost enough room for the fan.

To caled - what are mounts and shaft from?

http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com/products

The engines not meeting the mounts :(, I've been trying for 3 days now, so I'm prob going to book it in to garage, its a really tight fit with these mounts, theres no room for messing around with a crane or anything, looking at it, i'd say it really needs to be put in from the bottom with a ramp, theres two much shit in the way otherwise. On the drivers side theres the brake servo thing and on the passenger side theres a silly bracket that comes off the downpipe which wount clear the abs bracket. Even with it off, i'm haveing trouble with the otherside, it only seems to want to go into one mount.

It may be it's the mounts causing your problems. Have you got them on the correct side?
I did mine with the skyline cross member and mounts and had no problems. The Greddy plenum went on a peice of piss too. No problems with touching the tran tunnel either but yes I did have to mod the gearstick.

Maybe problem is caused by RHD car itself? McKinney is from US or Canada (right?), where they have LHD cars. So I'm interested if situation in LHD car is different.

how much did all the stuff from mkinny cost you delivered??

I bought the stage 1 RB25 kit which consists of prop, gearbox and engine mounts, and a down pipe, the total to mckinney was $1365 inc shiping, customs wanted £150, so it worked out about £800 in total, a bit much really, but I knew the mounts where well overpriced in the first place, they where the first company to sell such a kit and they have a lifetime guarantee, there main market is professional motorsports so I guess its to be expected.

The car went off today hopefully get it back tommrow with everything fitted, just have to plug in the wireing and sort the out pipes. The problem I've had is to be honnest my own stupid fault, the instructions clearly state dont tighten the mounts to much to the cross member to allow some play, anyway I got my self into a silly situation with a garage door, and a engine crane and my front bumer :wack: theres really no room in my garage , I had the engine in the bay, but the mounts where just screwed in to tightly, and with all the work it took to get to where I was, I really did'nt fancy doing it again. All I can say is if your gonna use these mounts follow the instructions .

As i understood if I'm going for these mounts I don't need Skylines crossmember. These mounts should fit with S13 (or S14 - mentioned when buying them) crossmember. Right?

What just the shipping quote was?

caled
07-06-2007, 10:38
I think it was about 250 dollers or there abouts, you dont need the r33 crossmember, dont need to make any gearbox brackets, and neither do you need the prop, if your going for a one peice unit that is. My local garage looks to be moveing a bit slowly, cars there waiting but they saying monday :(

everythings in :) , its just a matter of sorting out the exhaust now, I'll put some pics up tommrow, the lowest thing to the ground on my car is now the sump :(, thats the only downside I can see to putting the engine this low. speedbumbs are just going to be a no no.

I tought i'd add this in for anyone whos going to possibly be purchaseing this kit the prop shaft on uk cars has ABS at the DIFF end, hense you need to tell them so they can make it shorter, when I placed my order they did'nt ask me. It was only after speaking to someone on here that I realised. They did'nt charge any extra for shorting it, and it fits a treat, you just need to let them know.
