Recommendation Please!

hi there
i have just purchased myself a s13 and wondering what oil you would recommend for it.
i have read the manual but would prefer a specialist/owners advise.
i got recommended by a local garage 5w-30 but didnt think that was right?
Are there any you can recommend at all and a filter as i got both but now dont trust they have given me a decent filter either
If so have you got a price and availability

Sorry by the way
standard apart from exhaust and air intake
lookin to do a few mods in future but nothin over 220bhp for a gd year or so
done 105000 miles but not sure about re-build etc
