So there's no replacement for displacement. Fair enough But why not add forced induction too:nod:
Just about to start helping this project get off the gound... Should be fun!

S14 + 1UZ FE

In other words, take the light V8 out of a Lexus LS400 and delicately thump it into an S14
:smash:

Details to follow

Cheers Dan:thumbs:
Right, Project: Oni Kudaki or demon crusher is something that I have been thinking about since last August when I bought a Lexus LS400 for my daily driver and started looking in to what could be done with them and i was quite surprised to find a forum full of people who mod these engines and the figures they were making, for example 518rwhp from a stock engine turbo`d with 17psi of boost and carefull tuning:eek: so I started thinking about maybe putting a turbo on the Lexus, the natural progression of my thoughts led me to think that would be a silly idea as it`s an auto barge and the engine would be better placed somewhere else and manual.......
Now where could i put the engine?? in the S14 that has spent the last 3 years in my garage doing nothing that`s where!!
So far I have my S14 and a spare LS400 (thanks to Moby Dick:thumbs: )
This weekend as long as the weather stays good the S14 will make it`s way out in to daylight again for me to strip it down ready for the conversion to start.

Ps see my thread in the for sale section;)

I started moving everything around today so I could start work on the cars and took a few pics, first time in daylight for quite a while the tax ran out 09 03!!That`s when I took it off the road.
It`s a bit dusty and some mice had decided to make a nest in the boot, they must have sneaked in through the hole where I had removed one of the rear lights!!
DanS14 and Cloudy popped round this afternoon to see how things were going and I had just unbolted the exhaust on the Lexus just after the cats, man it`s an awsome sound:eek: Cloudy took some video of the lexus running and also the S14 so I can take the engine out and still be able to show anyone who wants to buy it how nice it runs hopefully that will get put up later.

will you have to fabricate custom engine mounts to mount it, or will it be easier to try and mount it using the existing mounts and what transmission will you be using?
will be keeping an eye on this, looks like an awesome project.

Ninja

Thanks for all the offers of help guys:thumbs: I`ll be sure to let you know if I need any:sxoc:
There will be quite a few things needing fabrication, mounts, prop etc as there always is with an engine conversion especially one from a different manufacturer.
The gearbox will be a Mk 3 Supra R154 5 speed manual to begin with, if I reach the limit of that box then there is the alternative of using a Tremec TKO 600 which can handle over 600 ft/lb of torque but i`m trying to keep the initial costs down and just get the engine in the car and running.
The 3 things I am not sure on at the moment are what to do about the brake booster as I think will foul the right bank, to go turbo or supercharged and also what an S14 diff aftermarket or otherwise can handle and what the possible alternatives are.

Jezz_S13
20-03-2007, 17:11
I don't think you will have a problem with the STD S14 diff and power, they are pretty much bombproof.

I will most likely be using turbos as that`s what I know, to begin with it will be n/a just to get the engine in the car and iron out any problems there may be, the next step will be to convert to an aftermarket ECU (not saying which one coz it`s a secret and as yet has no name ;) )
once that is done i will start on the turbo installation then the engine will be rebuilt with low compression pistons, rods and cams:thumbs:
I will be using the car just as a toy with obvious drag uses and possibly drift, will have to see how it turns out.

The adapter was supplied by Thor Racing, the shifter is about 6 inches forward of the S14 one but there may be an easy solution to that.

***UPDATE***
Finally decided to take a break from the house and get on with the car, these are the engine mounts that I have made to bolt up to the standard 200sx mounts:

I have mounted the engine as far back as I can to give me as much space in front of the engine as possible and also because the Supra box is about 5 inches shorter than the S14 one, I made a couple of temporary brackets to hold the shifter central to the tunnel and this is how the shifter lines up:

http://www.sxoc.co.uk/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=46300&stc=1&d=1181304704

http://www.sxoc.co.uk/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=46301&stc=1&d=1181304743

http://www.sxoc.co.uk/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=46302&stc=1&d=1181304762

As you can see even though the shifter starts futher forward, a slight rake on the rod puts the knob almost central with the original hole, it`s probably about an inch futhar forward from standard and doesn`t really make any difference to shifting comfort
The dash will need modifiing but that`s simple enough and I have some ideas in mind :)

Ninja
08-06-2007, 12:18
Here you can see just how close it is to the bulkhead, there is about 1 cm clearance for the coolant hoses that come from the heater matrix to the back of the block:

http://www.sxoc.co.uk/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=46303&stc=1&d=1181305514

There is also very little clearence from the sump to the steering rack, I want the engine to sit as low as possible so the bonnet will shut, the sump may need modifying to give a bit more clearence:

http://www.sxoc.co.uk/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=46304&stc=1&d=1181305514

One place I have struck lucky is the fact that the front half of the S14 and Supra props are the same diameter so I just cut and shut them to the right length length, I then put a sleeve over the join and clamped it to keep it straight, there is also some adjustment in lenght so it will not be welded until everything is finalised.

http://www.sxoc.co.uk/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=46305&stc=1&d=1181305559

The next big hurdle I need to overcome is that there is no room in the engine bay for the clutch master cylinder or brake booster, there is room to put the clutch inside the cabin but i`m a bit stumped as to what to do with the brake booster, I have been looking at pedal boxes but this car will need good brakes and I`m not to sure about loosing the booster, any ideas or experience with pedal boxes (ie AP or Tilton) would be welcome
