Right then, i first bought my s14a a year ago, and then started saving and buying bitz from japan, for my s15 conversion...

I started it last week and here area few snaps and info on whats going on....

hopefully it will look and be one of the nicest conversions out there, hope u agree...
nice car when i bought it standard

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0072.jpg

I saved up, and each month got some parts, here u can see what i collected and where i got them from

Work emotion Cr's 17x9 bronze - japan
Tein super street coilovers - japan
Version select s15 conversion parts, including bumper, wings and side skirts - DME imported from USA
HKS hi power - Sumo power
Carbon fibre s15 bonnet - SRB power

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0080.jpg

I then started taking the car to bits just over a week ago
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0077-1.jpg
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0081.jpg
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0078.jpg

First job once the car was stripped was to put the bonnet on and line up the wings for a trial fit people say they dont ever line up and there right, something isnt quite right, but they wernt too bad as u can see, I used s15 bonnet hinges as when i used my s14a ones the bonnet touched and flexed on the hinge upwards at the corners, not good

Right then..

after i had the wings drilled i put the bonnet on and tried to line everything up

the gaps are close about half an inch, and look the same as the doors so when the cars painted black again, the gaps will be lost anyway

And nows the time to get a FMIC in there

Next was the headlights, not the easiest thing to do as the slam panel neds to be cut in order for the s15 lighhts to go back further into the car, hopefully the pics will show you where i cut etc...

This shows behind the lights on a standard s14a

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0088.jpg

I then cut it into this in order for the lights to fit, note the oval holes bulging upwards for the lights
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0090.jpg

Then because the lights wrap around the wings, the corners need triming for the s15 ones, you can see it on the right hand side where ive cut stright downwards

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0091.jpg

I cleaned them all up, and welded all the double skins back together to get more strength back into the front end... the 1st one was a nightmare, but i easily copied it to the other side

Markr
05-03-2007, 20:42
Once i had all the welding done i attempted to mount the lights, this needed custom brackets making to hold the lights, and the bonnet and wings needed tweeking in order to get everything aligned and correct,I didnt use the s15 light brackets, i just fabricated my own ones, which turned out just fine i think when painted black

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0094.jpg
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0095.jpg

Gaps look go to me!!

Once the front was all on, i had enough of hard front end bitz....I had to cut the s14a bumper support away and fab my own one, u can see what i cut away in this pic, u can see where the metal should go where the piece is sticking stright down, i had to curve the support, and then weld a piece back in into that curve area...simple job really
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0101.jpg
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0100.jpg

I had enough and wanted something easy to do, so i put my skirts on, not exactly easy, lots of trimming and door alterations to stop them catching when they open... but there on!!

GOD THERE LOW!!

Right back to the job or fixing the front bumper...

i needed to file quite abit out of the bumper grill area, think it was just a over kill from the moulding... nothing too major just time consuming, but if u want it right it takes time i guess

I fabricated too mounts on the underside, just below where an intercooler would sit, and two on the old s14a support bar...

this made it very strong, because the bumper also has two bolts each side going through into the wings, making the whole thing like factory!

This is how it stands, the car looks like the following.. all the inner arches go back on with slight cutting near the skirts but are ok, hope evryone likes it, patients and long hours with effort have finally rewarded me!!!

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0105.jpg
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0104.jpg

I had to put some clear side repeators on, easy job with a nice paper cut out to follow

I have now stripped it all down, and bought it for paint, so hopefully stay tuned people and keep cheaking back, as in the next week ill be hopfully putting it back together

thanks peopole:thumbs:

Cheers for the comments people, try and keep u updated every step, might help others aswell....

while the body parts are away, im cleaning and priming and then spraying up the front end where the surface rust has got in front of the lights and rad etc..just to make it look abit better and do a proper job, may even get my engine steam cleaned while its easy to get at, and polish it

looking good mate, seems you have done a good job of it so far, what colour you gonna go for?

black is fastest ;)

06-03-2007, 14:53
Sorry if you've answered this in your posts, but I couldn't help but ignore the text and just look at the pics :wack:

Is the fitment that tight stright out of the box as it were, or have you had to do some fettling :smash:

And black is clearly the right choice

PhilV
06-03-2007, 14:57
he did some fiddling :)

CrazySx
06-03-2007, 15:00
looking good mate.. will be nice to see the finished product.. not many in black around that i have seen.

Markr
06-03-2007, 15:34
yeah did a bit of fetling, but no actual bodywork like filler etc...which is good, the wings and front bumper all slot together stright out the box at the sides, the headlights needed a file, and the bonnet is fine once i pushed both wings in a little at the top....

all i did was file parts down etc any re-fiberglass the bracket behind the door at the top because it was at the wrong angle....

took a bit of work to get the lines right but it look stop on now...

and coming back to the colour ............................

BLACK OF COURSE!!!!

Markr
06-03-2007, 15:35
Oh and to answer the question about the wheels. ill be posting a bit more about them when i come to mount and fit them in the next week...

i imported all my bits from japan and USA.... very cheaply compared to this place!!

yeah i want a jap spec one... but were the hell do u get a rear bumper from - jap spec i mean, if i could find one id have it, i got rid of my kouki 1 ages ago...

JulesS14200
06-03-2007, 16:49
Just get a version select rear if you can get DME to get it  :D

Or Als junkyard in the traders section can get Kouki ones, you cant run a standard rear bumper mate, after all that effort It would let the car down.

You have to sort the rear bumper to make it complete

Markr
07-03-2007, 18:08
ive just picked up some rear spats from dano, so i think with a jap spec rear will look nice with the rest of the car

Right then.. a .little update i think,

i started putting the parts on today...

first job, i cleaned up the slam panel, and painted all the brackets i made and sprayed the slam panel aswell, to freshen everything up... it looks stop on now, really nice

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0123.jpg

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0125.jpg

I had the parts back from paint to 1st job was to fix the bonnet down and in place...nice and easy being carbon fibre, lovely and light...

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0126.jpg

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0127.jpg

The wings and everything had been on already as u have seen, so they went on really easily, with all the bolts already at hand...

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0131.jpg

I actually fiber glassed the mesh into the wings after they had been painted, i sprayed them a grey colour, so not to have shiny aluminium mesh, which would have looked a bit bright... they look quite bright as they are but i assure u they are grey in the flesh

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0130.jpg

cheers people again...

i imported all my parts really, perfect run, greenline and my wheels came from someone ive got to know in the us, really cheap compared to the uk

ive recently had some parts from nurgen aswell, some mr2 turbo parts for someone i know, and they came within about 3/4 weeks i think, no problems,

sometimes you get stung by import tax, 50/50 really, depends whats been put on the box aswell, we had gift put on the mr2 parts, and they got through without any problems...

front mount will go on once all done.... ill update later today with some more pics:nod:

Markr
15-03-2007, 12:54
Update time for today...

Once the two wings were on, i put all attachment bolts in but left them all loose, the new painted slam panel looks well nice with the nicely painted wings...

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0133.jpg

i then started on the headlights....

while the lights were off at paint, i bought some male/female connectors,(you can see them just under the light if u look) the jap s15 liughts had different connectors to the s14a car, so i cut all of them off on both car and light and soldered my own connectors on, this made a really nice factor look, and easy of taking the lights out much better....

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0134.jpg

Again when we got the lights on, the car looked brand new at the front, everything so so fresh and clean... really really looks something now. i think you'll agree:nod: .

well parts have cost about 1.5k for the body work to convert to an s15, but thats not including my works emotions, teins, hks exhaust etc...

I have fabrication skills and equiptment aswell, which helps a hell of a lot, if u had to rely on others doing things for you, the costs would spiral im guessing and the finish wouldnt be too good....

plenty more to come though.....

ive posted in a earlier thread about price i think... take a look back, hope it helps....if not give us a bell, id be more than willing to help anyone wanting info:thumbs:

as for the lights, s15 ones are sweet anyway, no need to change anything about them, brighter bulbs than the s14a ones aswell i found.... nicest lights ive ever come across....

suppose they should be for the price:wack:

Update for today....ive just come inside to upload these images for ya people...

After i fitted the lights and wired them up like in the last post, today i finally set the bonnet up, with the lights and wings...

Trying to get the gaps correct takes a bit of time but well worth it, and i think we've hit it bang on..

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0145.jpg

Once i had the lights right, i tightened down the wings, and made sure they were all correct

Quite happy with the gaps, and the seal around the wings & front lights-bonnet look like its all good, look the same so got to be good i guess:wack:

Update for the weekend....

The inner arches are all one, which i was well chuffed about!:D

BUT, we then tried to put the front bumper on....what a state!, the inner arches were stopping it going on....oh god:wack:

Well i took the front ones off, then the bumper went on easily....

mounted and fixed, with 2 bolts into each wing, two custom brackets below where a front mount would go off the chassis rails, as u can see in previous pictures when i made them, and two bolts on the crash support bars than protrude outwards of each side the rad

WHAT A RESULT!! WELL HAPPY!!!

I have been watching this for a while as i am in two minds to do a face lift on my s13 but looking on how big a change its made to the 14a i may just make it even though i have just bought the wide arch kit.

Looks great the car and black is the colour to have also the side skirts make a very big difference to the car matey good work.

Markr

With most of the body work on, minus the rear spats and rear bumper (coming soon), i started on the coilovers and stripped the brakes down and painted them...

brakes next, firstly a picture as they were (not good:hurl: )

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0164.jpg

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0167.jpg

I painted them with hammerite, stripped and cleaned them, and then smoothed all the bumps etc.. about 3 coats later and they looked great, the colour is grey with red letters, which i think will look really nice behind the bronze works emotions....

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0176.jpg

Mounted them all back up, and they look real nice....

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0179.jpg

Forgive me for the disks, the car has stood for a while now, and i think ill be getting the apex brake kit soon aswell which will look even better

Coilovers - Very easy job once i got the standard shocks off, but they took some getting off, in the end i used some heat to free up the bolts, which was tricky with the ABS lines near where i needed the heat!:wack:

Nicer than the standard items, top mounts included, aswell as damper adjustment, which should be nice enough for the road...

I started this morning, taking all my exhaust off, and replacing it with the following

Apex S14a Elbow
Apex S14a Downpipe
Apex Decat
HKS Hi-Power Cat back

oh and some uprated hangers

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0172.jpg

Took some getting off, but once on the fit is good, the only concern is the hks hanging down under the diff, with my car running very low on 17's speed bumps are propably a no no now, but it doesnt hang any lower than the side skirts, so where the front end/skirts can go the exhaust can and vis versa

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0174.jpg

The rear can is massive, and looks awesome, with the lazer ettched lettering on the tip....nice angled up and outwards, without being too much

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_01773.jpg

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_01775.jpg

I started it up for the first time earlier, and my god what a nice sound, a lovely burble ticking over once warm, really really deep sounding.. loud when u want it to be, and silent on half/light throttle, the turbo sound is just so nice now, lovely hiss, woosh when u accelerate, oh and the odd bang..... :p

BEST  MOD:nod: EVER!

That looks really good mate. Lots of sweat and tears have gone into the project, the way it should be. i much prefer people doing the work themselves then going into a bodyshop and handing over £5k for them to bodge it up.

Reminds me I should also start saving up for a MIG welder ;)

Looks good mate, you've done a top job with the panel gaps considering you didn't fill them all to meet up :) It took ages and loads of filler to get mine gap-free.

Nice colour for it too :)

Looking good mate. I think i saw you on Sunday. Were you going past Esso on the A50 in the afternoon?

Markr
27-06-2007, 12:43
Archenemy (Momo Phil) come out to sort my rear arches out on sunday... what a job!

Started at 11, lovely wet day but all wasnt bad, 1. we were at my parent house in doors:D and 2. we got regular food supplyed by mother! :D

after a couple of hours, these were the results...

Lovely Works Emotion Rims

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0318.jpg

Firstly tried the rim on the car, 17x9 +17mm 255/40/17 rubber at the rear, i have it down around 30mm at the min, so about 2 deg on the back phil seamed to think maybe..

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0311.jpg

Phil did recon that i would only need a lip roll really, maybe a small pull, but i wanted something what looked somewhere near the front arches, as ive got wider on the front, the rears look quite lost...

Phil got one with heating the lip, and slowly folding it back, then started to pull and flare it out...

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0312.jpg

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0313.jpg

As you can see from the pic the arch is now flared out, it is in line with the fronts now, can just see from the side of the car the paint work reflection, making a lovely flare, nothing too massive just nice

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0314.jpg

After he had ate us out of house and home! ;) with sausage cobs coming into sight he took a break befor he put some sealer on the rolled lip, to stop any unwanted water and dirt going down there and staying there...
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0316.jpg

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0315.jpg

Then refitted the wheel, and it looked even better... the wheel just tucks in, cannot remember how much extra room we got, it was a lot though, im sure phil will tell you

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/IMG_0317.jpg

Overall a good day, bit of food, prepared by my mum, and the work on the car went really well!

BIG THANKS PHIL!!!

good job i didnt put the wheels on it!!!

not even got my parts on it yet....

well, i got the car home, and too the parts off , and now ive built it up better, with all new polly bushes, and braces etc... and also powder coated all the underside, like brand new....

the state of the rear end wasnt the best with rust, and dirt

I got all the parts stripped down and i shot blasted them all, with very fine grade grit, so that it would not damage and threads, and leave the surface smooth ready for paint.. and boy did it make them smooth!!!

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/DSC00051.jpg

We then painted everything and powder coated the items required, i was going to be different and go for white and green (tein green to match the coilovers)underbody...:wack:

the paint is a kind of stove enemel/plastic paint which i picked up free from my mate, it is as hard as rock once set, and makes powder coat look like water based wall paint! it was awesome stuff.... wrecked my gun though!:wack:

Right, i started colecting all my parts together, but first i cleaned all the arches out..

i got rid of all the dirt, and cleaned them up with a wire wheel on a grinder, then a nylon wheel on a drill... got them up like new,i then painted underseal and then got them in hammerite black to protect them uven more and put a nice hard finish n them...

Cleaned up...!

Once the arches were all painted, i started to put together the subframe off the car, the diff has been cleaned & painted, and i also installed all the driftworks subframe bushes...

Note: the new bolts freshly zinc plated, made it well easy to install with alittle grease on them all, should be nice when someone comes to strip it down again:wack:
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture026.jpg

We greased up the car mounting points and lifted the subframe assemble into position, everything looking rather nice now

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture027.jpg

Note: i cleaned, wire brushes/wheel and nylon wheeled the under side of the car, everything now is nice and hard black paint

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture028.jpg

Dont worry, we put the funny shaped spacer washer on the back mounts under the bushes after that picture was taken, just forgot to at that point:wack:

Right, once the subframe was bolted onto the car with the diff installed, i concentrated on the hub assembly's

Firstly i installed both the lower arms, and bolted them onto the car, with the new driftworks orange bushes also..

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture030.jpg

When the lower arms were installed, i assembled the hubs and adjustable arms off the car, the bushes took ages to get in, and they were extreamly tight, which is probebly good when it comes to the handling....

We assembled the hubs, and the brake back plates first, with the DW bushes

That is one fun looking jigsaw :wack:

17-10-2007, 22:37
cheers people... more to come, most bolts can only go in certain places anyway i found.. never had any pictures, just assembled it as i remembered, and by just looking:thumbs:

The plating was done in my mates plating baths, you would never get it as good as that, there are just too many variables he said, which i can imagin...:wack:

The car gets cleaned each time it goes out in the rain outside and under, so the paint on the inner arches is more than fine... plus i sprayed a small amount of laquer over it, which made it hard enough to cope with most things...

well had a bit of an accident with the front end, scratched the bonnet, and cracked the wing.... so ive had to replace them... argh,

Before i set about doing any more to the rear end, my parts came for the front end conversion, so i set about installing them, i can do it with my hand s behind my back now, and the lines are even better than last time...

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture020.jpg

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture021.jpg

Oh and i got some nice new sideskirts, dont worry about the horrible side indicator they put into the charge speed wings, i have located mine back into the vent if u can see, and smoothed oveer the hole with fibreglass...

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture019.jpg

Now the front ends all done, again it will go off for painting while i concentrate on the underside....

The lines this time are far superior to the first conversion, i took more time filing the skirts where they meet the body, and also the front bumper around the lights, so they fit tighter under them..you'll see with the final pics how good it is, and thats without any filler at all!!!

If anyone wants to see how i fixed things on,regarding the front end panels/conversion,please see the first conversion in the first few pages of this thread, it basically was the same process involved...

Once i had the hub assembly's made up with all the new bushes in, and adjustable arms ready and all greased up, we assembled them on the car...

the drive shafts were all shot blasted and painted also in black to match the diff, and nice clips on the rubber boots pollished up...

How nice is it to use new bolts on a car!!!!

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture034.jpg

In the picture below you can see the exhaust shields which i also painted black to keep the underside all the same, with fresh bolts it really m akes a difference

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture036.jpg

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture035.jpg

Oh and note, i cleaned up and painted the diff cooler,it had a few damaged fins, but the flow was still ok through it, so shouldnt be a problem, but havnt got any pictures of that im afraid, sorry people:wack:

Once the coilovers were in place, i got around to looking at the ARB, that dan had sent me...

these are the godspeed ones, lovely red colour, i left them as they were as they looked fairly good, i painted the drop links what came with them though, to match the green

i painted the brackets aswell which hold the ARB onto the car, they came with all the new rubbers aswell which was nice

I quickly painted the disks, and mounted the brake caliper, after its clean up and paint...i only painted were they can go rusty... not too bothered about them as im planning big disaks next after they wear down...

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture045.jpg

Next up was the front running gear..

i cleaned up, shot blasted all the front as the rear, lovely new driftworks polybushed arm and adjustable caster arms...

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture046.jpg

I zinc plated some new bolts to use with the arms aswell..

The length of the caster arm was just put so that the polybush wasnt under any stress either way, that way i could tell it was about standard, so i could go have it aligned..

Nice new godspeed front anti roll bars now...

same as the rears, i painted the drop links green to match, and the brackets aswell...

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture050.jpg

I also took off the steering arm rod ends, blasted them and coated them, with new castle nuts

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture051.jpg

With everything ready and greased up, they went onto the car..

I also took delivery of a front lower brace, (did it my green :D )

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w271/markruddock/Picture048.jpg

this should help the turn in and stiffen up the front end no end, as there is nothing on the lower side of the front subframe on an s14..so must be better than nothing anyway:wack:

i also got the exhaust sitting about 2-3 inch higher than before, so the ground clearrance now when lowered more, is still ok

Car is looking brilliant mate, can't wait to see it finished. Why haven't you got the new wheels on it? Need to do something to freshen up the back though, would be a shame to do all the work to the front and just leave the back. Not too sure what you could do with the rear lights because eveything I've seen that changes the lights looks poo. I think putting S15 lights in would be cool and a 1st. Lot of hard work tho and lots of welding. Keep up the good work. :D

brake hoses.. they were wrong from the supplier, so i cut the ends off and put on some new ones, using banjo bolts, so they turned 90 deg straight out of the caliper... they just tighten up and clamp onto the hoses... basically custom fittings on the end, they used to make them like this but due to law they have to be sealed end to end..... race stuff is all bolt together brake lines still.... much better as u can just change them to whatever u want..

i took the brackets off....carefully prised them open, shot blasted them and painted them... then while the paint was just soft enough to touch bend them back over the lines.....

clever hey! but u need to know when there not going to be wet enough to go onto the pipes....

Who supplied the brake hoses then? Surely if you buy hoses specific to a vehicle they should just bolt straight on

apex ones with the bracket/fixing for the strut, but the strut bracket/fixing was back to front (see pics of the lines somewhere in the thread, if u look u can see) so i just cut the ends off, swaped it around, and then put my own ends back on... much better then how they came, can u have to rotate the whole cable aswell in the caliper to screw it either in or out, with a banjo u just release the bolt and the banjo comes off without rotating the whole line...

as for the rear, the back ones came staright out of the caliper and in a stright line onto the chassis strut (kind of a out-down and up wave type line).. because i have 9' rims it came across that line, so would rub on the inside of the rim edge...

i but a banjo again so i could rotate the lines in any difection out of the caliper, so it came out of the caliper towards the car body round the rim instead....

not just a pretty face :D

Out of interest mate,
Why didn't you just use standard factory S15 parts for your front end conversion.
S14a and S15 front slam pannels are the same, so you can bolt the S15 bumper bar, headlight support bar and headlight mounts right on there.

Great work tho mate. Real attention to detail :)

to get an s14a slam panel out and an s15 one in and get it in place correctly is a very hard task to do, didnt want to take my slam panel out and core support out when its ok where it is... the way ive done it retains all the stength of the orig support, while getting the lights in the correct place for the bumper, as the bumper sometimes doesnt line up 100% to the lights, then the bonnet will be out, and getting everything to match everything else...... just was better to do it this way pal i thought.... and it turned out perfect so cant complain really

You don't need to remove anything as you can bolt the Standard Nissan OEM bumper bar, up to the S14 mounts. There is then a second bar which goes above the main bumper bar which holds the bumper flush to the lights. They are all OEM nissan parts that can be purchased through any main nissan dealer.

Here you go :)

yeah but the lights hit the core support on the s14a because there deeper designed pal...

& dont need a bumper bar under the lights pal etc..... after market bumpers dont have any fixings and are very stable also when there fixed on the grill intake and on the chassis rails at the front;)

Problem arises when you actually hit something. Not running the bumper bar means that if (in the unlikley event) that you do have a prang etc, whatever hits the front of the car, is more than likley going to continue through into the engine bay, taking your bonnet, bummper, slam pannel, radiator and everything else with it.

I run an S15 front end on my S14.5 Drift Car. Even with weight being an obvious issue, i still run both the bumper and light bars. It holds everything together better on the front and firms up the supports on the front of the car as they connect to both the headlights, bumper bar and the wings.

But heck, it's your car and your doing pretty well so far! Just trying to give you a few pointers from somebody who has been through it all before :D

I can confirm that the S15 bumper bar and headlamp support bar will fit with the S14/a rad-core support (the slam panel, and 3 upright bars).

All you need to do to the S14/a core support is cut or enlarge the hole behind the headlamp, as the lamps are deeper and wider on the S15.

Both the bumper bar and headlamp bar are pretty cheap anda vailable through Nissan UK, so well worth fitting. Especially the bumper bar for crash protection.

yeah i understand where u both coming from but everything on mine is prety sturdy, u can pratically stand on each of the lights without them going anywhere with my fabricated brackets etc...so i dont like the headlight support bar

ill probably fit the bumper bar whenni take the bumper off the fit the front mount if there available from nissan uk....

my thoughts are if u hit something head on, then ur fault and are surelly doing something u shoudn't.. if u prang it, be more careful, then fix it.... simple

thanks for the comments anyway

If you've got perfectly good headlamp brackets then there's no real need for the upper bar, although I think it does provide some support to the bumper to stop it sagging - again, less of an issue with an aftermarket GRP bumper than it would be with plastic, which is more flexible.

I'd definitely fit the main bar for protection though :)

yeah i know about the sagging...and yes i think it may attach tothe bumper somehow... this uras bumper is very thick and supported on the grill and chassis legs aswell so should be ok for years....

as for the bumper bar think i will do once i take ot off to ft the FMIC

cheers chap
