View Full Version : finally done the 14a front end conversion on my 14

Wanted the 14a when i first bought my 14 3 years ago but just couldn't afford it and after changing nearly all the parts on my car (including the shell:eek: ) thought it would be worth doing the front end conversion, so helped Tony2sx of here break numerous cars and for my troubles i managed to get nearly all the bits i needed to do my conversion for very little money:thumbs:
Then decided to do a kitted 14a so many hours of overtime later finally bought the kit i was after then kept my eye out for the final pieces of the puzzle a bonnet and bumper support. finally badassx came to my rescue and while i was there saw a spoiler that looked perfect so after a little haggling came away with the lot.
So now the project could begin.
heres what the car looked like up until last monday.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c345/Swebb200sx/DSC00158.jpg
after talking with sprayer i decided as had nearly all parts spare to keep costs down and time without car to a minimum i would have all parts sprayed off car and fit it all myself once car had been sprayed so took all bits down to him and picked them up over last few weeks heres some of bits sprayed up.

then started to strip front end and take doors off ready and fit the new parts in reverse order

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c345/Swebb200sx/DSC00332.jpg
by this time i was running out of light as was messing about with door wiring for a while as the doors were off an import so some slight differeces in wiring:cry:

but carried on for all today and this is as far as i have got

Also you can't see in photos but fitted a hid kit as itgets rid of most of 14 to 14a headlight wiring issues and from what people say the 14a dipped beam was rubbish:rolleyes:

is there any differences in the front cross members/slam panel?

SWEBB
22-02-2007, 08:53
is there any differences in the front cross members/slam panel?

not a lot really on 14a it has some large cut outs for access to headlight bulbs and also theres a slight differnce where headlight bolts to slam panel, the holes don't lign up however the plastic locating lug lines up fine, so I just drilled a new hole in slam panel and put a nut and bolt on so headlights fit fine. The only other thing i removed was the plates where the original foglight bracket screw on but not sure if you would need to do this if fitting a standard bumper:thumbs:
