View Full Version : Project Phoenix
as most already know we (Buffy and myself) are building an S13....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
so after the little fire we had while mapping my car (wheel spinning at 140mph  )
it was time for a new plan...
with thanks to Mel B I got my hands on a new shell (well he gave it to Buffy and buffy then graciously passed it on to me  )
the end...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1838.jpg
the start...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1699.jpg
we had to get it back to Buffy's garage and as she was still drivable I drove it there, but I had to stick £2 in petrol (if that wasn't embarrassing enough Buffy took a pic of the fuel pump :o )
once at the garage it was time to prep her....1/2 hr into the strip we got this far..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1706.jpg
at this point Mel B came around and said "that was a compleat car 3 hrs ago.."
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1719.jpg
back to the shell prep...
as we wanted to do something thats never been done to a 200 the thinking caps went on...
ND came up with a few as did Buffy and myself
so it was time to put them into practice
first to go was this...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1851.jpg
Buffy set to it with some power tools.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1860.jpg
and a few hrs later the bastid was out...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1868.jpg
then came the refit
first off came the suporting bars to take the new fuel tank
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1897.jpg
then the new floor
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1890.jpg
then we made this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1912.jpg
to fit in here
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1898.jpg
like so
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1913.jpg
one new floor to house new fuel tank..
some of the crap we cut out...(more to come)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1871.jpg
after replacing the boot floor Buffy let me loose with the welder (well it is mine)
so I welded up the back..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1930.jpg
we then got rid of all the sound proof stuff and started seam welding her..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1980.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1976.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1935.jpg
as we seam welded we also primed..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2003.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1989.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2024.jpg
the whole boot floor also got primed..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2084.jpg
as we started welding we found the odd bit of rust so we fixed it..
this one was behind the door hinges both sides..
we cut out the rust..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/Copy5of100_1932.jpg
replaced and prime..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1949.jpg
the battery tray was next to go..
sweet job dont you think..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2244.jpg
we also made a nice hole for a new air feed..
Mike made this..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2219.jpg
for here
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2217.jpg
and looks like this..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2235.jpg
ok, now for some weight saving..
the first thing we cut up was the doors...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_1855.jpg
we also removed the lecy window
loads of weight there
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_1857.jpg
as for the drivers door the lecy window will be staying..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_1914.jpg
we then had a look at the bummper..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2215.jpg
now to lose more weight the subframe came under scrutiny..
so off came the counter weights
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2036.jpg
bit of a twaty job but we managed to remove all 4 lumps of metal..
if its not needed its coming off...
before any work was carried out on the subframe we first had
to get the old bushes out...
a quick trip up to Merthyr to see Chris
and no more bushes...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20spec%201/100_2016.jpg
with the uesless bits of metal now gone its off to the shot blaster for the
subframe and other bits..
before
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2047.jpg
after
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2153.jpg
also
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2132.jpg
and a home made power brace
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2134.jpg
then we fitted some solid bushes
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2163.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2162.jpg
re fitting the front subframe and power brace
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2143.jpg
I have to say fitting the power brace was a pain...
watch out for the captive nuts they can snap off, as did mine..
so we cut out the side of the inner rail to gain access to the little bugger..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2146.jpg
next job we had to do was get the shell's interior painted so the roll cage
could be fitted...
out came the spray gun..
before
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2102.jpg
after
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2119.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2105.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2118.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2125.jpg
the big man in action (me)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2117.jpg
now the painting of the shell is compleated its time for the rollcage...
you would not believe the trouble we had finding a company to make us a cage..
4 of us went to the autoshow at the NEC thinking we would find one...
and we did, unfortunately they are based in Yorkshire...
now the first challange we faced was to get the car to Yorkshire..
as we didn't have a trailer Buffy came up with the idea of an A Frame...
so we made one (it did an awesome job)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2347.jpg
I would like to say a big thank you to Protection & performance for an
awesome job they did on the rollcage..
The cage is all T45 to keep the weight down..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2197.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2199.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2201.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2204.jpg
and now all painted up..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2268.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2267.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2264.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2255.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2253.jpg
now its time for the car to go to its second home...ND's
Mr Norris was kind enough to let Mike and myself have the run of his workshop
all by ourselves
so off we went to ransack I mean work in his garage..
firts thing was to drop the rear subframe..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2297.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2300.jpg
then we stone chipped her..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2307.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2308.jpg
and the refit begins..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2311.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2313.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2314.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2319.jpg
Mike with the 1 finger lift..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2348.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2349.jpg
now for the brakes...
up rated brakes all around..
rear (R33's)
new
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2375.jpg
modded
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2378.jpg
painted
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2382.jpg
prep and painted
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2389.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2391.jpg
now to fit the new calipers and discs we had to cut away the dust cover
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2406.jpg
front (4 pot brembo's with 330mm discs)
spot the new ones
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2342.jpg
with longer studs
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2353.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2401.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2361.jpg
now with all the pads in place its time to sort out the brake lines and as we are diching the ABS and servo we are fitting 2 new master cylinders...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2272.jpg
we are also fitting a line lock
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2399.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2400.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2402.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2415.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2407.jpg
to the rear
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2410.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2414.jpg
we bent the bracket slightly to get a nice stright fit (brake line to braded line)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2412.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2413.jpg
ok with every thing in place it was time to bleed the brakes
with the first few pumps of the brakes we found 4 leaks
1 at the rear T (the pipe going to the drivers side)
turns out to be a fecked thread inaside the T so we need a new one
the other T also leaked (we fixed that)
and the thingy with the wire leaked out of both ends
so we changed fittings and managed to stop the leak
the only leak we still have is out of the rear T...we'll change that next time..
fitting brake pipes is not the easyest job but if you have time (we didnt)
you can do it (we need to slow down abit)
the thing is for Mike and Myself time is something we dont have a lot of
as we have to travel just over an hour to get to ND's before we can start work
its not in Mike's garage anymore so you cant just pop up and do stuff..
now for the real twat of a job....
setting up the brake bias..
We are using .75 rear and .625 front cylinders with the bias bar attached to
the brake pedal...
Mike fecking about with the bias
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2448.jpg
this is what it looks like under the dash
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2020.jpg
by welding the tube on to take the bar
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2029.jpg
we had to cut this away
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2021.jpg
so it woulden't foul on the brake pedal when pushed..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2027.jpg
nothing is ever easy is it
time to re bleed the brakes (thanks to Jimmy Somerville for the help)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20build%201/100_2454.jpg
ok.... some action shots

Norris getting ready to receive a finger up his arse
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/new%20spec%201/100_2453.jpg
now for the fuel system..
the new tank..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2499.jpg
its baffled and foam filled
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2500.jpg
it will sit inside the hole
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2498.jpg
the fuel pump will sit here..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/000_0005.jpg
and we ran the fuel lines..
dash 8 to deliver and dash 6 return
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/000_0007.jpg
so Dave could make a new engine loom we had to fit the engine
so he could get the measurement right....
so this is the first time this engine has been in this shell...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_1839.jpg
allmost there..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2367.jpg
and in...well bugger me it fits..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2368.jpg
going to try something differnt to the front so we cut away the slam panel
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/000_0029.jpg
and finished off the ends like this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/000_0028.jpg
as far as I know this has not been done to a 200..
we also plan to fit an angle bit of ally accross the opening to make it a removable
slam panel.
should also make it quicker to remove and re fit the engine if ever needed..
to save even more weight 1 of the wipers had to go..
so we came up with a single wiper conversion...
first off we had to cut up the 2 arms and re weld them together to get the
correct lengh
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2224.jpg
then shape them (bend, twist) so as they rotate they miss the bulkhead and give a clean sweep
on the screen
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2223.jpg
we also had to cut, shorten and re weld this to make the sweep the correct arc
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2226.jpg
a bit trial and error to get the bend and lenth right..
we also hooked the wiper motor up tp a battery to see what the final sweep was like..
then we had to remove the screen (without any screen removing tools)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/200sx%201/100_2181.jpg
that was fun..
now for the rear lights..
didn't want standard or a set of Kouki's so went for R32 rears..
first we cut away a load of waste metal
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/rearlights.jpg
then made new by placing the lights where we wanted them to sit and cut and welded in new metal to take up the space between them and the lights
All the other 13's we'v seen have mounted the R32 lights in a way which requires cutting the tailgate. This was something we wanted to avoid doing, so we chopped the back of the car instead (explanation by Mike)
The bodshop will make a new surround to blend the car and lights when finished.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2096.jpg
and fitted the new lights
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2093.jpg
and should look something like
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2322.jpg
and one with Mike in it...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/build/100_2283.jpg
in the mean time (while the shell is at the bodyshop) it was time
to dyno the engine....
now the engine has not been started since the fire so now came D DAY...
Nd and Yop bolting it to the dyno while Dave (out of shot) finished off the loom...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/Img_0547.jpg
almost ready for starting...(Dave in the background)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/Img_0543.jpg
SHE RUNS....glowing nicely
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/Img_0559.jpg
thanks to Jez H for the pics..
some bodywork mods...
we have gone for some perspex rear quarters (dark smoke)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/100_2503.jpg
think they could be darker myself but we'll see when its all sprayed up...
on closer inspection it look just right....
we also have a carbon rear hatch...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/000_0020.jpg
no third brake light and no rear wiper
now.....we did want a spoiler and I thought this was the answer but
when we put it on the car it didn't seem right some how..
a bit like marmite..you love it or hate it (I like marmite :P )
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/000_0026.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/000_0025.jpg
in the end we decided to go spoilerless...
ps the spoiler is for sale..
sold to Spesh
we have gone for fiberglass (more weight saving) front wings but with a difference.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/000_0030.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/000_0031.jpg
went to the bodyshop for a look see (loads to do...PULL your finger out Will)
anyway the new carbon bonnet needs fixing and as we have diched the hinges
for aerocatches Will made these
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/garage007.jpg
to fit like this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/garage009.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/garage010.jpg
now the rear lights are a bit more of a pain...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/garage013.jpg
a lot more work left to do still
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/garage015.jpg
remember to always do up your nuts......
check out the drivers side front wheel.....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/Image003.jpg
as we were towing the shell I looked in the mirror and thought there was somthing wrong with the camber....
we found out why.........
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/Image002.jpg
do up your nuts lads......
and sprayed
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/side.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/leftside.jpg
getting there.......
some of the interior..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/cage4.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/cage3.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/cage.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/cage2.jpg
oh the power graph (for the time being)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bigtone/Img_0560_edited.jpg
and this is where we are at to date.....
Hooray!!! My favorite project on this forum is back!!! Glad to see things are progressing nicely!!! This is the project that inspired me to strip mine down to bare metal and build it from the ground up! :wack:
I've been looking forward to seeing this project again on the BB  is it going to be ready at Japfest?
looking great!...and the power

Great work going on there. Its like a symmetry of my R324 project :)
Is that a B&M short shift I've spied there too? I bought one for the SR22 too.
Its gonna be pretty mental when all is said and done :)

Great Stuff. Have you left anything uncut ? ;)
I am all of a sudden getting the feeling i am not doing enough with my car :).
If you dont mind me asking.... At what boost were those 640HP's achived ?
I am estimating it would take about 43 PSI of boost, to make 640HP at 7800RPM on a 1809L Engine.
Is this what you'r running - Almost 4 BAR or am i reading something wrong here ???
43psi is "only" almost 3 bar ;)
Tones engine made 633hp on race fuel @ about 2.1 bar iirc

My car is running around 220bhp and has good bodywork, yet thanks to this, I'm considering rebuilding it from scratch :annoyed:
Your car has prevented me from any impure thoughts about skylines now I have a job where I could consider getting an r32 GTR. Believe me, the impure thoughts were there, but no longer.

Buffy you'r right, i ment almost 3 BAR, and not 4.
But still, how did you guys manage that ?
Racing Fuel or Not, is only to prevent detonation, but the engine still needs to be able to inhale enough air for 633HP, reguardless of the fuel you use - Unless you use Jet Fuel wich in it self produces more energy, or this RACE fuel is not just OCTANE BOOSTED....
The "Race Fuel" we have here in Israel, is just a higher octane fuel, so iam guessing what you use is something else then? Can you explain to me what it is exactly ?
I guess i mix up my terminology of the things.
As i know, for an engine of 1809cc to produece 633HP , it needs to inhale about 928.89, wich at 7800 RPM means that it has to boost 43 PSI's for that....
So....???

That car will be amazing when finished - as well as having that much power, so much weight has been lost from the bodywork!. Well done :)

Holy repost! :wack: Read above mate....2.1 bar and race fuel.
The reason for it needing 2.1 bar rather than 4 bar is probably because internal combustion engine efficiency increases to nearly 40% at higher load, compared to 22% when driving normally. Therefore you need less air / fuel burnt to get the same BHP. Although the fuel efficiency decreases on boost (due to enrichment), the power output 'efficiency' doesn't.
Master Chief

Roger_Sausage - I Reposted by mistake, and fixed it - sorry for that.
landspeed - Either I dont understand what you say, our your wrong.
Take a look at my previous post on this thread.
great project:nod:
Nice too see you back tone:thumbs:
Race fuel is around 116 Octane, and therefore you can dial in a lot more advance = more power at lower boost.
boost is not what you need to measure to calculate engine power, but flow, flow depends on boost and restrictions. Hence why a small turbo @ 1 bar produces less power than a large turbo @ 1 bar as its all about flow. Flow depends on cams, manifolds - well, lots of things.
 yay BigTones back:clap:
is that going to be the finished colour? Its a proper Stealth look:nod:

SM, i dont whant to hijack the tread from its main topic.
Just on thing though - Aturbo doesnt produece power. A turbo simply supports the power made by the engine. An engine with a small turbo @ 1 bar, will make less power then with a bigger turbo @ 1 bar, because the increassed back pressure that the smaller tubo will create.
Allso, you can only advance the timing by so mutch, and the advnced timing will not create as much power as compared to increasing the boost.
I still find hard to understand how 640HP are achived at 2.1 BARS on a 1809L engine at 7800 RPM.
Buffy you'r right, i ment almost 3 BAR, and not 4.

Although Tony has given you the basic spec of the engine some secrets still remain ;) (no nitrous :ghey: before anybody asks) Norris Designs built the
engine and as far as I'm aware it's their most powerfull CA to date. Try asking Simon at ND if he'll tell you every aspect of this engine given the amount of money he has invested trying various specs to get this far :p

Has to inhale about 928.89 what? Cubic feet a minute? That would be based on various assumptions including about the brake specific fuel consumption of the engine and so on and so forth. Perhaps the assumptions you are making are not accurate?

The CFM is accurate, but he hasn't corrected for density, temp, and a number of other factors that you must rate along with CFM.
900 CFM at the top of Mount Everest is not the same mass as 900 CFM in Bermuda

BigTone, the build looks good dude. I like the R32 tails, they fit the body lines pretty well.

18-02-2007, 10:31
I am talking about CFM, and my assumptions are based on the BEST case Cenario, wich usualy it never is.
That means, that in Real life, EVEN more the 43PSI's of boost would be needed to reach those 640HP at 7800RPM on a 1809L engine, or higher RPM.
BTW: this has nothing to do with secret aspects of the built - Those secret can only help the engine get closer to its full potential (Best case cenario).
In other words, There is no way for a 1809L engine, to produce 640HP, at 7800RPM @ 2.1 BARS, unless its using some kind of other then PETROL fuel.
Its either higher boost, or higher RPM, or some Hi Enregy burning fuel (like JET or Alcohol etc.) , or some enormous Compresion Ratio.
Even if iam off here, i am not off by much.
Sorry to go on about this, im just curious.
we used VP race fuel (this is NOT Jet or Alcohol fuel) we did not run the
car over 2.1 bar of boost and only took it to 7800rpm

Very nice project, a good read. Looking foward to see how the project goes :)
There is no way for a 1809L engine, to produce 640HP, at 7800RPM @ 2.1 BARS, unless its using some kind of other then PETROL fuel
By putting a turbo on a car you are increasing the flow it can take.
EG a 1.8 running 1 bar (2 bar absolute) of boost is flowing the same air as a 3.6.
Tones 1853cc running 2.1 bar is the equivalent of 5,744cc normally aspirated flow. Therefore the power fig's stand to reason in my opinion.
you can get 200bhp out of a NA 5.5 litre engine or you can get 600bhp out of a NA 5.5 litre engine neither run boost so obviously the guy with 600bhp is lying LOL

Sorry to go on about this, im just curious.
The point is, it IS running 2.1 bar (several people have stated), it is 1809cc (what would be the point in saying it was, if it wasn't?), and it HAS produced 633bhp. I don't know any of these guys personally, but I believe everything they are saying. As someone else has said, ask Simon Norris how he did it (although I doubt he'd tell you).....
And at the end of the day, this WILL be a 633bhp S13 so who cares about how much CFM they need - they've already achieved it.
Great to see you back on track Tone:thumbs: This ones obviously gonna be alot better than the last:) Go on, tell us what colour it's gonna be..;) Can't wait to see it on the track at Castle Coombe:eek: :D

Well the arguement ends in that he did make that power so he is flowing that amount.
You aren't accounting for density.

2.1bar boost is in realilty 3.1bar absolute pressure after you've added the 1 bar atmospheric pressure, and therefore is 44.9psi absolute.
