well as everyone else was doing one i thought id give it a go aswell.
heres a pic of her as she was bought (minus the air filter) pretty tidy, only needing a little welding on the sills and the slight bubbling on the suspension turrets:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/kytfdki.jpg

then the intercooler and such were fitted (along with catch tank and strut brace)
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/s1310-1.jpg

then my attention was taken to despoilering, although it has been repaired before, it was starting to come through again, a fibreglass one will go on eventually but i thought id give it a go myself (with the aid of mammoths help:))
removed spoiler:

holes cut:

plates welded in:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/P1010150.jpg

fillered:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/P1010157.jpg

sanded and primed:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/bootr.jpg

this was then sprayed to match the car with halfords, (not a great match but it will do as it was tatty before and you cant tell too much when its dirty lol)

then it was time for brakes and suspension:
old:

old vs new:

suspension and cut dust guard to fit larger disk:

new calipers and disks fitted:

money shot:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/done1-1.jpg

then came the time to sort out the engine bay as it was caked in filth and bits of rust were starting to come through:

old bay :
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/P1010661.jpg

left wing, partly stripped:

right wing stripped:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/P1010664.jpg

then the engine bay was cleaned as much as possible and degreased, rust sealer stuff (thankyou hammerite) was put on all the rusty areas once wire brushed as much as possible. the front crossmember was quite bad for this but luckily has been repaired before so no welding was needed to be done. then the engine bay was sprayed matt black, this was done with the enging still in place but masked off as you can see. proved to be a bit of a ball ache but as i dont have the space for an engine crane it had to do:

sprayed bay and wings:

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/10-12-06_1234.jpg

then it was just a case of bolting everything back up and hoping i didnt end up with too many spare parts:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/Picture046.jpg
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/Picture043.jpg
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/Picture044.jpg

while i was at it i also stone chipped and rust proofed the wings:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/ferretca18/09-12-06_1425.jpg

the wings were also stone chipped as there were rubbing issues with the arch liners so they had to be removed. There are still a few last things to get sorted out like some welding (the turret tops will have the rust cut out and plated welded from behind, then filled, and new turret top reinforcers will be cut and welded in as the old ones were rusted through) ill post pics of my progress as i get on. Note all of this was done in my garage away from my house with no electricity or heat (which was nice and comfortable when it was wet and windy lol) i wanted to do this ever since petrols thread and thought sod it. really satisfying having most of the work done and that i did it myself:)

get a ps13 mate, ill have to hump your leg if you do tho!
Gary, the sills are plated but i want them to be cut out and made to look nice and new again.
ive decided to leave the cutting out of the rust on the turrets untill i have the weather to weld it up (knowing my luck not for a good year or so lol) as i dont wanna drive with holes everywhere
