View Full Version : Bodywork Finished. Needs Engine.
My 180 is finally finished in the bodyshop. After much fannying around with changed of plan, parts, colour and ideas, the car is finally sprayed. So...later on tonight...
This...

...will be meeting up with this...

yay. :D
Oh, the back looks like this...but you've all seen an S13 arse end, huh?
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/done4.jpg
silly question but isnt that engine a ca? and if its a 180... shouldnt it have a sr?
What wheels are they fella?
They look very familiar
Not got a clue. They're not wide enough, though. Nowhere near.
Don't think the previous owner knows, either. He certainly doesn't know where he put his locking wheel nut key. :D
What wheels are they fella?

adikt speed (not sure if thay still make them)
They look like a set called Adikit Speed's, i had a set on my last car.
Ahh thought they might have been 17" versions of my sparco's
Toying with the idea of putting my 18" GT4s on it. Can't get these bloody rims off, though...not even to put the spacers on. Looks decidedly :ghey: atm, with the flared arches.

Car looks good and the engine looks awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To get the locking wheels nuts off you`ll have to hammer sockets onto them, you`ll need one socket for each nut as they don`t come off after:( Impact sockets are best and are quite cheap from halfrauds. I had the same problem on my old car:whip:
Tried smacking a socket onto it. Its a weird type. Looks like the lock/socket is made up of small bits of rod, of differing depths, that form a key. The locking nut takes up the entire hole, though, so a socket can't get around the nut's edges, without destroying the wheel.
halfords sell a locking wheel nut removal tool now... perfect for car theifs lol

looking good mate :notworthy :notworthy
Is the EWG going to fit under the bonnet :wack:
He certainly doesn't know where he put his locking wheel nut key. :D
Now why doesnt that supprise me :D
I think you should get some Kouki rear lights on that to finish it off. Iam very jelous of the s15 front as well :)
That looks great, as mentioned above... needs kouki's
Thats lovely, even has a proper engine :D
That is very nice!what sort of power is the ca going to push out ?
Engine looks awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope it goes well with the fitting fella
Looking very nice mate. Keep us posted!
Aaaand I've just realised who that car used to belong to... it's come a long way
I've got one with koukis. Further cosmetic mods aren't a priority, atm. Got to get all suspension stuff on it, finish stripping it out, paint the inside, sort out all the bushes, get the engine in, running, mapped (hoping for ~350rwhp) then sort out the wheels, get it buffed, again and then drive it, for the first time...ever. :wack:
It certainly has come along. It was blowed up, when I got it.
The wastegate came OUT of an S13, so I'm hoping it'll go back in one. If it doesn't, we can butcher the manifold, some more.

Looks fapping awesome!
I'm selling my Z, Mr.Tone. Bored of it, tbh. Even more bored of the abysmal dealer support and levels of knowledge. Its a lovely car but with a daily driver and a weekend car, its a bit of a waste of money having it parked up. Selling my bits for peanuts is pretty depressing. Your S13 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more impressive than mine.
Anyway...I thought the 350 belonged to your lady? :p
Always wanted an S15 front and am very pleased with how it looks. Just need some rubber edge stuff to stick on the bonnet and around the bottom of the lights and it'll be done. :D

needs a bigger wing... I think they are selling surplus migs in russia... :D
Wow  excellent spec on that engine :notworthy
Tried to get a 1610mm Rotora wing but they stopped making them. :(
Its a track car...the wing has purpose. :p
I've seen you speccing up bits for the Z, Mr. Ah, its a slippery slope, as I'm sure you know... ;)
Finally got some front on pics. Hooray. :D

looks good :)
spoilers not to my tastes but it works
Was feeling slightly arty, so took a pic of my 180s. yay.
Currently the project car is having the engine bay welded up, ready to be sprayed. Was thinking about doing it hot pink. :D
Bit of a downer than my 350 threw a rod, on saturday, though. :(
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180s.jpg
 Poor 350! What happened? Is it under warranty?
It went rattle, rattle, rattle and then died, leaving a trail of oil down the M62. :(
Should be under warranty but Nissan and I don't have the best track record when it comes to fixing things. :( :(
Car Looks Foking lovley :smitten:
Gutted about the Z tho  Hope you get it sorted :)
Image repetition is ebil. :wack:

That is an awesome project. I like the S15 front end, and started to see a few S13's with them on. They realy do look good.
Can't wait to see the finished item all up and running!!
Can't wait to see the finished item all up and running!!
Me, too. I've never heard it run. Project has been ongoing since September, 2005. :wack:
Got some wheels on order, as well, courtesy of Mr.SRB.

will that wastegate fit???
what turbo is that??
looks nice
Evan Jones
13-10-2006, 11:33
Wow.
Just love the S15 front. Is it a relatively straight swap or is there lots of panel adjusting, chassis fettling and tricky lighting electrics to do ?
Someone hold me down while the rest of you burn my credit card please...
Spec is on one of the other pages. Its a TD06-17C.
The wastegate has been replaced with something shinier. It came out of an S13, though, so it should go back in..

thats looking awesome mate! if the subframe is still off the car could you do me a massive favour please, if you have the means could you see what the weight of the rear sub frame is?
I can try? If its not over 50kg...d'no how it'd balance, though.
jrtuning
13-10-2006, 13:27
awesome looking car and engine all the best getting it up and running
as for the subframe its less than 50kg will go weigh mine now if you like
jrtuning
13-10-2006, 13:31
typical cant find the bloody scales but its around the 25kg mark :)
Rear subframe is 21.3kg apparently, with the OEM bushes.
Front is 6.3kg.
S15 front end was a bit of a pain in the arse, for sure. Its not a straight bolt on kit.

LEG END! cheers for that mate:thumbs: (been trying to find out for a while for my dissertation) i really want to do this to my s13 next year (ie strip everything off and clean all the rust off and poly bush the lot) good luck with the project:thumbs:
Okay, I thought I might as well do a quick rundown, from the beginning. Hopefully there won't be too much image repetition but I'll remove the others, anyway.
We took one of these...
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/before1.jpg
and did this to it...
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/before2.jpg
Sent the engine off to various places to have this done to it...
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/1.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/2.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/3.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/4.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/5.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/6.jpg
While that was happening, it went away and had this stuff test-fitted.
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/7.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/8.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/9.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/10.jpg
Amazing quality though the West Yoko front wings were, they looked a bit 'skinny' compared to the huge fat arse of the car, so we got some +20mm fronts and got on with it.
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/11.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/12.jpg
Added some primer and made the car look like a giant car shaped biscuit.
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/13.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/14.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/15.jpg
Got some of this...
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/16.jpg
...to make it look like this...
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/17.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/18.jpg
Then because the logistics of this thing, from start to finish, were all messed up, we sent subframes off, so we could get on with this...
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/20.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/21.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/22.jpg
...and they came back looking like this.
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/19.jpg
Hopefully, before Christmas, we can do the same to the inside and add these...
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/23.jpg
http://www.pyroteknikon.com/180/build/24.jpg
...and it'll all be done.
Looks quick and simple...but really wasn't. :wack:
Keep it up - can't wait to see the finished article :)
I remember what this car used to look like, it wasn't pretty :wack:

where'd you send the subframe to get it as spangly as that???
Powder coaters? He whipped out a colour chart and told me which were colourfast polyesters and which were more durable epoxy. Epoxy is pretty much available in black only, so I settled on the purple as its a mixture of both and looked around the same colour as the car.
Came out a bit brighter. :wack:
that will look awesome when its done! i already love the look of it! :smitten: :smitten:
make sure you get some Kouki rear lights and your spot on mate
Its not been abandoned, just yet...
Back half is stripped, now. Needs cleaning up but its stitched and ready for spraying. Then the subframes go back on and some wheels to get it rolling, again. Finish stripping the front, stitch the middle and spray the inside!

god dam! that is an amazing project car!!!!! well done for sticking it out even this long! cant wait to see it finished   :smitten:
thats an awsome project, but, the spoiler :wack: thats silly high - but then thats IMO
Top project.

Looking good. Wouldnt it have been better to sort the sub frames and interior before the exterior paint though?
Yes but circumstances dictated that it needed storing for a while and the only place I could find was the bodyshop :wack:
Initially, it wasn't having all this shell work.
Okay, so its going overbudget and taking a lot longer than it should have. I was only replacing the head gasket. :wack:

very VERY nice mate:)
Barely anything been going on with this for the longest time but my shell was turning to crap being stored in a damp and filthy bodyshop, so I had it moved.
Still a :censored: mess, though.

I picked up an S15 dash. It fits quite nicely, really and finishes the S15 front end quite well. Not fixed in because its going for caging this week.

I saw it at Garage Mac a few days ago, looks stunning pete, gutted i sold you the s15 conversion and kit when i saw it. :(
Jamie should hook it up good tho :)
How long ago was that, though? 2 years? Way too much hanging around. Should look good when its done, though.
As for the turbo. Don't ask me. That's how it came. Trust TD06-17C and I FINALLY found my manifold, so that weird one can be sacked off. :wack:
Looking slightly industrial. Needs to go back in for more paint.

is it just me or are the door bars meant to be like that? that not how i have seen the x-bars done
No joins in the doorbars means they're stronger...I think. I d'no. I just asked for a cage and that's what I got.
No, I wouldn't have thought it should be sitting outside, with no windows. Its certainly not how I'd treat someone elses car.
Thats shocking but seems somewhat familiar, is it just the cage work you are having done there, if so it looks like its done so I would get the car out of there pronto :(
alanjuggler
26-09-2008, 08:00
what's it supposed to be having done & who's it with?
the rust on your inner arch spot welding isn't just surface rust anymore - will need stripping and re-painting. :(
I'm more worried about the fact you can see daylight through the spot welds.
Its at...the place it was meant to be...finished at. It came back from caging in early May and I guess its been languishing there, since.
Harsh because its so sodding far away.
I get the impression that its just going to be sprayed over and then handed back to me. There you go. It runs and is finished. Hooray.
What excuse did they give for why its outside and taking so long, I'd pull the car out of there asap if it was mine
No excuses given. The owner wasn't there, when we arrived, which was inconvenient.
That is shocking. Car totally open to the elements. Your wiring and all switches etc may also be completely corroded/screwed now as well!
What did they say? That is NOT how it should be done. They should have taken protective measures if they left it outside. Worth attempting to take them to court, get a local (to them)solicitor to come look at the state of the car.

Its paid for.
I wouldn't pay them a fooking penny, until the rectify all the corrosion!
and i would seriously be looking at the legal side of things, unless you got it done on the cheap as some king of favour, but even so, i would not be happy, if they are a tuning/modifying type place you should name and shame, they shouldn't be treating a customers car like that:eek:
They remind me of a company (forgot the name :annoyed:) over on MKIVSupra.net. A customer put his car in for some random jobs (fitment of a catch-tank and shortshift kit)
The shortshift git was secured with a bent wood screw and they stole his catch-can and fitted a Red-Bull can.....

get your car out of there straight away mate, and look into to taking legal action! All your hard work and money spent will go to waste, I honestly thought that was in a scrap yard!
You want all your money back from them as well!
Thats shocking mate:eek: name and shame I say:nod: id want to know if a company was going to treat my car that poorly.I think you are due either compensation or they can deal with removing all the rust and treating the metal before painting it.Was it just left with them to paint or other work?

time to name and shame?????? where the hell is that place???
name and shame so nobody else risks this, theres no excuse for that, id have rage so bad if i were u... infact i have it now seeing them pics

What are theygoing to do about the missing parts then?
who has done this to your car:(
10 months and still no joy, you have got far more patience than i have
Name and shame is the least you can do to prevent other people using thier services, then pay a visit with a club hammer and blowtorch
Thats a disgrace :(
Can't say too much, really. Due to there being a theft issue, I'm having to deal with the police, now. Unfortunate but a necessity, if only so I can get a crime number.
Hopefully when I collect the remains of the car and my parts, there won't be too much else missing. At the very least I should be able to get a few quid back from the sale of the remaining bits.
All in all, quite a disappointing experience.
Would this be the car i seen last year at a place quite near to santa pod, ran by a member?
If so it was outside then and i commented id have been pissed about all the roll cage getting rusty to the person who had travelled down with me.
If not, ignore me :)
Holy F**k dude my heart goes out to you :( This had realy good potential.
The guy who let the car rust away in his yard should be shot

The company in question are no longer in business - theres no need to name and shame. :)

so the ''owner'' of the unknown garage no longer posts on here because if he does he needs naming and take responsibility for what he has done in case he starts trading again and screws some one else:nod:

That wont happen mate, trust me.
I would add that the current inhabitants of the garage (if anyone recognises it) have nothing to do with this car and are indeed top lads :)
Wow, this is awful. My friend had a very similar experience with his S14 when he took it to a garage. After he eventually recovered it (after paying thousands), in a worse state than when he left it, with missing parts, etc, he named and shamed them. There was then a mysterious arson attack on his driveway, nearly taking his house with it whilst him and his GF slept inside.
So many shady garages about now :(

Had the car picked up, yesterday and collected what few of my parts remained.
These pics pretty much sum it all up, for me.

who did this dude, looks like they have other 200's in their yard! I wouldnt send my car there knowing how they treated your ride, you should name and shame!
If i was closer I'd happily offer to help put get it back in order, but being stuck in London doesn't make it eas. Best of luck getting it all sorted !!
that looks pretty gutting:(
at least give us a clue where it was, don't want anyone else using them!
tbh its pretty dam easy to figure out who it is, little bit of digging will show it.
Theres a reason why pyro hasnt posted the name to shame in this thread, so bear that in mind please and dont post it yourself

Ive just read the whole thread. This is heartbreaking. You seem to be taking it alot better than I would. I would seriously be a non paying guest of Her Majesty by now. I feel for you.
Had the car picked up, yesterday and collected what few of my parts remained.
Shit, Im very sorry to see these pics :( What are you doing with the car, going to still put it together?
Absolutely fcuking shocking mate, they have taken the p!ss out of you. I hope you get the result you want from this, sorry to see the current state of the vehicle

Not sure, Bren. Awaiting Graham's verdict on whether the shell can be salvaged, or not. Plus I'm missing so many parts, its unbelievable. :wack:

That is utterly shocking mate :( Really feel for you, think im fairly sure on the company, do you have much chance of getting anything back? :(
The shell doesn't look like its going to be salvaged. The rust underneath is pretty terrible, in places and the rust under the rear arch extensions is dismal, also.
Can salvage most of the bodykit, I s'pose but I won't be able to get the door panels or rear overfenders off as they've been blended in.
That's a lot of money in shell prep, going to the scrappers. So much for my rust free jap shell.
I'd post up some pics but you all know what a rusty S13 looks like.
is there no chance of getting any money back from the arsehole that let that happen?

Bloody hell mate, I had no idea :(.
Don't have much luck with garages and cars, do you? (to understate things mildly)

Gutted for you pal :(
Yikes. Can't beleive what has happened. Hope everything turns out better than now. Is the insurance company reimbursing the stolen parts ?
I don't think there's any insurance available to claim against. Its g'na have to be a personal claim, if the police don't find anything concrete.
Joy.
i feel so bad for you....
pryo, are you thinking ok putting your stuff on a new shell?
Gti-james

how long was the car left at that place?
pyro, are you thinking ok putting your stuff on a new shell?
There's not enough stuff to put a car together, anymore. Essentially all I've got are some suspension bits and an engine. The rest is all gone.
I'm still waiting for the police to conclude their investigation before I decide on the next step.
Any shell is salvagable but its a matter of time and cost...and if I have to start replacing all the rest of the stuff, as well as throwing a few more grand at repairing the shell...its just not worth it.
Car was there for 18 months or so, being strung along with lies and excuses, as it turns out.
