I'll be in a position next week where I'll be able to get some sounds sorted for the S13 at last :)

What Sub(s) do you all use and how do they sound?

I'm either going to go for 1x12" 2x12" or 1x15" but unless it's a Solabaric I'm not sure I'd get a 15" boxed and in the boot of an S13

Any suggestions as to what Subs sound the best in this car?

And also, what amp(s) did you use to run the subs?

Cheers :)

2x10" Diamond Audio Technology (Hex/MacDaddy's) running off a DLS A3 amp in 2ohm bridged (1ohm stereo) mode in an S14a though.
These subs work best in the half a cubic foot sealed - thats the same size as the cardboard box they're packaged in.

Rockford RFD 2210..

running off a Directed 650..

would heartily recommend just getting one good sub and descent amp... rather than two or three cheaper subs..

I've got......

1 10" JL Audio sub in an enclosed box running from a Kicker IX406 amp and i'm bridging the last two channels for the sub.

It was rated at 127dB so it ain't too bad.

When he gets stranded with a puncture, he'll have a nice system to listen to whilst working out how to get home.:D

See here how you can get an install and still get to your spare wheel. The amp shelf pivots up and the subs stay where they are.

i mainly use the car 4 work and i only work 3 miles away, and maybe a bit of bobbing around on a weekend so if i get a flat(only had 1 in 14 years of motoring) i'll phone 'er indoors to fetch me spare! or use the old trusty tyreweld.if i travel a far i tend to use the wifes micra to save a couple o' quid on juice.

I was thinking of getting an Alpine 12" (SWR1221D) and an Alpine MRDM300 amp to run it, they seem to match up well, how good are the Alpine subs?

MCS Direct do the sub at £124 which i thought was quite good, the amp they have at £174, Sub is rated at 300w RMS as is the amp

My other choice was to buy my mates 2 x JL 12w3's but then I won't be able to afford a decent enough amp to run them both effectively :(

heh, just went to look at mcs-direct.co.uk to see about other amps and it would seem they got hacked

Think I'll phone through my order tomorrow instead of online

Didin nice setup and mark well done lads nice and clean. Iv got 2 * 15inch Velocity`s in me boot not completely installed yet as money saved is now going onto the work needed to the front passenger wheel. (CARELESS DRIVING) Its powered by a yellow cap, cap and a velocity amp pumping out 1500RMS very nice inside and out. But a big problem when i had a flat tire.

RE: xcapade

where'd you get the yellow cap from??

you post on caraudiodirect.com at all??

(and ill assume you have an S13 if you have those velocity's in your boot :))
