And you need an external amp to power it.

Bit like the Nak MB100 then really:D.

If anyone seriously wants one of those Sony's, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do one for. It won't be huge amounts off as it's not my company but I'll see what I can do.

that decker is well sweet..

im looking for a head unit at the moment.. dont have loads to spend so its a nighmare trying to find one without flashing god damn lights and poncey animations all over it..

just want discreet and good quality.. not a retro 70's disco..

where sell those decker units??

and any other non-mainstream brands as all mid range stuff seems to be so tacky..

looked at all these..

alpine (some are nice)
pioneer
blaupunt
clarion (old range was perfect.. new is awful)
sony (especially)
kenwood (not too bad)

any other brands to check out??? (not McIntosh or nak prices though :))

The Rockford Fosgate and JVC decks have nice simple fronts.

I've just placed an order for the Alpine CDA-7998R. My HU is slowly dying, its done 6 years of time so I don't feel too bad about it. Check the Piccy. :D

Hendon Car Stereo. Pick it up Sunday. They close at 6 so can't go after work, and they're closed on Saturday.
Can't wait to get it in. :D

I just got a new Alpine CDA-7894RB from a place in Leicester via the internet for £340 (rrp £500) and that is absolutely brilliant. The sound quality made similar priced Pioneer/Sony etc sound completely second rate.

Now don't laugh but if you want one of those head units you could try Barnet Football club shop.

I know it seems daft but JBL now sponsor Barnet. JBL brand is owned/imported by Harman International which also imports Harman Kardon and, wait for it, Becker.

Call Mal at the shop on 020 8440 0725

Got my new HU. :D :D :D
Picked up the MP3 changer too while I was there.
Need to find the time to fit it now!
I wonder if its gonna fit in the OEM space - the front face is actually larger/taller than the standard DIN size unit. The top of the front panel might hit the four buttons just above the stereo.

maverick

If the face is too tall when it revolves out, you could try mounting it into the lower din position. The two spaces are interchangeable.

Diddn

I might have to give that a try I think. I weren't sure whether I could "easily" swap the two around.

When that part of the dash is pulled out, the lower cubbyhole is secured by screws at the side, just like the stereo. That part of the cage is actually used to house the CD player in Jap S14s. For some reason the Japs like to have a cassette/tuner and then a separate DIN sized CD player. (like in this guy's car http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalNis200SX.htm )
