I took the vacuum pipe off the original turbo and cant see where it fits onto??

Here's the original T25, you can see where the vacuum pipe originally fitting onto but the T28 hasnt got this nipple....

You can either drill and tap the turbine outlet for nipple fitment, or you can buy a nipple from Bren@Apex that fits into the hose that comes off that outlet.
The choice is yours, but the 2nd option is way easier

Or you can route it to the nipple on the plenum here:

Few threads about it here (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=146520&highlight=plenum) or here (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=162150&highlight=plenum) :)

you're on a mission with that motor ;) Most people dither around with basic stage1 mods for ages :wack:

:D yeh i know, stage 0 to stage 3........it proving to be around a (hanes manual) 3 spanners out of 5 job getting this T28 on:wack: The standard oil return is too short and the other water pipes need to be gently bent to fit:(

Its personal now........i wont be beaten:annoyed:

The strong will never fall!!!!!!!!! :D

fcuk the water feeds off, you wont need them. Block them up.

Makes turbo changes a lot quicker in future :D:D

Seriously, not needed

Dont use the standard line - that's suicide. Get a braided one from Bren. That's good advice I promise you

OMG..........r u being serious?? Its taken me over an hour to get one water pipe on (bending, twising it to fit)!!!.....the other shouldnt be problem tho. Ive got the braided (uprated) oil feed:thumbs:

So how is it you dont need the water coolent pipes? Surely it'll over heat?
Nevermind they are on now...

been running mine for fooking yonks without them. As long as you allow a good cooling down period after a caning (ie not shutting the engine down after a thrash) it'll be absolutely fine and dandy

I'll remember that for future reference;)

I've discovered that putting the manifold (with turbo) on the car and connecting pipes is a complete arse (or near dam impossible) especially when connecting the oil feed to the turbo.

If i put the oil feed onto the turbo first, then fit the manifold (with turbo) I wont be able to tighten the oil feed at the engine block (because the braided hose hasnt got swivel head at either end).

Anyways around this or do you just tighten it up and let the hose twist around??

HELP:(

dont kink the hose, that'll feck your turbo :smash:

Aren't the unions the same either end of the oil feed? Ie cant you screw the non-swivelly end onto the turbo and leave the swivelly end for the block - and connect that last?

25-11-2005, 16:03
yeh i'll make sure it doesnt kink............think it'll be continued tmorow now. My fingers and toes have fallen off with frost bite.....

Thats what i did- left the swivel end to connect to block. Now fine, but those nuts for manifold to head(under the tubo) were a right pig. Good luck fella.:)

Dear oh dear, finally sorted! :o

The unions are different at each end. And there are no swivelly ends:annoyed: At the block end you've got a thread that screws into the block and at the turbo end there is a ring. We had to machine up a banjo bolt to go through it. It all ended up being a complete waste of time as I decided to go with the standard oil feed (temporarily) until I get a braided pipe with a swivel end on it.

For the record I was given this uprated feed when I got the turbo, therefore im not sure who manufactured it.

Yeh they're a bitch, I found it easier to get to them from the underneath!

Mine appeared to be 'un-swivelly' till I dismantled the end that screws into the block. I found there was an adapter on the end, that fits the bigger thread in the block then a normal hydrualic fitting that fitted onto it. If the hydraulic brake pipe type fitting has been nipped onto the adaptor it will appear as though they are one thing/locked and unswivelly. You should be able to screw the adaptor into the block first then screw the hyrdaulic compression fitting onto it a bit like a brake line, hence it being swivelly. Can you take a pic of the end that connects to the block and post it ?

28-11-2005, 10:19
Yeh I'll be able to post a pic of it once i get it back from my mate. He's taken it to a hose specialist and they're goin to make a new with different ends.
