I changed my thermostat a few weeks ago as the car was taking ages to warm up. Bought a halfords thermostat and installed it. Car gets up to temp in about 5 mins, longer in the recent weather but on my water temp gauge it only ever goes to about 63-65oC and maybe see 70oC if i give it some beans. Im just wondering if this is a bit cool as with the old thermostat it used to sit at around 80-85oC. And if the car idles for a while now it will cool down to about 55oC and the heater is not really what i would call hot just warm

any ideas is this normal? or should i change the thermostat? or any other suggestions

thanks
Jamie

but isnt 60oC a bit too cold? Will the car be running rich still on warm up?

Too cold I'd say.

I'm not sure what temp the ECU switches into proper running temp mode, but it could be that you are never getting into it.
