Question for everyone who custom maps ECU's
I want to custom map my ECU, I have a Horsham Devolpments stage 3 chip but I would like to map the ECU myself. I know people that can teach me but we don't have the kit to do it.
What do you all use and what do you concider to be the best of the pick?
Would also be interested to know where you got it from?
I don't want to steel peoples maps but would appreciate any help and advise
Thanks in advance

I don't use this, but, this is a free ROM editor (I will use it one day)
I don't know how good any of the supplied ROMs are (if any are supplied at all).

Would definatly be interested when it's finished. Wouldn't mind some tech support as well if you don't mind?
Just had a look at your web site aswell nice site mate :notworthy

Couple more questions I have thought of
Can you download as well as upload software on a chip ie read the data on it and can the chip be adjusted while driving?
Do I need a blank chip to start with or can the OE chip be re-mapped?
Last one (for now)
What cables/ quiptment will I need to connect to it?
i recomend u use the 28C256 EEPROM memory it is cheap , it can be found esely, and it is an EEPROPM, so u will not need a UV lamp to erase it, it has double capacity (32K and the CA18DET image has 16K) so u can even write 2 diferent images on it, and use a button, or install only oane image
for programing i use the willhel programmer (i hope i speled write)

To do it live on the car you need a Romulator.
http://xtronics.com/memory/pktROM.htm
And Jez I think uses Liveedit.
http://www.redz31.com/pages/fuel/romulator.html
Also should use a wide band O2 sensor.
And either tune you ear for det or get a filter, amp and speaker so you can hear it.

The saving should be in this week with any luck.
Yup download as well as upload.
The OE chip can probably be remaped, as long as its an E/EPROM but why not use a new one theyre only cheep.
As ByReaL said the willem programmers a good bet - http://www.willem.org/
As for live editng the Xtronics one is ok, but serial only i think? + ive heard you sometimes need to cycle the ignition after an upload, the other option is an ostrich from http://www.moates.net/ which is USB and the honda guys seem to think pretty highly of em.
thinking about which of these to get myself atm.
to be honest this is all new to me too, only started looking in to it in the last month or so

All been updated

latest version.
It does save now, but you'll need a trial key to make it work.
Email me and ill send one to anyone who wants to have a play.
wow. I looked at this a while ago when I first got my 200. Seems there have been a lot of advances since then.
Maff - I would be extremely interested in having a play if thats ok? You have email :)

maff, in what way is your app better than ROM Editor? :)
At the moment i doubt that it is much better :D Maybe a bit prettier
However it does try and interprate the raw data into real world figures so the timing can be represented in degrees etc..
I hope to add features so that you can do things like change injector sizes in one hit, and it will do all the calculations for you. And also get it to update a romulator/ostrich as you make the changes but thats a while off yet.
I would say, make it for moates, romulator already works(?) with LiveEditor :)
What is ignition timing formula for our maps?
theres two ive read:
divide by 2
or
-22 from the value
Yeah the moates.net one seems to be well loved by the honda people, ill save my pennies:thumbs:
So which one is true? :)
P.S. I'd say 60-22=38 at 3200rpm is a bit too much of advance...
i have no idea... and no equipment with which to test, i think Jezz was going to have a check when he gets a chance.
its quite possible neither are right.
i get 51-22 at 3200, dont get to 60 till 4800, and in both circumstances thats at no engine load
under half load at 3200 its 38-22 = 16
and full load at 3200 its 35-22 = 13
however im no engine guru, i didnt know what injector latency was till i started writing this software :o
