Question 1.
Had my s14a diff fitted today and all went well without problem, but is my car now slower at accelerating as im sure i can feel a difference?

Question 2.
Is a manual boost controller fitted between the turbo and actuator? if so do i just cut into the pipe.

Question 3.
Turbo - elbow, what size nuts are these as i seem to be loosing them, theres 1 missing and 1 was ready to fall off, i only had them tightened them 3 weeks ago.

Question 4.
does anyone know what samco bends/reducers are used to fit a volvo intercooler?

thats it for now, any feedback would be welcomed :wack:

Yep. With a sharp knife. Watch your fingers though

it will be slower, especialy if you're still using an s13 gearbox.

However, your top end will improve a bit, assuming you've got the power to maintain it.

It's 7% iirc so you'll get 7% more top end (around 172mph if you have enough power to get there :wack::D) but slower acceleration. It's only the manual S14 diff that's longer, the auto one is the same gearing as the S13 one.

hmmm...turn boost up to compensate :wack:

if the turbo - elbow gasket was bolloxed would this cause the car to idle badly?. when you let off the gass and drop the clutch it drops to stalling point (sometimes it does stall) but then goes back to idle at 800rpm, any ideas?

Out of interest, do we know how much power?
Itch, don't know the answer to your idle probs, sorry :)

Stage 2 will do it, stage 1 can't be that far off so at a guess 220-250bhp.

About 315-330bhp at redline.

I think we'll find out for sure at Brunters on the 29th then... :D

anyone have an idea about this? or possible cures?

Are you saying the turbo elbow gasket IS bolloxed, or do you want to know if it's bolloxed?

Does that mean that mine with a STD S13 LSD will be quicker off the mark and say over the qtr mile (driven by someone of equal ability) but have a lower top speed compared to the S14 LSD?

Yes as you'd have shrter gearing but... over 1/4 mile you might get away with one less gerchange with the longer diff and end up being faster :)

Might me a future upgrade for me then. Do they both have the same type of LSD?
I would think that @ stage 3 I would struggle to get all the power down off the mark anyway.

it IS bolloxed. just want to know if this would cause hesitation and a dodgy idle

I think part of the casing needs swapping but it's not a difficult job.

Surely it's the internal gears that are differant?
Wouldn't it be easyer to change the complete diff?

You do change the entire diff, but you need to fit the S13 back plate to it to fit it to the S13, that's what he's saying :)

SO? :)
Sadly, I didn't get to find out, for 2 reasons:
1: I ran out of time to get the S14 LSD fitted.
2: I decided to run with my stg2 setup, as it's tried and tested. Stg3 may have had a few teething problems.

Even if both the above had been overcome, I think the wet track would have hampered the acceleration required to reach 172 in such a short space. Buffy's 428bhp monster "only" hit 162mph before he had to hit the brakes.

Still, 152mph in the wet on a standard open diff with approx 280bhp isn't bad methinks :)

Its worth £15 to have access to all the secret parties the SXOC run for its members :D

And access to all the porn threads that get posted :wack:
