I asked this question as part of a thread on another Forum, but it should go here really.

I bought a Sony MD690 for my S14a and it is connected up to the standard Sony changer. Is it worth spending any more to get a new changer?

Also, I have connected a Pioneer active sub using the thin black phono cable (the one running along the transmission tunnel) and was wondering if it was worth upgrading that.

Depends what changer you have in the car now. The earlier s14a's usually had a CDX51 which, unless its been worked on, is probably getting to the end of its life and definately not worth repairing. The later CDX605 units definately sound better (a lot more dynamic range) and mechanically were a far superior unit. So basically, if its an earlier one and you've got the cash, change it!

Marcos, it is not a CDX51. I cannot remember the model number, but my car is a 1998 car. It sounds fine at the moment, so I might live with it.
